its interesting when folks talk biz. however, i found out that in my experience when people and societal needs are primary in your mind, it becomes easier to provide needs that would make good money for you.
seemingly "uneducated" folks make a lot more by "filling" the gap. i am an aquaculturist among other things, i raise a unit of catfish for as much as 140 naira. one dirty looking young man buys from me at 320naira per kg and sells at 600naira. he makes 280naira in less than 24 hours while i made 180naira in 6 months. hmmn, i am starting a catfish retail business thats decent and lush and i am even buying from other farmers. i think we should all think proactively.

Kazey said in his earlier post. A lot of people are more concerned about the money and not the
requirements/needed knowledge, which is not good.

Now the truth of the matter is that there are millions of opportunities surrounding us that we can all start
with little or no money. What we are required to do, is to shine our eyes and we will see them. Businesses
spring from needs and when we meet other people's needs, they will gladly pay us.

Let's always ask ourselves what needs we can meet in our environment and we will NEVER run out of ideas

You already have an idea of what websites are like. I guess you need an idea of the niche to concentrate on. Well as you must have found out, there is no magic formula anywhere, it takes time and much effort to build something like Nairaland.

My suggestion is this, list down 5 different areas of interest in your life. I encourage you to start about 5 different blogs (use Blogger ie mysite(dot)(dot)com). Each one should focus on different things you are passionate about. e.g. Blog number
             1. Focus on your hobby.
             2. Focus on your profession or career.
             3. Focus on the thing you are angry about - Maybe injustice in Nigeria
             4. Focus on your pet project e.g. your social club
             5. Focus on yourself e.g. an online personal diary

Start writing on each of the blogs everyday. Within the space of one month, you will discover that you are more passionate about a particular blog than others. Feedbacks in terms of comments will also show you if you have a willing audience.
Once you discover the niche you are passionate about, then you can work more on it while you discard the other blogs. I know this works because I have tried it. My major blog Nigerian Entrepreneur is just about 4+ months old and it is already having a Google Pagerank of 3. That was achieved without a single paid advertisement. Its good to jump into the money making game but pls beware of quick cash. If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is,

Except you win the lottery or you happen to be a recipient of a will, its unlikely that someone with huge cash will need business ideas.

My reason is that the person must be a fast thinking person to have generated the money from an initial idea anyway.


However, if you have really heavy cash, its best to invest in properties. Its the safest in terms of appreciation for now.

Except you are prepared to start the next DotCom company that will take the world by storm, YOU DO NOT require so much money to start internet business, moreso, its not about the money, its about the dedication . infact, apart from forex, no internet business requires more than $500 to start. Moreso, Forex require due diligence and i don;t advise a novice to invest in it!
