Sagamite: Me? Nothing. It's up to indigenous Africans, not an expat/immigrant (haven't decided) like me. I know that were it to be the case in China, that European hold such sway in the economy, it would be unacceptable to the Chinese people. |

Out of the four Nigerians in this list, I only rate Dangote as the only genuine entreprener, although he can be justifiably accused of enjoying too much government patronage over the years. Maybe Adenuga might get a look-in, but too much of his supposed wealth is allegedly held in trust for IBB (and he is entirely an.IBB creation) to be taken seriously. As for characters like Folorunsho Alakija and the Chagoury Brothers, their inclusion in the list is a ridiculous travesty. The Alakija woman cannot teach even primary school pupils anything about entrepreneurship - simply because she knows nothing about it. A mere tailor was gifted a prolific oil block on account of her 'friendship' with IBB and his wife, and she immediately entered into a "joint venture agreement" with an oil major. . .which means she effectively sits on her cute butt and collects million dollar E&P royalties every week for doing NOTHING. Such shameful profiteering and rentiership should jot be celebrated, for it impoverishes an untold number of ordinary people just to enrich one lazy woman somewhere. As for the Chagoury clan. Those crooks have done more to facilitate high-level corruption in Nigeria than anyone else in Nigeria's history. They are the grand masters of money laundering, and their wealth is inextricable from the laundered funds of their long list of 'clients' since Abacha. The most notable of their current clients is the Emperor of Lagos himself, Bola Tinubu. A sizable portion of Tinubu's loot is disguised as Chagoury investments, and these do not even include the billions surreptitiously stashed away in offshore accounts by these gifted money launderers. They have no business in any list of Richest Africans, insofar as such a list purports to include only genuine businessmen with verifiable assets. 1 Like |

Sagamite: To put it bluntly, I don't expect Africans to get the wealth back from them at all. I hope to be proved wrong though. |

meccuno: Never had a single respect for dangote.....too much govt influence...besides,what are the lessons learnt from his activities as a business man......at least,we have coscharis, adenuga to mention a few you literally sold water to a well......but dangote, the only thing I learnt is that once you come from a hausa fulani stock, everything is okay.... ---abeg u have 2 give credit 2 whom it's due n Dangote rely deserves some credit 4 his achievements. K, 4 building his wealth from his govt connection, were his govt friends dashing him money everyday to amass his wealth?...No! Just like every other billionaire that has smartly utilized the opportunities of having the connection with people in power, Dangote has also followed suit by smartly utilizing d opportunity to greatly expand n build his wealth. K, imagine if Mrs Alakija wasn't a designer 4 d late Maryam Babangida, would she have gotten d oil bloc which led her 2 her path to great wealth today? K, did u know that d oil block she got had a very small profit potential compared 2 d oil blocs allocation that others with same govt connection got, but look at how she smartly explored d opportunity of her own oil bloc allocation 2 expand n build great wealth 4 herself. Imagine her business creative vision how smart she was from being a clothing designer to a billionaire oil tycoon. My point is that just having d connection with people in power is not enough 2 propel u to a billionaire status, but u urself have 2 be creative n business saavy enough to know that just knowing those people in power can be a great opportunity that u can use n maximize 2 build great wealth 4 urself n it's not everybody that can know n utilize this opportunity. It's not an easy task, we just have learn from them |

cachal: Am not really moved, most of this people did not start small, they are all highly favoured.. and from the article they all graduated abroad. What a foolish opinion! So na dem tell God 2 born dem in a privileged family. Haven't u seen people born in a rich family, but ended up dying poor? It's really about where u're that matters, but rmather it's mire about having a vision of what u want n then using what u want to get what u want. It might be mire difficult 4 u if u're born in a poor family, but if u push hard enough with enough smart moves, u'll eventually get there. So, my friend, if u're in a poor family don't get discouraged that u can never make this list, but just set ur goals n make some smart moves n u'll see how ur life will be transformed 4 d better over time It's not about being born rich or poor, but rather 1 Like |
