Musiwa Was Right About Kano Lol by Ikengawo: 1:40am On Nov 05, 2013 |
https://maps.google.com/maps?ie=UTF-8&gl=us&daddr=Owerri,+Nigeria&saddr=Port+Harcourt,+Nigeria&panel=1&f=d&fb=1&dirflg=d&geocode=KeNILJ-jzmkQMdsyiH3dK1ZT%3BKaGkAgKYWUIQMbEOZiSJ_Zcr&ei=_i54Us_bL7TTsATA0oHoBQ&ved=0CCkQ-A8wAA I decided to pull a Musiwa and look at nigeria through google maps. What I learned was laughably astonishing. Not only is Kano the size of many second tier cities in Southern Nigeria, it's alleged 'sparse' population (spread out) is a myth as well. the satellites are sharp enough to pick up most signs of human sedentary human presence and the verdict is in. Kano is slightly smaller than Akure. It is laughable that one can even consider it the size of Ibadan or Port Harcourt let alone LARGE than Lagos, which has more human presence than the combined total of most northern cities. I'm not at Musiwa's level of NSA intelligence spying but he's telling the truth lol. Kano is a joke. 3 Likes |

lol its almost funny that they think they can continue to pull this off. Honestly looking at Northern nigeria's cities...Abuja is the only thing in the region! It's so sad! |

So this is "the north" that APC and these governors are acting like a difference will come from! LOL there's two regions in Nigeria east and west. |

Usbeel:If this was the actual result, then anyone should have the maximum temerity to say that 2006 census was a FRAUD! I, for example, was in Elekahia as at 2006, but was never counted. How could Benue which is just almost like a farm settlement, sparse in population, be more populated than Anambra with serious commercial activities going on in its three cities. 2016 census will tell us the truth. |

I did •̸Ϟ•̸y lagos residents registration yesterday and I learnt even babies would be registered. I think the exercise would give verifiable near accurate population of the state's resident. I think other states should follow suit to know the true population figures of its resident to effectively plan for them. That way the population of the south can't be slashed although that doesn't mean cows may not be counted in north to inflate figures. |

Maybe you couldn't see the old Kano city because in some satelite maps it looks like sand. |

The fourth largest city in Nigeria by landmass is Kaduna. I wonder where you got your map from. The 5th is Benin and the 6th is Port-Harcourt. However in population I believe Port Harcourt is 4th while Abuja is 5th. |

He conveniently forgot that Musiwa is not Igbo. Anyway u just have to feel pity for these Nairaland tribalists who hide behind monikers to perpetuate buffoonery. It is just sad that we can no longer have intelligent discussion on nairaland again without pea-brained psychos chanting ethnic solidarities. 1 Like |

Lol. That satellite is a FRAUD. Am an anambrarian based formerly in Kano but now in Lagos and I can Authoritatively say KANO is Larger than LAGOS. The old kano city which comprises of the present day Kaduna, Katsina and Jigawa state. But I can also authoritatively say that KANO being more populated than LAGOS is the greatest fraud of all times. I was counted at Jigawa in 2006 sha. |

Re: Musiwa Was Right About Kano Lol by auwal87(m): 1:24pm On Nov 05, 2013 |
There are 44 local government areas in Kano, travelling between this local government areas will give you a clear and comprehensive information about the population of Kano 'state'. There are agitations for creating 2 more states out of Kano at present. Each of these 2 agitations is genuinely made due to population and increasing concentration of infrastructural development in the center of the Kano city (Municipal area, Fagge, Nassarawa, Gwale, Kumbotso, Dala, and few others). So I can personally put Kano in the area of 8 million to 12 million. Even though recently the governor himself mentioned that Kano is populated by about 15 million people depending his argument with the information he received from the local Inland Revenue Board. Truthfully, Kano metropolis cannot be more populated than Lagos metropolis, but Kano 'state' can be more populated than Lagos 'state', hence making it the 2nd most populated 'state' in Africa, not city. |

auwal87: There are 44 local government areas in Kano, travelling between this local government areas will give you a clear and comprehensive information about the population of Kano 'state'. Having 44 Local Government Areas proves nothing about the population of Kano State. By my calculation based on Nigerian population fraud, Kano city should be between 3 to 4million people(Which is also the likely population of Ibadan) while Kano State should be around 7million. With that 7million, it is the 2nd most populous State in Nigeria after Lagos which should be around 9 to 10million. Why I challenged the poster is because I don't like false information and not because there was no fraud in the 2006 census. Nigeria's population is not up to 160million and everything was raised in order to achieve a pre-planned population. |
Re: Musiwa Was Right About Kano Lol by atlwireles: 2:27pm On Nov 05, 2013 |
Abagworo: Very correct, Nigeria's population is 100m-120M. That 160m-170m is simply a lie. |
