Why do we have more unmarried women these days? Why is it that women no longer get married as easy as it used to be in the past? We have more unmarried women these days than before. Can women tell us why this trend is increasing? It is a miracle if a women gets a husband? |

Because marriage is no longer a "saving grace" for most illiterate, depressed and desparate women. More women are more financially stable than most men. . . so why the wahala of hooking up with a liability?  I wouldn't. I go just siddon for ma house deey born je je! No need for all that rubbish. It is better to be unmarried and happy than to be married and unhappy. In most cases, the kinds of men available from the rat pack. . . are not very encouraging. So why bother? It is God's own way of solving the shortage crisis. Glad about that. Women are learning to live their lives without the headache of trifling men in them. I will rather remain single than be divorced like 12 times or find myself in a polygamous set up. Being unmarried as a female is not a crime! I am sure no single lady will see a nice man suitable for marriage and pass him by. If the ladies are single. . . there is a reason and that reason should be respected no matter how unacceptable. 1. Ethnic or Civil wars that claims thousands of men if not millions - men are sent on peace keeping mission etc 2. Armed robbery that also claims thousands of guys annually 3. Other associated risks like accident etc. If there is any shipwreck today, think of how many men that will be involved All the above helps to reduce men and it's attendant consequences is that so many women have indirectly lost their future husbands. 1 Like |

For the below reasons; 1. A lot of women this days are financially well to do and would only marry a man who is richer or at least at per. 2. Those days men married only one wife unlike our parents and thier parents 3. Men are fewer than women 4. Attitude problem of a lot of women even though they are aware that good men are scarce 5. Good men are scarce. 6. Men settle later than those days 7. etc |

bible has nothing to do with it. i think women are lot independent these days and can afford to do as they wish which includes not get married. women run and own businesses these days. unfortunately, u cant eat ur cake and have it i believe most unmarried women would rather have some sort of stable relationship (maybe married). my neigbhour is a 37 yr old fuccin rich woman with her own business stuff but she is not married. although she is successful in other areas of her life she wishes she is married. in most cases they dropped themselves in the mess by choosing career over marriage. my neigbhour cries when her friends cancel a holiday or an outting they've planned for weeks because they have to attend to their husbands/partners |

For starters, women are becomming more career oriented, and a lot prefer to establish themselves in their chosen careers before settling down. Their earning power has also increased, and so has their confidence, and independence. They do not need to rely on a man to get by, they are successful in their own rights. |

Common sense is the password. Less women are married its probably because they don't have a man to marry. Women still want to marry even if they are career driven they might just not have children. |

Scopium: The services that most men provide are not being provided elsewhere and without the usuall arguments and strife that accompany them. Some women have pets. These animals take away the need to talk to someone simply because you can get unconditional love from this animal who won't question your motives or your chosen way of life. I reason with the topic it seems true and to me the chief reason is that this days, women can now do most of the things men do and women who don't seem to have too much interest in men right from thier foundation are mainly the victims especially vey Educated and successful women; you know a man feels you women are inferior but when they see you high they will be ashamed to come to you. |

AEjiro: I beg to differ! You are clearly still very traditional in your way of thinking. You probably think so because of the community you identify yourself with. There is an increase in unmarried women hitting the age 40. Most of these women are living comfortable lifestyles and feel no need to adhere to traditional values because they are mentally westernized. The simple reason is that husbands are really scarce.The so-called unmaried career women envy women who have successful marriages.If they can turn back the hand of the clock they still want to get married. Another reason is that emphasis is placed so much now on material things.Marriage has a lot of commitments and sacrifices which so many young people are not ready to put up with.In the case of ladies by the time they realize themselves age is no longer on their side. |
