It was with great amazement and pity that I read through your article The Bitter Truth About The Igbo, By Femi Fani-Kayode where you poured out your frustration, chagrin and peeve on the Igbo state, and as a youth of Nigerian descent who has followed your arguments overtime, I couldn't help but imagine how frustrated you have become. Reading through the paragraph where you tried to analyze the events prelude to the 30months fracas that tried to bifurcate the Nation State and how ur premised it, I couldn't think more of you than an anti Igbo who has sought ways to abuse a haunted igbo nation. The events of the 60's happened in many African country whose independence way acquired 4rm the western world and was a necessary price to pay for the country to grow. Antagonizing the igbo state on this base shows how mundane and obscure backward and dark your mind is and as a human right activist you claim you are, you failed woefully. Having not set out to argue with you over who is the most successful in Nigeria, I wish to ask you sir, who kept this country in a state of poverty and decay after 8yrs of civil rule, I think u know the answer so well. Right from the days of colonization, westerners has never been for once committed to nation building and I am sure you are familiar with this quote from fredrick luggard: “Lagos has for 20 years opposed every Governor and has formented strife and bloodshed in the hinterland…, I have spent the best part of my life in Africa; my aim has been the betterment of the natives for whom I have been ready to give my life. But after some 29 years, and after nearly 12 years as Governor here, I am free to say that the people of Lagos and indeed the westerners are the lowest, the most seditious and disloyal, the most purely prompted by self- seeking money motives of any people I have met.” -Lord Lugard 1916. Reading you say that it was the yoruba nation that welcomed the igbos back after the war, I begin to wonder if u decided to make a fool Of yourself by writing or you set out to draw attention to yourself because it was your yoruba brother that posited that every igbo man be given £20 no matter how many millions he has in the pre war bank all in the bid to frustrate the igbo man. Mr Femi sir, I wonder which Nigeria tribe can survive under the type of antagonism the Igbos have faced and to think it comes from you, you have lost a great deal of respect. I think you should remember a legal adage that says that thoughts should come b4 action. |
