How Do You Dawahnize A 'strayed' Muslimah? by pmc01(m): 1:20pm On Apr 27, 2013 |
The follow-follow syndrome common to our sisters today is indeed a very big challenge. Maybe they just need more mentoring from our Sunnatic Umms. I mean the real elderly Umms o, not the Umm with the ... Sq! Allaah knows. Even though many of them listen to series of admonition, it seems they still don't get the underlining messages in those sermons. Of course, we brothers have our own peculiar challenges too o (before I am slaughtered on the altar of Gender discrmination). That is why I don't hammer on wearing the hijab on first admonition to a 'strayed', a.k.a., modernised sister. Sq! I first encourage her to rediscover Islam, learn Islâm & appreciate Islâm, then she herself will love the hijab naturally and even convince others to adopt it (killing a dozen birds with one shot). This is so that she doesn't throw away her hijab, because her 'Muslim' 'boyfriend' 'jilted her'. NB: this is my personal opinion to da'wah approach & not a scholarly position. Hence, I plead to be put aright where I have erred. |

harmeenart: Make dua for us (sisters),it works in wonders. #LOL I try not to get too involved with women. It tends to bring complications. |

Females face a peculiar challenge. What is common is what is deemed as normal. Living in a society where it is normal to be badly dressed means this is what they will see as normal. The most important thing is patience. There is no need giving them a lecture every time you meet, maybe a small reminder but nothing more. Do not even talk about hijab. Once the Islamic consciousness grows, that will come. This has worked for me. I stayed with my cousins for a few months and the girl adopted the hijab. We just had very random Islamic talks. It came out of the blue.. Step by step, don't inundate them with information. There was also a sister who ran away with her boyfriend and left Islam, She got married to her boyfriend and even had kids with him.. Her father disowned her and all that. Her sister did not give up on her and kept giving her dawah. Now she is wearing the hijab and her husband is close to taking the shahada (probably done it already). Patience but stay on point. Sisters face a tougher challenge in the modern world but there are brothers that stray too. A very knowledgeable brother who used to give the khutbah in his neighbourhood (in texas) left Islam. He travelled abroad, stayed in the same room with an atheist and began to doubt. He left Islam. When he came back, there is no one that did not talk to him. Sheikh Abdulnasir Jangda, Sheikh walid basouni, Ustadh Nouman Ali Khan.. etc... The guy did not bulge. His muslim community was very angry with him. It took the effort of one brother, he didn't even discuss Islam with him so much. Just kept in touch. He is back as a muslim. 1 Like |
