Comrade Ugwoke pointed out that the
money had been shared and out of the
N100 billion, N96 billion had been sent to
universities.
He added: “The committee is meeting
again on Monday (today), and by Monday,
the document will be out. This time
around, it is not only by giving
universities money, but it will be
monitored to ensure that the money is
used to transform the universities, to bail
universities out of the present situation
and develop them to an internationally
recognized university standard.”
...

My question:

WHAT IS THE REMAINING 4 BILLION NAIRA NOT SENT TO THE UNIVERSITIES MEANT FOR ?
If U reflect back to past post(last wk) wen ASUU only requested for 86billion contrary 89billion as argued by d minister of finance nd ASUU boss. I think Governor Suswan has solve d prob.

Our problem is the breed of clueless leaders in every sector of our society including the so called academia. our problem is lack of institutions not just infrastructure. without institutions to set and establish standards that N400b will be wasted as well as those in the past that were built and never maintained. if you have a beautiful school building without seasoned lecturers and professors, without clear academic standard, without a competitive learning environment you have nothing. that money will be spent in building a library without any modality of renewing the books and materials in there, hostels will be built without setting up well financed maintenance department to handle damages and degradation. we are just good at wasting
Re: ASUU Strike: Jonathan Approves N400bn Lifeline –SSANU by eldoradoxx: 1:08pm On Aug 19, 2013
The money Ngozi Okonjo said FG didn't have was for ASSU members allowances. Not for the infrastrctural development of universities. Again one other area that needs to be looked into is the cancer of corruption that has crept into the university management. It is not that govt especially FG is not trying in terms of funding of these schools. Huge sums are expended monthly to fund our schools, but corruption will not allow Nigerians see the effect. The schools management are neck deep into corrupt practices. VCs are now as rich as state governors. Feeding fat with monies ment for hostels, lab, library etc. Take University of Abuja for instance, the last visitation panel in its report declared that the school as small as it is has as much close to 8 billion naira in banks. Yet it took close down of the school more than 5 times for the VC and the management to provide facilities to enable NUC accredit its Engineering, Agric, Medicine and I think Computer science. With close to 8 billion and 25 years after it was establised, it still majorly operates from about 12 hectares mini campus at Gwagwalada whereas its close to 12 thousand hectares permanent site has not been developed to up to 10% So, it is not pumping monies to the universities that would solve the problem. Corruption needs to be fought too. Otherwise ASSU would be embarking on intermittent strikes to enrich the various VCs and management

If ur brain is working then u should have known that u dont have to spend every kobo that gets into ur hand. Some universities might need more money along the line and where do u run to? Stop hating everything about GEJ just cos u think APC is a better option. Be objective. Even the committee may need some money for logistics. So u think Susuwan has been using Benue state money to run around and host meetings. Dont run ur family like that- from hand to mouth.

The FG has not addressed the payment of earned allowances which was one of the reason the ASUU went on strike.I f you put #400bn in the universities without a happy workers,it will not succeed.I assured you that the money will vanished if the government refused to pay the arrears of the allowance and implement the said allowance.how can jonathan claimed ignorance of the agreement when he was the vice-president to president Yar Adua in 2009.Denial of the agreement is the highest form of corruption from the presidency. We now know that they do not mean well for nigerian masses. They are there for their selfish interest.Jonathan and okonjo Iweala should remember that they were teachers before their positions respectively. For okonjo to have said that there is money to pay universities workers demand is like biting the finger that fed her.Her father is a professor,if her father was not paid well, could he sponsor her education.Let she tell us how much is her salary monthly-in us dollar

this ASUU is very greedy and selfish. they are not talking of the rotten, smelly, decayed, defaced student hostels, toilets bathrooms, labs and lecture theatre and their ancient libraries that's filled with old vintage textbooks. they are only concerned about their pockets.
