There are times when celebrities have to make themselves relevant. What with their questionable morals etc. So I will tell you about one from Kenya who has just done that.

There was this village girl, who was lucky to be judged the most beautiful in Kenya. Well, she may have been beautiful from among those who paraded themselves, but there were more beautiful girls among the spectators, but who cared. So she became Miss Kenya.

Then she started doing what most of these girls do. Looked for the men with most money. She became famous for being hooked to different men all the time. In a year. she had had some 18 of them. And that was the only achievement of note.

Then when everybody had forgotten about this airhead, she had a brainwave. She was going to fight JIGGERS.

You see, this girl comes from a jigger-infected area of Kenya. She probably had them when she was young. But not many of us are so lucky. So when she said she was going to eradicate jiggers, everybody laughed. What was thie scatterbrain upto? Media people laughed too. Ministry of Health officials said there was nothing wrong.

But media people got curious, so they went with her to her home area. What was brought onto tvs and newpapers shocked everybody. Grown-ups and children who could not walk. Schools abandoned; disfigured limbs. Nobody laughed anymore.

To cut the story short, the former airhead is now a celebrity. She is feted by Ministers and International officials. She addresses international conferences. Major firms come to her aid. So do UN bodies. She is even featured in a TV advertisement. And she is laughind all the way to the bank.

Can one of them in Nigeria fight the bugs from her area? It does pay. Why not fight bedbugs, eeh?
