My ever keen and astute viewers, please
join me as we take a short view into the
life of Paul of Tarsus whom many
call Paul the Apostle but for the sake
of this note I would call him Paul the
christian. This I hope would help us draw useful lessons that'l benefit our
christian race. For the sake of space, this
note will focus on a part of Paul's
life.
My decission to use the title Paul the
Christian was born out of the fact that many men of God have forgotten that no
matter their office they are still
christians not christ(be you an apostle or
a bishop),before Paul became a
christian,he was an antichrist cuz he led
an active crusade against the church and by his deeds many people in the faith
were lost to death(but were gained by
resurrection),his call into the faith is
like that of many of us;he saw
christ,he realised his wrong,and
followed christ<acts9:6>. He walked with God and performed
wonders<acts19:11> confirming Gods
word<in Jn14:12>to believers(please
note). The focus of this note however is
not on the works God did through him
but the life he lived which is more important.
Paul is a very good example of a
christian,as against the perfect picture
that is usually painted of him,he had
his ups and downs just like you and
I,and at everymoment he erred,he always came back. At one point in his ministry
he quarrelled with his partner
(yes,quarelled)<acts15:36-41,see also
acts13:13> Barnabas,it was so serious
that the both of them went their seperate
ways, the issue was resolved eventually but it is important for you to know so
that you remember he was human, and so
were the other disciples, there was even a
time Paul himself rebuked Peter(the
same Peter whoose first sermon won
over 3000souls) openly for behaving unapostolically(permit me to use
that)<Gal2:14-21>,what would serve as
a pointer to all of us that we can go
wrong too(sometimes people will be
there to correct us) and going wrong
does not mean we should stay wrong, everytime you go wrong always
find a way to return to the wright
path,for every time you fall,stand
up,dust yourself and continue your
journey. The God that died for you is
always there to see you through. Paul also had infirmities,he was
tormented by satan<2cor12:1-9> so much
that he prayed that it should be taken
from him,in a manner that resembles our
daily trials,hurdles,and temptation,each
person having a different gravity of pain, but God's grace was what kept him
through,it wasnt all rosy,he had
challenges that set him down but he
withheld his ground.God's grace is
available for you no matter the
situation. It might seem unending but if Paul could end well, you can end
well,<in 2cor11:24-27>Paul explained
some of his sufferings,situations that
seem hopeless but God saw him through
and He will see you through. Some
would say he could always come back because he was Paul, yes,he was Paul
but he had the same spirit with you
(although different anointing) and
thats what you need to be the son of
God<Rom8:14> and ultimately make
heaven. This man worked for God and at the
end he boldly said<2tim4:7>that he
fought a good fight, you too can say
that, someone in the future might write
about you like this but it is up to you to
fight the good fight,to rise when you fall,to be strong in the face of trouble
and be steadfast in your faith.
I have evidently shortened the lot I
have for you as a result of limited
space, there is a lot to learn from Paul's
life(you can go ahead and study for yourself, reading through the acts of
the apostles and his epistles) but I hope
this little has been useful enough,do
well to contact me for any misconception
you might have.
I will end with this illustration;the eagle carries the eaglet(yet to fly)
above the clouds and drops it,she flies
straight down the eaglet's path and
spreads her wings. She does this in
hope that the eaglet will fly,but then
she remains down with her wings spread wide to be able to catch the
eaglet incase the eaglet fails to fly
and fall. God hopes you'd fly
always,He has however made
provisions for you incase you fall
(redemption),He is there to catch you,he wont allow you crash. For those of you
who see a member in the faith fall, dont
criticize him/her(thats like shooting at
your fellow soldier who fell in battle)
instead help them to stand and lead
them to the true path, this way you wont loose a won soul. May God give us the
understanding we recquire IJN,amen.
