Norway's population of 5 million is roughly at par with that of Delta-State's 4.6 million according to the 2006 census. Norway's approximately 5 billion barrels oil reserves is equivalent to Delta-State's share of Nigeria's estimated 37 billion barrels oil reserves. Yet Delta-State currently has a debt of about $19 million hanging on the neck of present and future generations like the dangling sword of Damocles. On the hand, Norway's Oil Fund saved for future (unborn) generations is over $600 billion dollars and the largest private equity fund in Europe and this is besides the periodic voucher (oil coupon) sent to citizens of Norway as their share of the oil wealth of Norway!
Before you celebrate parties and Governors, let us check the debt they will be leaving their states. @[100484630009668:274:Hope For Nigeria] shares this. No need to alarm you but Look at ACN/APC Lagos with their huge revenue from Allocation and taxes. PDP Delta under Uduaghan and Ibori not that bad with our 18.9 mill debt compared to Lagos 611.2. Also comparing them to fellow high earners Akwa Ibom 61.6, Cross Rivers 113 and even Rivers at 36. The ACN and CPC and even Labour states are thus in no way better than PDP in frugality.
