Why Do Lagosians Fear Cats? by Nobody: 5:29pm On Jun 19, 2008 |
I have noticed a morbid fear that many Lagosians have for domestic cats. Most claim that cats have something to do with witchcraft (or words to that effect). I cannot reconcile this fear with all the bible-believing and quoting , tongue-speaking, vigil-going, fasting, casting, binding, mosque-going, etc etc Why do so many Christians and M'uslims who believe strongly in God have such fear of cats and witchcraft? |

detruth:This is not the issue. It is this blending of Christianity and witchcraft that has led to the corruption of churches in Nigeria - and to the corruption of Nigeria as a country. The more the number of churches, the more the number of hungry, sick and ignorant people; and the deeper the corruption in goverment offices run. Many of our presidents and governors have one leg inside ogboni (or one diabolical sect or the other) and the other leg inside the church. |

Maybe cause many african mythologies and cultures have connected cats to the underworld and even before Christianity came into Naija we did the same. I don't know anywhere in the bible where a cat is mentioned with any significance or if there is please someone enlighten me |

Cats are my favorite animals. I love their cleaniness and their freedom. I love them, because the prophet (AS) loves them. They are the only animal that can be kept in the masjid. Its different from dogs that must be kept outside, even in the house. Dogs can be owned for specific reason; guarding, hunting and as assisting the infirmed, eg sight assisting dogs. |
