Should Prostitution Be legalized in Nigeria? by ajufinz(m): 12:57pm On May 01, 2013 |
Itz being a highly controvercial issue to debate considering the differences in cultural beliefs, moral stands and faith. The legalization of this old global trade, selling of Sex (buyin too) in recent times has seen the UN, Canada and some western states made bold to demand for the dicriminalizing of sex trade - Prostitution. In the nearest future I see this debate up on the Nigerian NASS floor. Before that happens Nairalanders, watz ur take...? For now pr.ostitution wears different fazes: * sex workers * sex Hawkers * Campus Runz * Area Runz * Escorts * Corporate Prostitution * and lotz more Legalize it or don't, make a case for ur stand. |

Since this is not the religious section, I would talk from an economic point of view. Legalizing prostitution would at first reduce the unemployment rate in the country (don't be surprised males too would join in this line of business). When legalised, the government can tax them which brings in revenue for the nation, therefore adding to the GDP. I also believe they would have a recognised association which would help in structuring their activities and their modus operandi more, so that wud hopefully reduce young women falling into the hands of ritualists and so on. It may also reduce social vices like armed robbery since ppl have a better option of earning using bedmatic skills. And it shouldn't be restricted to Females alone to make it more effective. And btw, the government should emphasize that indecent dressing isn't tantamount to 'making it big in the industry' so we don't see half-naked ppl on the streets all day in the name of selling their 'goods'. |

Putting aside the moral implication of prostitution, i think it should be legalized. Let's look at the bright side" Legalizing will reduce the prominence os numerous social ills including rape, robbery etc and it will also mean that the industry will be regulated and also add to the economy in some way. |
