We are all architects of our 'dirtiness' reasons been that all areas of society does not simply apply guidlines or provide adequate facilities/rules to curb the dirtiness |

I suspect its social proof otherwise known as herd mentality whereby individuals in a group can act together without planned direction. Folks like yourself need to go against the grain and chart new ways. www.gistinz.com |

Cos most Nigerians are dirty. Go to restaurants, bars and fast food places, if u see how unkempt their restrooms/toilets are, you might throw up. Fancy faucet, toilet seat and accessories; all made in China but not working. 1 Like |

tpia@: And how successful do u think such measure would pan out if there aint a rule on ground to cloth it around? Its more like taking drugs without prescription. A rule has got to be stamped out by the authorities involved, possibly with a fine/punishment for erring populace. That way, they'd take the measure serious. |

Its only when it is raining that most market becomes dirty because of all the pure water nylon , plastic bottles and others that the flood will be carrying about but if not for that i trust our iya loja and iyalaje they are very neat people . They always pay some people to sweep the whole market every morning . I have once sold things for my mom at the market place before . sweet old memories |

Fish market in Wallsall, Birmingham UK stinks like mortuary but it was clean I dint even see one fly apparently the council spray the place weekly you cant see fly oozing about, the floors are also concrete. Its a market an organic food stuff place its going to be dirty but I went to one market in Nigeria in Iwo Oyo state Nigeria, that place should be burnt down, the smell of Iru pete in one lane, the other lane na smell of eja kika, kerosene go join am. Blocked gutter go they bubble puupuu . Nigerian markets are dirty in a spiritual way. On the contrary the ALATE's are somewhat clean tho? those ones are a bit civilized

We don't have a maintenance culture that's why everywhere in Nigeria is dirty. I think our state and federal institutions need to create a department for maintaining our environment. Again, the environmental ministry that we have is being ran by crooks. They collect billions and vanishes into thin air. Poof! |

the main issue which might give the impression of dirtiness is if there's a trash collection problem, same as what obtains in the rest of nigeria.
that is true bad gov in nigeria come to ngwa road market aba very dirty envrmt

Segeggs: Petrol stations, pharmacies, supermarkets, boutiques etc are always clean but it beats my imagination how places where fresh food are sold in nigeria are always dirty; dirty grinders, dirty baskets, dust bin close to wares etc. I think there's this subconscious notion that, the dirtier the market, the more authentic or cheaper the produce. |

berem: Because buying food stuff from a dirty market environment is cheaper. There we go! I didn't even get to read this reply before I posted mine. Besides, most Africans cook outdoors any way, so what's the point of shoping at a clean market only to come home and cut your meat on a log near a pit latrine? |
