Trump calls presidents of Nigeria, South Africa

President Donald Trump has been increasingly chatting with other world leaders during his first weeks in office. On Monday he turned his attention to Africa.

Trump spent Monday morning calling two of the continent's most prominent leaders, Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari and South African President Jacob Zuma, to discuss combating terrorism, trade relations and other issues.
According to Buhari's aide, Femi Adesina, Trump assured the Nigerian president that the US is ready to help obtain "a new deal in helping Nigeria in terms of military weapons to combat terrorism."
In a statement to CNN, Adesina also said, "President Trump encouraged President Buhari to keep up the good work he is doing, and also commended him for the efforts made in rescuing 24 of the Chibok Girls and the strides being taken by the Nigerian military."

Patchesagain:

He is, for once, correct.

Food/Clothing Aid has destroyed small-scale farmers and textile markets.

Drought and natural disaster usually help in development,

Take drought for example: good/clever farmers are often in a better position than others during a time of crisis. Hence can sell their wares at higher prices (decrease in supply, increase in demand), thus they generate more capital. Because the drought has slaughtered the competition, and killed people themselves you now have an increased supply of land and a decreased demand to occupy it. Hence these surviving farmers are able to use the capital they generated earlier to buy the land of the farmers who have failed... expanding their operation, increasing their output and thus the cycle starts over - they generate more capital and use the capital to aquire more land to generate more capital. In a couple generations large scale commercial farms (though lacking sophistication) begin to arise.

Food aid destroys this natural cycle.

[PS: Look into the ANC's drought relief from last year and see if you can figure out what they are doing.]

The European renaissance, for example, was only possible because of the Black Death.

Patchesagain I love you bro, thank you for understanding. Rather than buy relief food from the region, enabling small scale farmers to have money to invest in irrigation, expand,... NGOs dump free food in a region, putting small scale farmers out of business; turning them into beggars. They cant even afford to grow food for themselves, ensures another drought next planting season.

Most NGOs would rather have Africa poor and uneducated because if not they would go out of business, rather than build capacity, enabling Africans to help themselves they actively conspire to have them remain poor even though this is mostly unintentional. I can give an in-depth explanation of what I am thinking but don't want to type a multiple page long post. This is a photo and video forum only.

Please lets stop the chit chat, that's you Africaken.

I have worked with NGOs for many different kinds of projects. The NGOs would either be local or foreign based... In South Africa, foreign NGOs collaborate with the local ones to bring tangible results on the ground.

If an NGO builds 20 houses for pensioners in a rural area using local material. How is that tampering with self-sufficiency? Would the pensioners miraculously build their own houses at their age? We have examples with orphans, health (which South Africa gets plenty of), even the city of Pretoria gets some US funding to supply free WiFi to Pretorians... How's that crippling self-sufficiency when they're actually helping the Municipality to deliver a service.

In the case of foreign food being supplied to drought victims. Do you honestly think Africa has food in surplus to buy from other parts then supply others. Did you know that even South Africa struggles to supply itself with maize in a case of droughts, how do you think they'll supply the rest of the maize-meal eating SADC facing the same droughts?

NGOs operate in Africa in such large numbers because the local governments can't provide even basic services to its citizens.

no matter how vigorously you try to disproove it, the textbook fact remains the same: poverty and lack of basic necessities are the root cause of most insurgencies. Insurgents are not rich people. They are poor radicalised people seeking for a better means to an end by taking up arms against the government. Overtime they begin to raise their own revenue through kidnapping, raids and loyalties or sponsorship. Book Haram fighter used arrows and dagars to operate in their early days until they began to raise funds to purchase much needed equipments to overrun police stations and later military installations. Majority of the youths in the NE live below poverty, they are uneducated and feed on the hand outs they get from the gates of big Alhaji's who they in return, help with menial job and stay loyal to. This boys are easily recruited into Book Haram and even if as we speak Bongo Haram gets a new sponsor and need to recruit 10,000 hardliners they will get them because people are ready to do anything to escape poverty. Or did we forget that even youths from the South where the grasses are greener often attempt to cross the Sahara Desert even after they have been shown countless pictures of dried up cadavers in the desert. When poverty is below poverty, there is nothing that people won't do to escape it.

If people from developed countries could join insurgent groups then you should have no doubt that the poor uneducated youths that abound in the dusty corners of this earth where insurgents recruits, will have no problem joining up.

There is no need to tell anybody that they don't have political knowledge because they say insurgency is poverty related because a politician that is just killing his poor people because they are taking up arms, instead of empowering them will end up killing everybody.

I have also worked and talked to people in the west who run NGOs, some to whom the NGOs basically as a source of income. One young lady I met had an advanced degree but was unable to get jobs in their fields in the west and resorted to starting an NGO and I told her of individual Africans who have come to the west gotten and education in her field and are thriving and prosperous while her with all the advantages she grew up with was unable to do as much. I urged her to help the poor in her country rather than try and go teach Africans because they are able to make the best decisions to lift themselves out of poverty if given an opportunity.

Thank you for all who do not agree with me

my brother pls excuse me but u are holucinating. In Africa it prosper or death we can make it pls. Do u know the amount of talent we have that are being employed for bad stuff and by the way u make Ngo's sound like GOD, what natural resource and human resource do their country of origion posses that we do not have. It about priority. We have people with barin and talent but have no power and the people with powers have no idea about how to run this field- PLO Lamumber. Two things a nation has to be disctatoral about is in the area of food production and medicine. No foriegner should be involed if we want to continue killing our self let leave it to others, it a perfect military strategy foriegners can use to low key control a population simple.

The black death reduced the popu increasing famers access to land on a whole lot of stuff that went on but whqt they will not tell u is that the moors which was another name for black people were the military power at the time. They thought them everything they know or built opun ask them who were their scientist and other priminents people's teachers. Simpel they were down we unfortunatly we educated them they kick us out of europe ask them why all the early saint and religious and scientific leaders were Africans and they used it to enslavef us whitewashed jesus.(they have been on the planet only 40000 years they are the newcomers)Jesus was born in the middle east which was north west or east Africa untill they built the Suez canal and called it middle east. Jesus was black wolly or nappy hair as stated in the bible. All of this is the source of conflict in the middle east that causef the rise of terrorism with the black and white mixed and sometime white people we call Arabs today. So before u understand what the big boys are doing know thy self learn ur history and u will understand why all of this are happing. They used our spirituality or our sacred science in Kemit against us not the morden egyptians against us remember it was not called religion. This is why the leaders and military fuys need to sturdy history from day one before christianity hay by the way the 10 comandment is actually 48 or something like that in the stone obvthe pyramid in Egypt before Christianity think about it. Bc all this terrisim has economic underpin to it but to undetstand the whole global scenerio u got to understand all of this. When did the bible say Israel will be created I know it is not know bc if they are jews then the profercy of them being shiped on bote as slaves across the ocean has not happend yet after the creation of the state that is when the crazy arab and morden terrorism started and our people begun using it as a means to solve crazy problems.72 vergins. Some are so smart they get theirs on earth before they die. I hopr it helps to give u an over view of the whole situation and how and why it is happening and those who are exploiting it.

Kenyan AMISOM Forces in Dhobley Helps The Needy With Relief Food

The Kenya Defence Forces soldiers under the umbrella of Africa Mission in Somali (AMISOM) on 19th January 2017 in Dhobley town embarked on a mission to help the needy locals with relief food. The exercise was done in conjunction with the Dhobley local administration who had accepted the good gesture by the Kenyan Contingent.
The Sector II forces in Dhobley have on many occasions provided support to the local communities in their bid to build and strengthen the relationship between its local administration and the Kenyan forces.
AMISOM is in the process of renovating the Dhobley District Hospital. The area administration thanked the AMISOM forces for the kind gesture displayed by their soldiers. “I assure you that we will do everything to support your forces in the fight against the enemy,’ one of the officials said.
AMISOM’s Sector II Commander Brigadier William Shume paid a courtesy call to the Dhobley District Commissioner Hassan Mohamed and thanked the Dhobley administration, further urging them to continue cooperating and supporting the Kenyan Contingent in carrying out their mandate.
He said that Kenya has always cooperated with the Somalia people and will continue helping them on many issues. The officials on the other hand thanked the Sector II Commander for visiting.
Present during the function were Sector II Commanding Officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel J E Adu, Senior Military Officers, Dhobley District Administration officials and the Kenyan soldiers.
