Nelson Mandela insisted on living with dignity, and dying in like manner. With his death today, the world, not just South Africa or Africa, has become a slightly dimmer place. His legacy of principled struggle, intellectual rigor and moral dignity will stand as a rebuke to many African "leaders," especially the contemptible lot in Nigeria, who make the ruination of their people their primary business. May this towering giant of a man inspire youngsters in Africa and elsewhere to pursue dreams that are larger than their mere pockets. I will observe a moment of silence, in admiration, reverence and awe.
