EverestdeBliu: Now that you quoted this, I see it needs punctuation. "la lik'ah" Translation please. |

I remember why no punctuation now. I don't like how it looks with punctuation. I decided to just put a question mark at the end. 1 Like |

SADOWS OF YESTERDAY by Tex I wish the hands of time would turn; Spin back to simpler days without concern. Back to a time and place when old bridges, I did burn. There are moments, though fleeting, I do yearn, When memories start to churn, And the shadows of yesterday begin to sojourn. I wish...but no. Would I want to unlearn, And spurn The lessons and knowledge I have earned, To visit the "Past Regrets" tavern. Father Time commands the urn That one day will overturn, And chime the time to adjourn. |

This is quite impressive. Lol at the copyright disclaimer. I hope you have attorneys in Nigeria who would sue any offending party on your behalf. |

CFCfan: Know the law for your location. If your country is a signatory to the Berne Convention for the Protection of Literary and Artistic Works—and that covers most countries in the world—then your work is protected from the moment you create it in a format that is "perceptible either directly or with the aid of a machine or device." Nigeria is a signatory to the Berne Convention. That means I automatically own the copyright to any original work I create—as long as I commit it to readable form. According to applicable law in most countries, including Nigeria, I own the copyright to my work as soon as it is fixed in a readable format. By placing the copyright symbol (©) on my work, I am telling others that I know my rights, and gave a legally-relevant date of original publication. 2 Likes |

At best, realistically Texonamaly, they are best kept at average. I love your word play but poetry has evolved that, people now want something enticing. Read these two pieces of mine and get my point, much love dear . TWELVE MONTHS Since January, I have been watching, carefully stalking Hoping and praying that someday we would start talking Right then in February, I made the first move ‘Cause I wanted you in my life as a permanent ‘groove’ Still in February, month of love, spirit of valentine I bought you gifts and for you I robbed, almost face the guillotine Month of March, we became alien, like friends in Palestine I kept hoping and became as soft as galantine April ravings, I told you my mind You laughed at me; your bravery was one of a kind I never saw you through till June and my love for you, still confined You hugged me with tears and said yes! Crazy; my state of mind We were all love and smiles till late August When you went down in severe chills and left my mind scattered like sawdust In three weeks you were hairless, was this the same beauty goddess? Was this the same lady whom I proudly called the cutest? Early September, doctor said you had critical cancer “Is this the end of me?” you asked, no was my answer You braved it and in September, you learnt and became good dancer November came, you were weak, down very much with bosom cancer I prayed to the heavens but all I got from God was silence In your face was total sadness, your heart full of dryness December came and you were lively, went on my knees and thanked His Highness You kissed me and two days later you were cold and lifeless Twelve months of struggle, love and heartbreak Quiet I became, filled with heart ache Devastated and lonely, my fragile heart ached I wondered why life wasn’t long, shortcake Life has taught me lessons Given me curse and blessings It’s full of darkness and lightning It’s full of activities but the time is too short and too tight, leggings Good night love, my half-heart for twelve months. WE REGRET A lot of stories a lot of lies fingers pointing no results We remember those times when they stood with hungry faces clearly stricken by poverty so we pitied them They came to us with sweet words saying they know our plight and will fight for us Lies!!! All lies! With ink stains on our thumbs and joy in our hearts smiles on our faces we put them in office Crocodile tears of gratitude hungry eyes of theirs they looked at us and praised us for "doing the right thing" Days, weeks and years gone by no sign of them close by I hear they live in mansions while we live in mud huts They only come when they need us they never feed us nothing to show for our stains stains on the thumbs put on paper We regret the times we wasted standing under the hot sun shouting their praises, we regret. We regret the ink we allowed to touch us the papers we put in boxes yes we regret we shall always regret Hope you see what I'm driving at? |

A Tangle In Time by Tex A vine appeared from under my bed. From whence it came I do not know. I sprung from under my cover, As it began to grow. Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? It burst through the door, Its leaves outstretched. Down the stairs it crept, Growing and growing No end, across the floor. Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? Out across the yard, without ordeal, As it wound around, and bound, Or it seemed to me, As it continued to reach and stretch. On and on, the vine, no secrets to reveal. Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? It led everywhere and nowhere, it seemed. I trailed along its path, Not knowing what to expect, As the web grew and grew. When low and behold, it stopped The scent of innocence Wafting, A feel of happiness Interweaving, Off again, the vine went creeping. Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? Across oceans of time I sailed, Belief and befuddle, Betrayal and buttress, Much-to my senses revealed. It’s serpentine course winding on. Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? Tears to cry at length, Smiles and laughter, My heart to render. Tangled, Weaving an Eternal Labyrinth Intertwining as it went, From where was it sent? |

What Do Shadows Do When We're Not Looking? by Tex Where do shadows go? Do they slumber? Do they snore? They lengthen and stretch as the sun starts to sink. When lights have faded and all the world is sleeping, do they dream? Do shadows talk to one another? Is there a secret code? Are they chatting away when we're not listening, or making faces when we're not watching? If we could peek, would we find them snacking, or blowing rings while smoking cigars? Maybe they're slipping and sliding across waxed floors. Yeah yeah, I know I know. When the light is gone there is no shadow cast. Once darkness spreads its cloak, those shifty companions are no more. Of course they disappear, but are you sure? 1 Like |

texanomaly:If this is not a prose and you are using shadow figuratively then I have no problem with that because it could mean a lot of things to different folks. But, if you are questioning what shadow is literally then you need to read up on opaque and if that is not sufficient for your understanding of how shadow is cast you can use common sense to decipher that it is due to thick layer of wall the light cannot penetrate and it disperses through the sides taking the shape of the image to form the shadow. 'Darkness spreads its cloak, those shifty companion are no more ' part reveals the shadow is dark therefore cannot be seen in darkness. This is merely playing on words or creative use of words to express a common phenomenon and how it relates to real-life idea is something I can not wrap my head over in this post though. This is much ado about nothing in a nutshell. Thank you. 1 Like |
