automaticcarzz: I have been living in the U.S since year 2001. I will be returning home when there is 24hr power supply. When there is good road network. When police are able to respond to calls within 5 minutes. When there is emergency health and fire response squad that respond to emergency within 5 minutes. When there is rule and order. When the police stop brutalizing the people they suppose to protect. When there is true democrcy. When the President stops harassing political opponents. When there is adequate security of lives and properties.you go tey den. Goodluck sha |

Some of these diasporans make me laugh, they are neither here nor there, they don't identify with their country of origin yet they ain't accepted in the country where they live. Some of them have no social life there because they ain't accepted, so they spend all their time here on nairaland spouting drivel. |

Who says people in Nigeria don't sleep with both eyes closed? Some even sleep with their doors open, the wealthy ones inclusive. At least we can walk freely on the streets of Nigeria without the fear of being shot by a lunatic with licensed gun. Who knows which of them might just be a victim of the next public shooting/massacre. |

Moving back to Nigeria is like signing your death certificate. |

bebe2: Been 12yrs, coming wen security and power improves Power ? yes. security is neither here nor there. I have said this many times before. Lagos is much more safer than New york, Chicago or London. What we have in Nigeria are mostly economic driven crimes. Mostly petty thieves. People have to eat and the govt offers no social welfare package. |

"Home is where the heart is" & "Everything is not for everybody" I was in diaspora for 15yrs, got my qualifications, citizenship & a fantastic work history. I came home as a result of a mixture of circumstances & feelings. Desire to be closer to parents, as they are getting old, got bored of the UK despite having a good job (32K per annum not including benefits which for a single guy isn't bad), the economic outlook of the UK, getting a 2yr contract with a Gov Parastatal here in Naij. I packed up, got to Naij & after a few weeks started to get the feeling I might have made a wrong move. Due to my position, responsibility & having had all my my working life in the UK, I was stepping on toes in my work place. I didn't know that there's a difference between working in Naij & working in the UK. I paid for my ignorance. They flipped the script on me to the point where I wasn't paid for 6mths, my car was vandalized on several occassions & some other stuff. Ability to play office politics, Naij Style, is a must. Moving to Naij has cost me my savings, relationship & friends back in the UK. Everyday life in Naij has been frustrating. Driving, Banking, Telecomms, celebrating mediocrity etc. It has been a steep learning curve for me. Maybe if I had better guidiance things would have been different. I lost weight tho, I'm looking all trim now. Grateful for that. Now, I'm saving up to go back to the UK, doubt I will be back. Sometimes, it's the lilttle things. 1 Like |

My cousin studied Chemical Engineering at Swansea University in Wales. He was warned not to go to Nigeria to look for job but he moved back to Nigeria to do his NYSC in 2010. I am in the U.S and I warned him to stay in England because he is British Citizen but he didn't listen. He was boasting of making between 10-15 million a year in Nigeria after service. Guess what? He completed his NYSC service in 2011 and has not been able to secure a single job in Nigeria. He plans going back to Britain very soon. I recently stopped sending him $ on monthly basis. |

collynzo2: Your name is an apt description of you, cool story. 32k a year is 8million in Naira, people are earning more than that in a year here.If Nigeria is so "great" can you please tell us why the 1st lady goes to Germany for treatment? 1 Like |
