There is no excuse for such callousness. Nwanne God bless u. People should stop calling FG, how can human beings( doctors for that matter) leave their patients to die because of money. Does life mean nothing to us nigerians. If u think u are not paid much, resign and allow others to continue with their work, after all most people working for companies don't get paid well and dey don't abandon their jobs. What is all these stupid news one hears from this country. Really thinks are getting out off hand oo. Please nobody should call the president, fashola did the same thing either last year in luth. Really all these nonsense has to stop |

Symphony007: Yesterday i reported on the decision of the joint health sector workers union nationwide to embark on a nationwide strike due to the federal government's decision not to obey the ruling of the national industrial court on better welfare packages for them. A country of lunatics run by lunatics. |

Zeeemo: The love of Money and Benefits over the lives of Innocent people...How Sadwill you feed their farmilies? What about the government's love for their personal salaries and it's wickedness to the workers. A nurse will work in a hospital on night shift with candle because the hospital has no light, every two minute a pregnant woman is in labour, a patient has gone critical...after all those stress at the end of the day she can't pay her kids school fees and provide food or pay her rent at the same time. If they continue to fane humanity and work, the government will ignore them and enjoy their millions in salaries and allowances. Let the nigerian people ask their government why a senator who attends sitting once a month, has recess all the time is earning 30 million while health workers who handle hundreds of patients in underequiped hospitals are earning peanuts. |

So they should keep quiet and suffer for extreme hardwork while government official live in opulence for little or no work. Let the president look into the eyes of those sick patients and tell them the nurses and doctors who take care of them on little salaries are the enermies and they, the government who earn millions in abuja and have constituted a state of hoi pollio in this nation are the good guys. |

owolabifunke14: Doctors should consider the stress mothers passes through during gestation periodI suppose you don't know that doctors are not part of this strike. Health workers union comprises medical lab scientists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists. Thus your ignorance is forgiven. I know so many other ignorant ones will target doctors for lambasting. |

If u can't make a living with what Fg is paying, start a mini biz and combine it with ur job. Bet me if there wants are met,it does not stop them from striking in the future. |

malele:healthcare is humanitarian? So the workers don't have farmilies to fend for? Bill to pay? Lives to live? Go find out what better nations pay first responders and health care personels. And the workers did'nt just go on strike, the sue the government and won, yet the govt. Refused to honour the terms. Reconciliation meeting were called and the govt. Ignored them. What do you expert? Don't you see anything wrong in a politician earning millions and a nurse earning peanuts? A price must be paid for change. |
Re: Premature Babies Abandoned At Makurdi Federal Medical Center Due To Strike by Symphony007: 12:52pm On Aug 23, 2013 |
malele:if the country is really unable to pay the wages then the workers will be wrong. But the money is there and is rather shared amongs thieves. If the workers did'nt take the step of strike and continue humanitarianizing, the govt will expliot that and keep things the way they are. Now let the government see the consequencies of it's idiocy. A price must be paid for change to happen. |

I have read so much of your post and you are not in anyway different from the government you are accusing. Health Professionals are bunch of rogues and I think it is high time the government took an action against you guys. If you don't like the pay, then leave the job. Most civil servants don't earn as much as you guys do and yet the government regards your request based on the position you guys hold. If you do not cherish the life of your patients, you can leave your job. 1 Like |

the doctors are the problem of health sectors, Doctors are not on strike, but other health workers, they think they know it all and want to be head of pharmacists, medical laboratory scientist, nurses, physiotherapy, and dont want other profession to go higher like they are enjoying, they even have the guts to withold other profession promotion letters and made them stagnant without attaining Director level, now every other profession are asking for what belong to them, since they can do everything let them do it alone. 1 Like |

Zeeemo: The love of Money and Benefits over the lives of Innocent people...How Sadmind you the doctors are not on strike, maybe you should try and do your investigation properly b4 commenting, because the Doctors are not the only profesional working in the hospital, the health worker are only asking for equal right in the health sector, and not be treated like a second hand citizen in dia country, and if you graduated ur other colleagues are place on level 9 as entry point, but only u are place level 8 for no reason, just because the doctors dont like u and they are the head, you would just accept your faith, and you are not allow to get promotion upto a Director level in your profession, the DOCTORS are the problem of health sector. |

Sometimes, reasons given by some of these labour unions for embarking on industrial actions are merely selfish and laughable. Why on earth would a health worker jeopardize the health of a fellow human being and even pre-mature babies, just because of "better welfare packages"? There is even a welfare package on ground abi? What they are agitating for now is a "better" one. Human beings are soooooooo very insatiable. |
