If he knows a lecturer or someone who has slots, he could be. Kinda, i got the admission when i had resumed as a pre-degree student, and medicine was surer if i completed the programme.

My aggregrate was 248 and i don't think it's possible. As whales said earlier, if you're given a course in the college of health sciences, you can't cross within the college.

.yes u can't cross within d college. its not allowed. but u can change your course be4 matric if u have "long legs"

Well, if i did, i might not have been that serious about medicine due to school stress, lectures et al and besides, i'd already paid for the pre-degree programme.

This connection thing is not so clear to me. Does it work for the less competitive courses only or with the competitive ones too?

It does, for all courses, but, there are so many factors involved. They are: the strength of your connection, your aggregate et al. If your aggregate is too low compared to the cutoff for a very competitive course, say medicine, you may have to look for another course.

okay nice. Why i got confused is: if oau gives, lets say 50 slots for pharmacy and the cutoff is 250, it means that just 50 students scored 250 and above. Now would there be space to slot in the 'connected candidates'?

Well, i think that not up to the required number meets the cutoff so that 'connected candidates' can be pushed in.
