PROLOGUE

YEAR:2011
LOCATION:AKWANGA, NASARAWA
TIME:00:01

"Happy new year!!!"

Everyone screamed as the clock hit a minute pass twelve, it was a new year.

I was one of the participants, i light my own Knockout and threw it into a group of boys who were discussing, the sound made them scatter to all directions.

"Uduak you na bad boy" Collins my friend told me as he saw my hand work.

"Mehn Peter you no dey ever repent bah? This na new year and you don begin with trouble"

Sabo whom i invited to my church queried me.

"Yeah na true ooo, i don repent, no mind me oo, na the Codiene wey Chankyu give me come dey turn my head" i confessed.

Another friend of mine had given me or let me say he warned me before i insisted on taking it.

"Uduak this thing inside this La casera dey too strong for you.., i no want make you go slap your father" Chankyu warned but i was adamant and took a few sips, what do i care, i did not see any change in me, my sight was still normal.

Maybe my brain recieved it all.

Lots of Rockets Knockouts, lighters and can sprayers were used, it was a bourne fire/Tea and suya night so we were free to dance and jubilate if we wanted to.

It was a great sight, lots of families came to thank God for thanking them through the new year while i was already starting mine with trouble.

Anna was in the crowd dancing and jubilating but my only concern was the tea that was being mixed in the big pot, i had hustled along cup, cowbell and bread(who say i no be mai shayi)

I did not bother struggling for the meat cus i was forming big boy, i sent my friend to go fetch my tea but he refused, i sat queitly while wrapping the jacket tighter round my body, people were going near to the fire but i was forming big boy and stayed behind.

Someone gave me a cup of tea from behind i turned to see who only to see Anna smiling and offering the cup to me, i muttered a thank you and collected it, that gave her more boldness, she dragged a chair and sat down with me.

I turned from her direction and began talking with Sabo, suddenly he touched me.

"Bros see babe abeg" he wispered.

I turned codedly to see a beauty wrapped in a shorwel and tight leggins, i had not seen her before, so i fixed my gaze on her, she looked at me also and smiled.

I remebered that i was holding a cup of tea which i barely drank so i smiled at Sabo and got up not minding Anna.

"Ehm happy new year" i said nervously.

"Same to you" i sweet innoncent voice replied back.

"Ehm i brought a cup of tea for you" i replied. She collected it and thanked me, Anna was almost dead with anger/jealousy.

Suddenly i did not know what to say again, maybe the new year had tongue tied me, i slowly left her and went to my seat.

"Bros howfar, you don scope her just now" Sabo said excitedly.

"You dey mad abi? You no know say this na new year, abeg lock up jare, i even get plenty sef" i lied to cover up my Bleep up.

"Tohr make we watch see na, you don Bleep up abi, another person don dey help you"

I turned to see another guy gisting with the girl, a stupid jealousy took over me, i felt angry but quickly turned away.

"I want y'all to make your new year resolution and stand by them. The devil would want it to fail but if you hold God strong there is nothing impossible for him" My father was saying.

I promised never to Lie, Bleep any lady or look for girls again, i knew i was fooling myself but it was not too bad to try.

The service finally came to an end after i had burnt my tongue with more than five cups of tea, we kept on gisting and warming ourselves by the fire when i sighted the fair damsel who got me tongue tied.

I ran to her while forgetting that i just made a new year resolution never to toast a girl again.

"Sorry you did not tell me your name please"

"Ok am Monica" her pink lips said those words.

"Wow, money and car go dey be that" i joked as she laughed with a clean set of teeth, i covered my half ones make i no go spoil show.

"So where to now?" where before if no be house.

"Well am going for rag day, are you coming along?" she asked.

"Wetin come be rag day again,nawao, but how man go do, i hope no be rag abi Dust bin we dey enter ba?" i said in my mind.

"Ok lets go" i replied while giving a fake smile.

I told my sister that i wanted to escourt a guest to the road, she told me to meet them at home before my parents come back.

I quickly followed Monica, Sabo gave me a high five, i had broken my two resolutions and if you ask me, didi break my third resolution.

Yes i did.
