Interesting picture.

Worthy of note is the soldier in the background. He appears to be carrying an FN rifle. This rifle had been phased out and replaced by the AK 47 on account of its unwieldy length for jungle fighting and its uncontrollable automatic fire compared with the AK (this draw back came to light in Liberia/Sierra leone, where the AK47's shorter range did not really matter on account of the close range nature of jungle warfare). Today in the North East, the short range of the AK has become a challenge and the FN with its range of up to 600m(compared with 300m for the AK) has become a life saver.

Good creative thinking.

That moment when you appreciate that the stuff men in uniform do is not for the fainthearted.

while others dig, others take watch and provide cover, bcoz the enemy could strike at any moment

But if the fn is not so good at jungle fighting, then why did the British use it during the Malayan emergency, and the federal Nigerian army use it in the civil war.

Good question but depends on who you are fighting. The biafrans carried bolt action rifles, am sure the malayan rebels were probably similarly armed.

The Liberian /Sierra Leone rebels on the other hand were well armed with AK 47s, and their fighting style was to keep out of sight close in and attack suddenly. This resulted in very short but intense firefights which required you to deliver a high volume of fire in a short space of time. The FN came a distant second best against the AK, which was shorter and easier to maneuver in the thick undergrowth and was more controllable in rapid fire mode.

Please I'm curious, how many shades and types of desert camo pattern do we have. I see different shades and pattern all the time.

And I thought the woodland camo has been replaced by the immediate past COAS, but I still see soilders wearing it.

Someone please help me out.

The FN is vastly more superior to the AK47. It fires a far more powerful round that punches through most cover and it is very accuret. All so you don't use full auto in battle. It only useful in limited cases such has supresing fire. There is is all the FN Fals with short barrels.

There are new versions of both woodland and desert camo.

Much older uniforms aren't been produced anymore, but you don't expect soldiers to just throw away their older camo.

It's a slow process, they would eventually be fazed out.

It is an un-related video, with no correlation with this thread. A simple link would suffice.

So it is not related to a discussion about the ak47 ? a video documentary about the ak47. Hmmm. Take care.

The Su-27 series of planes are some of the most beautiful, certainly the most elegant design of any fighter jet. The swan look can be identified from a 50 miles away, its just striking.

Why is Uganda better armed than Nigeria? Look at their fighters as well as their tanks. How comes they ca arm themselves that much especially considering their GDP. Is their military sustainable?
