2 mi 35 twice more expensive then 3 JF17 ? how ?

Possibly full payment for the Mi choppers(emergency requirements??) versus a phased (Pre Delivery Payment) payment for the JF-17 order

The SU24 has proven to be efficient at that. The EA-18G is also another dangerous EW aircraft.

34 soldiers missing after Cameroon army boat sinks

Thirty-four Cameroonian soldiers from the elite Rapid Intervention Brigade were missing Monday, a day after an army vessel capsized off the country's southeastern coast.

The ship was carrying 37 people, including crew, and was on its way to the city of Bakassi for refueling when it sank Sunday morning, Defense Minister Joseph Beti Assomo said in a statement.

"Thirty-four personnel are missing till now," he said. "Three soldiers were rescued but the boat seems to have sunk right down."

He said the circumstances of the accident were not yet clear but the waters were very choppy when it happened.

The Rapid Intervention Brigade is in the front line of Cameroon's fight against Boko Haram in the north.

Though Boko Haram originated in Nigeria, the Daesh-affiliated group has carried out frequent attacks in Cameroon, Chad and Niger.

Cameroon's Far North region, which borders Nigeria, has seen a resurgence in attacks blamed on Boko Haram after months of relative calm.

This month, two bombers blew themselves up in northeastern Cameroon killing 15 people in an attack blamed on Boko Haram.

Some 200,000 Cameroonians from the Far North region have fled their villages in fear of the violence.

I say SAAF buy a squadron of these and have them for coastal and border surveillance... Throw in the CSIR EW kits and replace the Dakota.

Sweetheart, NAF hasn't inducted the Tucano yet. What we received a couple days back is the Super Mushak from Pakistan, a basic trainer.

The Tucano is not a Fighter Jet either, it doesn't have a jet engine.

HUUUGE NEWS

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is taking part in Russia’s annual Army Games, and is scheduled to participate in six competitions.

The games’ organising committee recently said that South Africa will be one of the 32 countries to participate in the games and these include the new entrants of Israel, Fiji, Uzbekistan, Uganda, Laos and Syria.

Russia’s Sputnik news agency quoted South Africa's military attache in Russia George Sibanyoni as saying South Africa’s troops will participate in more than six competitions. He added that South Africa aims to further bolster more than 25 years of diplomatic relations with Russia.

South Africa sent observers to the Army Games competitions in 2016, which also saw several African countries participate: Angola, Egypt, Zimbabwe and Morocco took part. In 2015 South African Air Force Chief Lieutenant General Fabian Zakes Msimang attended the event.

The first edition of the games in 2015 was held in Russia, while Kazakhstan was a joint host for the 2016 edition. This year the games will be held in Russia, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and China, and will see five new competitions along with 28 existing events. This will include the participation of unmanned aerial vehicles, off-road vehicles, military and traffic police.

The games are scheduled to run between 29 July and 12 August. Competitions will involve tanks, artillery, air crews, paratroopers, warships, snipers, engineering corps, mountain units and medics, amongst others. Only Russia and China will take part in this year’s Aviadarts aviation competition, which will be held in China. The Sea Cup tournament will take place on the Caspian Sea with participation from Russia, Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan and Iran.

Russia invited 73 countries to participate in this year’s games, with 32 confirming attendance and 11 more expressing interest. Over 3 000 personnel from around 20 countries took part in the 2016 games.
