jelmusboy: Give them a call, they may decide on it over the phone. After all its an e-visa. On a serious note, they have timelines on their website. You'll see how long is estimated time for your country. |

Hello, can somebody assist regarding newzealand student visa procedure? I already secured an unconditional offer of place at UC Christchurch for PhD Civil Engineering. I have paid the first year Tuition fee only personally ,for there is no funding(scholarship) presently. Do I need to pay Tuition fees for the remaining 3 years considering a 4 year PhD plan? This is for Visa application . Please advise me cconcept: |

I applied on the 13th May in the UK cos am residing here. I sent my passport to visa office on Monday 14th May which was received on the 15th of May. INZ sent me a mail to send them my employment and education history which I did immediately on the same 14th May and my account was debited for the handling and courier fees. On Friday 18th May, I got a mail from DHL that my passport has been handed over to them by NZ Visa application centre. Expected delivery date of my passport is 21st May. So, what does this mean cos I am confused myself. Do they just need to verify my passport and return or what? Obumnemeuzua: |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by futureenergy: 6:36pm On May 19, 2018 |
jelmusboy: Yeah. They just need to confirm your identity and send the passport back to you. |

Alright, thanks. Will they need to request for my passport again if the visa is approved or will get it as email? futureenergy: |

Guys, pls what is this issue of sending back passport to Pretoria for the second time? Anybody encountered same? |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by Delvindy: 10:05pm On May 28, 2018 |
futureenergy:They will only ask for your passport again if you got denied visa at first and you had to reapply, like it happened to my friend. Sending your passport there is just for verification. Did they ask for your passport again? |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by futureenergy: 11:12pm On May 28, 2018 |
Delvindy: Yes, the requested I scan all the pages of my passport and upload to the application portal. Then afterwards, I should send the passport back to the VAC for "procedural scanning". I don't know if anyone has experienced this. They seem not to know that sending this to and fro with DHL is over 50k. |

BaniB: Hi BaniB, I also applied to UC and got an offer...PhD Civil engineering (I was really expecting the UC doctoral scholarship but i was not given).... I was at christchurch last year for a semester at Lincoln Uni so I visited UC where I met with other PhD students from Nigeria (self-funded). I asked similar question from them.... Paying the tuition for the first year is enough + the 15k living expenses. visa is renewed yearly for self-funded students. Immigration only grant four year visa for scholarship holders. I think you could apply with the first year tuition (NZD 8130 or so) except you have the whole tuition for the whole program. It is also possible to get a funding in the second year.. Goodluck.. Well might meet later 1 Like 1 Share |

Is TOEFL or Itels compulsory even for Nigerians considering PhD in New Zealand |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by futureenergy: 12:09pm On Jul 04, 2018 |
Onyiye0691: It depends on the school. Pls do enquire from the school. I know University of Auckland requests IELTS from Nigerians if your last educational qualification was obtained over 2 years ago. Massey waived it. |

Hello guys, I applied for my student visa and INZ has been doing so many checks and verification, they in fact called me on phone to ask some questions. Yesterday, they requested that I sent my passport to them again for further checks and screening. Is this normal? |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by futureenergy: 10:26am On Jul 05, 2018 |
jelmusboy: I passed through same. I wasn't particularly happy with the new method of sending passport twice, so I queried it. After their explanations, I was still reluctant but they insisted. They only issued the visa after I had sent the passport back. However I made it clear to them that as their VAC is not in Nigeria, the risks and costs of sending passports to South Africa twice should be given consideration. |

Can they still refuse one visa after sending this passport the second time? futureenergy: |

Goodday house, today make it 2 weeks now that i submit my student visa application online then i have attached all the necessary document, hope i will soon get a reply from them but i discovered that by 3 weeks, they would have processed the application upto 75% from the mail i got from them after they acknowledge the receipt of my application. But by that 3 weeks, will they contact me for any update? Thanks. abusaibu@yahoo.com 08055264116 1 Like |

Hi Lawprince and Delvindy, your discussion has been very insightful. @ Lawprince, Please how did your visa application work out? Was the scholarship letter enough to see you through or did you later submit additional docs for the flight ticket? Delvindy: |
Re: General New Zealand Student Enquires by Nobody: 2:25am On Jul 18, 2018 |
JahSaySo: Thanks for asking. It was eventually approved, and I've been in NZ since April. The scholarship letter was sufficient for the financial requirement, but I later uploaded a bank statement as proof of onward travel (not upon request). It is also advisable that you provide evidence of family/economic ties with Nigeria. Good luck! 1 Like |

Give them 1 to 2 weeks after the second passport submission. However, I wouldn't know if every candidate has same timeline. |
