ndu_chucks: Justice would be fully served when Al Mustapha is fully reabsorbed into the army and given his rightful rank/position - Brigadier General/Chief Of Army Staff. Ihejirika has done enough harm to that office.

If GEJ does not have the stomach for that, Governor Al Mustapha or Senator Al Mustapha would be just fine, come 2015.

Nduka, guzzling down of Codeine is not doing you right at all. Especially now during fasting, you are probably consuming Codeine on empty stomach, making the effects more adverse. I advise you to seek help the Neuro Psychiatric Hospital in sokoto before you start walking around naked with dreadlocks.

Only in Nigeria could one spill such trash!!! Smh.
Since when did presidents in a democracy choose a people's governor or senator for them

The positions are based on apointment, they are based on election.

Even as a brigadier-general Hamza Al-Mustapha can be COAS. The post is just an administrative post. Yakubu Gowon was the COAS when he was a lieut-col. Even when holding this post there were high ranking officers like Samuel Ademulegun, Yakubu Pam, Abogo Largema, Kur Muhammad, Ralph Shodeinde, and so on. It's almost the same thing in universities. The highest ranking lecturer may not necessarily be the HOD.

manny4life:

That Nigeria did not have structure back then was a testament of our failure, the army now has good structure and balance. To assume the position of a Chief, in a good army structure, the top tiered ranking officers are only competent for such positions. You cannot retire Major General, Lieutenant Generals and Generals of the army only to leave a mere brigadier who was acquitted of a murder case to be the highest ranking army official.

Sorry bros, but this argument I'm not buying. Even in the US, Col and even Brigadier Generals are NOT part of the Joint Chiefs let alone being the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.

In other words, putting boko haram in charge of the Nigerian Army.

Ngwakwe: Now I understand, Ihejirika is my man while Al Mustapha is your man and by unwritten constitution the North is born to rule hence any other tribesman with a higher rank must give way for a coup plotter cum murderer to assume leadership of the Army and by extension to overthrow GEJ

That's how he thinks, mostly in one track.

What did you smoke today? You want to replace a disciplined officer with a common hitman? Try something else.

What happened to you and your respect for the rule of law? Did you read the opinion of the judge who set Al Mustapha free? How dare you call the man a common hitman while the real criminals are currently selling your inheritance to the Chinese without any protest from you people.

You are using the name boko haram loosely. BH is already in charge of most of your political institutions. The so called BH who are currently being hunted down by JTF are less dangerous than the ones in Abuja, Rivdr state and elsewhere.

Nwanyi maramma, I'm surprised that people like you fold your arms and watch without any protest when your President and his cohorts abuse you, infringe upon your rights, rob you silly, sell your inheritance to China, e.t.c.

You are wasting your passion and energy here. You should be asking whether GEJ and Iherijika are on crack.

Respect for rule of law after a weekend in which Al Mustapha and Zimmerman got freed? You have got to be kidding. Now that Al Mustapha has been freed, you want to highlight the merits of the Nigerian Judiciary, which most people know is almost as corrupt as the legislathief and executhief arms of government. Abeg make I hear word. Al Mustapha is a hitman and no amount of dancing in the North can change that. If anything it further exposes that the Northern mindset is not conscionable and that the North is lacking in real heroes when a murderer is held high as if he just returned from the battlefield. How can a people celebrate a murderer who allegedly killed or conspired to kill Kudirat Abiola and Pa Rewane?

As for your comments about criminals selling inheritance to the Chinese, see the following:
1. My inheritance in Nigeria is not being sold to anyone. I have no stake in Nigerian Government assets, revenue or debt.
2. I have commented on the demerits of Nigeria borrowing. Check my post history in the last week.
3. It is not relevant to this debate. We are simply debating the highly ludicrous and preposterous proposition you put forward.

Seriously, what were you thinking or smoking when you proposed that Al Mustapha be made COAS? (The people of his state can elect him as Senator or Governor if they desire an infamous character to lead them).

@Katsumoto, I challenge you to read the judge's opinion on why Al Mustapha was set free. Even in a currupt justice system, one can find pockets of justice snd fairness, as we found in this case.

You typically support your positions with sound logic and facts, so I am surprised that you keep calling a decorated soldier a hit man. Soldiers are trained to kill and sacrifice their lives for your freedom. Calling a good Nigerian soldier a hitman is hitting below the belt.

Hahahaha

We have to agree to disagree here. Your support and obvious admiration of Al Mustapha is not unconnected with him being from the same region as you. While one may not be surprised by your position, don't you think you are over reaching by expecting others to share your position?

In a nation where no one has been convicted for any assassination, Al Mustapha's acquittal is simply business as usual.

non semper erit aestas (It will not always be summer).
