We don't need stories just damn facts and figures, names and locations. Which bank, which branch, which ATM, period. Then you will discover that even without further ado the problem will stop. That is the essence of social media. If you can't be factual its either a lie or you are part of the problem. 4 Likes |

it does not seem so logical that ATM custodians in banks will now stoop so low to add pre-fabricated fake currencies into cash stacks. how many notes will be added frequently? how will they source the fake notes for this purpose? every ATM is loaded by 2 bank staff...the cash custodian and the operations head....both guys are always experienced staff with long years of service. rookies are not placed in such core areas. it does not sound logical that these two guys will now go through this murky fraud to gain an average of N10,000.00 (ten thousand naira) just to load fake notes on their own machines..... whilst it is possible for fake notes to be in the system, the probability of it being loaded consciously by bankers on teller machines is very low. these reports are sensational in nature. it is easy for a non banker to associate with the info...(Same thought process that occurs when we accuse civil servants of corruption) but i know certainly that the probability of staff members deliberately loading ATMs with fake notes is way tooo low 3 Likes |

A guy once told me that he deals on fake currencies. He said when he takes the money to the bank, he discusses with the bank manager and they agree based on percentage. So the bank manager is aware of the fake currency. |

Reference: Yet more nonsensical reporting to further prove just how deep corruption has sunk. The name of the consullting firm was mentioned, the name of the CBN was mentioned but not surprisingly the names of the offending banks were protected so that the scam can continue perpetually. Then we turn around and accuse government of cover-up when we cannot even admit to ourselves the truth. Have you ever heard or read on international news stories of importance where the actors are completely anonymous. We Nigerians deserve everything we get. No ATM for me this morning. Period. #Gbam |

Ihe ne-eme! The question now is how are u going to complain to the bank officials without them doubting, when none of them was their as a witness when the said conterfeit was dispensed? This issue is like a hydra headed monster it needs to be dealt with decisively. Banking in any part of the world thrives in intergrity, but when officials of this sector comprise their intergrity, particularlly in Nigeria we're doomed. The mearsures to be taking in arresting this situation should be internal as the customers have little to contribute. |

justayo: I collected fake 1000 note (2 pcs) from an ATM machine here in Ibadan. if u're sure of what u're saying Y not include the name of the bank and possibly the branch. @least we need change for better, but if u make claims without specifying i dont think the banks will take measures. There're hundred of banks in Ibadan so which one in particular are u talking about? I am a businessman, so i know what it means to defame anybody's business, the law of karma will definately catch up with u. 1 Like |

freecocoa: And people wonder why I count my money after withdrawal from the atm, omo this country dey fear me. Let us assume you count your money and there is an error either in the amount dispensed or the genuiness of some notes, what will you do, considering it is your word against that of the bank that you either have hidden some of the notes or that you came to the dispensing machine with fake notes in the hope that you can persuade the bank to change them for you on a false claim that the machine actually dispensed them? just asking |

Please don't come here and be posting stu.pid comments about how you've been a victim and bla bla bla. If you have experienced this outrageous and criminal act, name the bank and the branch it happened and lets follow it up from there. That is the only way to check it. This is very practicable going by the notorious history of most Naija banks. Its high time the consumers took back their power. 2 Likes |

hardbody: Good question. Its a different thing if you happen to be the only one at the ATM but if there are there are other witnesses there, then something could be done. Don't forget in a hurry what reaction that followed the subsidy removal. There is power in multitude of voices against any form of oppression. I had once made a transaction (GTBANK, Ikorodu) and the ATM dispensed half of the money. This was after waiting in queue for almost an hour. So I went in and tried explaining to the customer service and the saucy brat told me its not possible. And that was that. Shuo! I banged the desk and shook her monitor. I told her she wasn't doing any work if she don't verify my claim. Surprisingly, everyone in the bank supported me. It was chaos and the manager had to come out and after explaining, it was verified that there was a mechanical fault with the machine and I was asked to come back next day but I told them I needed my money right then. And at the end of the day, I was paid my complete cash. The whole scenario didnt last more than 30mins. point is, consumers (especially the banking sector) are tired of the extortion and poor services from the banks. So you have to make noise first. Don't just assume nothing could be done. Better to try and fail than not trying at all. 1 Like |
