Just a curious outsider.... have a question. As I understand it... shale rock is where the focus is regarding gas and oil exploration and extraction....and the method is fracking. Are the local universities offering courses in these relatively new technologies?...or trying to keep up to date?....just curious. |

I guess you are talking about shale gas which has seen US less interested in our oil as they have projected their telescope to explore this new findings to highest maximum potential. It would be better if you look for outside schools within the US and Canada where you can study this courses. Originalsly: Just a curious outsider.... have a question. Good morning OP, I'm sorry if I'm breaking d rules of this thread but I studied Physics but did my project in Geophysics. My supervisor taught me how to use Geosoft then and after graduation, I still helped an Msc student to analyse his project using d software. My question now is........... Will switching to the geophysics line be easy for a physics graduate and if it is, how can I go about it? I finished from OAU with a very good CGPA. ASSU has kept me waiting since Feb for Nysc.. What can u advice to be doing at d moment before d Nysc call up |

most of the interest i see here are in petroleum exploration.i have more academic fluency in sediment study/sedimentology.are there any good working prospects for sedimentologist.and before i ask any one here for softwares.i would like to request that any one wit good understanding of them should give a brief summary of the different software a young geologist should master and their function.because i am sure a lot of us would like to learn a little about them.thanks |

Re: Geophysicists, Geologists, & Petroleum Engineers: Professionals & Aspirants by Nobody: 8:15am On Nov 15, 2013 |
I am not categorically sure whether their evaluation is accepted in other countries(possibly though) but US is a sure thing and they will offer you direct Msc for your course as their grade point is on 4.0 scale which same as Nigerian Poly. schools. It cost around $100 though. Another thing is that you are likely to get more grade than you had in Nigeria by the time the conversion is completed due to other factors such as cours unit and time expended in each course per semester. There are other factors too but these are just the basics. Good luck! i_shekinah: |
