Since the 80's when i was born,i was taught how to write and speak the Igbo language.i know through d years that dias nothing like "ibo" but nowadays,people refer to south easterners as "ibo people".

The correct thing is Igbo.. Ibo is the western spelling of it. This kind of thing appears all the time. In igbo, and hausa especially.

If you interacting with the westerners, better say yiibo, if you say igbo they might mistook it for indian hemp.
