Syria And Israel In Exchange Of Fire by Bigflamie(m): 2:37pm On May 21, 2013
Israeli and Syrian forces have exchanged fire across the ceasefire line in the occupied Golan Heights.

Israel returned fire after one of its military vehicles was hit by shots from Syria, Israel's defence forces say. Media reports say no-one was hurt.

Syria says it destroyed an Israeli vehicle which it says crossed the ceasefire line into territory its forces control.

Syria and Israel have traded fire a number of times in recent weeks.

The Israeli military said its troops "returned precise fire" after the vehicle was hit.

A statement from the Syrian army said it had "destroyed an Israeli vehicle with everything that it had in it". The statement said the vehicle was shot after it crossed the ceasefire line and headed towards the rebel-held village of Bir Ajam.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has previously accused Israel of aiding the rebels, but has not provided substantive evidence.

Syrian gunfire has hit the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights in two previous incidents this week, without causing injury. There have been sporadic exchanges of fire between the two sides in recent months.

Tensions between Israel and Syria have soared this year, with Israel allegedly carrying out three air strikes on Syria to stop the transfer of advanced weapons to the militant Islamist movement Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Syrian shells have hit Israeli positions on the Golan Heights, though it is unclear whether they were aimed at rebels in border areas, and Israel has returned fire.

Syria and Israel have been in a state of war since 1948 but the border had been relatively calm in recent years.

Israel has occupied the Golan Heights since the 1967 war. It annexed the territory in 1981, in a move that has not been recognised by the international community.

Isreal the most aggressive country on planet earth, they want to rule the middle east. Iraq has been conquered, afghanistan partially, now its syria even if syria falls (which may not happen) iran would not and for iran to fall, the despotic kingdoms of bharain, s.arabia, qatar etc wuld all fall infact the whole of m.east wuld shake. If isreal thinks it can defeat iran then they are in dreamland

Ask Egypt if their lives have been the same since they dared and lost to Israel. Israel has the right to defend itself against external aggression.

Remember they were the first to hit before they (Israel) retaliated precisely, so looking at the fact that they are yet to be conquered would actually create so much foes within the region (middle east).

Re: Syria And Israel In Exchange Of Fire by Nobody: 6:42pm On May 21, 2013
Since Hezbollah and the Basij forces of Iran, joined the Syrian war, Syria has made massive gains in the war. The capture of the rebel strongholds of Quasyr by the combined effort of Syrian army and Hezbollah means the war is about to come to an end. They just need to consolidate on that, by capturing Homs - and that will be the end. Little wonder why Western countries including America have been clamouring to negotiations in the last few weeks.

Russia also just supplied Syria with advanced Yakhont antiship cruise missiles and the S-300 batteries. That's the game changer right there. Israel might be the new front after Syria's internal war and with Hezbollah and Iran deeply involved in Syria - Syria is about to fight to get Golan back Israeli occupation. Israel just be verrrrrry worried.

Nigeria can definitely learn a thing or two about military tactics and "shock and awe" in military confrontation, with the way Syrian army and Hezbollah forces were able to capture Quasyr within two days. That was the rebel's strongest hold, with about 10,000 forces and bunkers everywhere.

Military tactics for dummies lool.

Israel aiding the rebels? That's funny because even the rebels themselves wish for the annihilation of isreal. If there is any common ground among in Arab world, it's the hatred for isreal.
