Sincere 9gerian: Nonsense! If not for anything, for the mere fact that Boko Haram and other DESTRUCTIVE elements said GEJ must not seek re-election, GEJ MUST now seek re-election. GEJ must go for his CONSTITUTIONALLY guaranteed second term even if it means balkanising the country. There's nothing any EVIL group, power mongers or sycophants can do about it.

Where were these evil merchants when IBB ruled for 8 years without the consent of Nigerians? Where was Boko Haram when Abacha ruled for 5 years (just about 1 year after the 8 year rule of IBB) and was about making himself civillian president before death came calling? From 1979 till 1999, we had an unbroken chain of northern head of state/president (save for the less than 1year rule of Shonekan). That is a period of about 20 solid years. Why didn't the southern part of country make the country ungovernable or create its version of Boko Haram? Nonsense!

GEJ contesting is no longer about personal ambition. It is now about showing some people that they cannot climb to power on the back of terror and blood shed. It is now about proving to some people that other parts of the country are ALSO born to rule the country.

The president of Nigeria is the president of EVERY part of Nigeria. He is not only the president of Boko Haram troubled states like Borno and Yobe. He is also the president of the relatively peaceful states like Enugu, Ebonyi, Anambra, Delta, Imo, Abia, Cross River, Lagos, Ekiti, etc. He also has responsibilities to Nigerians in those relatively peaceful states in terms of infrastructural development, job creation, health, education, etc.

As for the Boko Haram troubled states, the president has discharged his constitutional responsibilities to them, as much as possible within the limits of high insecurity in those places. Work on certain sections of Kano-Maiduguri road project has been stalled as we speak, not because of lack of funds but because of Boko Haram. Same applies to PH-Maiduguri railway project. Under GEJ govt we've seen a situation where even when govt puts money on the table for project execution, projects are stalled in north due to Boko Haram. Who then do we blame? Those funds should be diverted to address the needs of relatively peaceful parts of the country. Govt has also deployed troops and declared SOE. If those are not enough, and if the violence will not stop except GEJ steps down, then GEJ can NEVER step down. He can NEVER forgo his right to seek re-election. We'll see who gets tired of the violence.

Has anyone noticed that the Borno youths (civillian JTF) who got tired of the killings, took their own destiny in their hands and fought to push back Boko Haram, have not received ANY word of commendation or appreciation from ANY of the prominent northern leaders (political or religious)? Yeye dey smell!

Note: The WORST evil people can do after reading this post is to attack the messenger (me). I'm ready and already used to their attacks. So lets go!

This is your best post! This has summarised the problem of Nigeria today! I don't support GEJ (by extension you) today because he failed me (I campaigned for him) all round. I believe he has a right, no one should arm twist him and take his right.
Nigeria is for all Nigerians, nobody is more Nigerian than the other! The North keeps pulling us down with their archaic thinking...this is 2013, the focus should be "who is more capable" and not "who is from the North".
I know that GEJ has access to Security Reports/Intellegence...Okojie is not wrong, he should ensure no blood is shed as he declares.

God bless Nigeria.

wirinet:

I usually do not respond to paid hacks, as it is like arguing with a recorded video. Every thing is pre-recorded and they just spew out the messages without thought. but I will briefly comment here.

So you suggest GEJ should see his presidential ambition plunging this country into a civil war and go ahead just to show he is brave? Do you know how many millions of lives that would be lost in the course of a civil war ( including Ijaws and Igbos), not to talk of tens of millions that would be displaced. I am sure you will be the first to run into benin republic at the first sound of gun shots.

Now I am not saying jonathan should cower out and give into threats and intimidation, what I am saying is that he should use tact, diplomacy and negotiations to manage the situation. OBJ could also have caused crisis by holding unto power illegally by ramming the third term on us, but he used tact and wisdom to bow out while imposing an uninspiring Yaradua and an unambitious Jonathan on us.

To me the masterstroke would be for Jonathan to shelf his presidential ambition and impose an igbo president (maybe Okonjo Iweala), even if it is with a promise for a single term. That way he will checkmate the "born to rule" northerners and become a legend in the south( especially for the igbos).

Jonathan impose the big ball of fat Iweala, who has completely mismanaged the nation's economy by lies while keeping her own children away in America? Some people are just dumbdull! How can retardeen GEJ even nominate a candidate on PDP where he is already on sinking quicksands? Now to talk less of imposing a fat bag of beans? I don't think either of them will even be around to see the end of it!

I do not want to see the day the president should abandon his\her ambition to contest election on the urging of deluded onlookers such as you.
Agadi Nwoke, it surprises me that you're saying this. Are you no more the "lecturer" you claim to be? Can't you reduce your level of subjectivity?

of Nigeria is bcause of GEJ's ambition! And that is wrong. Nigeria will
be a safer place as soon as a change in leadership occurs (no matter
who replaces GEJ) and we it should not be 2019 but 2015!

Pls sycophants let GEJ leave in 2015 so as to save this country. We
should not destroy this country cos of one man's greed for power that we

Reference Archbishop Okogie Emeritus on ‘’don’t Run for 2015
Presidential Elections Warning to President Goodluck Jonathan.

Many Nigerians have asked me to comment on the Archbishop Emeritus
Okogie’s warning that President Goodluck Jonathan should not run for the
2015 Presidential elections for, as he puts it, it would not augur well for all
Nigerians if President Good luck Jonathan runs for the elections.

We all know that the majority of these men of cassock who are ignorantly being manipulated by the oyinbos to indoctrinate our people with false concepts concocted to perpetuate their stranglehold on the spirits of our people are a bunch of failures and frustrated folks who are facing disgrace for selling the African future into the winds in the name of religion, without any conscientious approach to build sound and solid foundations and structures to ease lack of food, housing, good transportation system, based on the effective management and control of our human and material resources with deep respect for and recognition of truth, love, peace, hard work, intelligence, merit, accountability, justice, equality and transparency because their minds are jinxed.

Therefore the Archbishop emeritus would not support any person or persons who would want to assert their legitimacy and freedom to express oneself in any given arrangement where those core values which can transform society higher, safer and secure like as in the case of President Goodluck Jonathan who has successfully steered the ship of state under terrifying, dangerous and tempestuous situations in a country where about 160 million people have been spiritually enslaved by the two major religious groups the homosexuals and boko haramites, using all kinds of laws psychologically created to cunningly control, milk and Sapp Nigerians turning majority of the people into morons and beleaguered.

We know the Archbishop knows very well that some of the top leaders up to the rank of the Popes , have apologised to blacks for holding the blacks backwards and this is not different from the Nigerian project where for 100 years the Buckingham Palace has used our northern oligarchies to put the progress of this nation on hold before President Goodluck Jonathan came on board with threats that if they the untouchables born to rule northern oligarchy did not win they would make governance impossible and that gave birth to boko haram to destabilise and create an impression that all is not well with us.

We therefore wish to categorically warn the Archbishop to steer clear out of the pulpit because he lacks the purity and power of the tongue through which the Creator always conveys His message to man. He should start asking the Creator to also forgive him for not telling the truth about Nigeria and Nigerians and until he is able to give us the new name of the political party he wants to register and when he is going to announce his presidential ambition to contest for the next presidential elections, he should shut his dirty mouth.
It was the Archbishop some years back who announced that one Papa Odili would be become the president of Nigeria and it did not happen not because Papa Odili was not qualified but he as a man of God, incapable as he was then, did not tell Papa Odili that he Archbishop was not the right person to help him nor did he find time to investigate the authenticity of all the atrocities and fraudulent cases levelled against and in order to advice Papa Odili but went ahead with that proclamation and failed and disgraced.

Nigerians should not take this man of God seriously because by insulting the Presidency and our President, with the above interview in the Guardian Newspapers of 22nd September, 20l3 he should not forget that he, the Archbishop, the G7 Governors, Baraje, El Rufai and all those who threatened to make Nigeria ungovernable should Dr. Goodluck win the elections are not above the laws of this great country and therefore should realise that they cannot make any further inflammable statements that would threaten the security of the people and Nigeria as a whole. We all know that one way or the other they re yet to confess that they are the ones sponsoring boko haram secretly to further foment trouble and so they should not forget that, in the end, Nigerians would call them to account for such cupidity with the destruction of innocent lives and properties. The Northern Oligarchy has failed in every way to qualify for the Presidency for now for their inability to even control boko haram right in their faces in a place where we have so many highly qualified retired and serving military citizens..

As far as all sincere Nigerians are concerned, tribalism, ethnic violence, , religious fanaticism, injustice, greediness, hatred, apartheid, poverty, misery, sadness, etc., which has been proved beyond reasonable doubt are the by products of federal character and zoning which to our minds have come to an end with the tortuous and painful journey we made from 1914 till 29th May, 2011 when President Goodluck Jonathan came on board.

Nigerians want the best for themselves and the Creator has blessed them stupendously and now any Nigerian can aspire to reach any height without fear or favour and therefore all hands should be on deck to assist the Federal Government to maintain peace, law and order, security and provide enough for all to eat, drink and be merry for the past state of apostasy is gone and gone forever whether the Oyinbos and their stooges like it or not, Nigeria will not break. Lets give peace a chance.

I weep for Nigeria, see the level of bigotry that people are displaying here. Whose business is it whether Jonathan run or not? The likes of Shagari, Obasanjo and Yar adua ran democratically but did their tenure give us stable electricity and economic transformations? The elites run for themselves when they get there they stuff their pocket with the loot.

If GEJ running will break up of Nigeria, Lord please do me this favour and i wont ask for anything again, please MAKE GEJ RUN. I am not a fan of GEJ but people shouldnt tell him not to run, could they have tried that with OBJ? My grouse with GEJ remains his open celebration of wanton corruption, his inability to tame his wife initially and his economic reforms that aint working, if he changes all that today he has my votes.
