U.S. President Obama has admitted he is not
permitted to use an iPhone, as officials remain
concerned over the device's security.
Speaking to attendees at the White House for an
event promoting health care laws and legislation,
Obama explained why he relies on his BlackBerry,
saying:
"I'm not allowed for security reasons to have an
iPhone."
BlackBerry is well-known for its security credentials,
due to additional levels of encryption not usually
provided over secure Internet connections. Research
in Motion ensures that messages from a BlackBerry
are already scrambled before reaching secure
connections, where they are then unscrambled once
they reach their overall destination. The keys used
to scramble and unscramble data are held by the
company or group that subscribes to enterprise
systems.
Due to these high levels of security, BlackBerry
mobile devices -- despite bombing marketshare in
the consumer realm -- are popular within the
banking industry, politics and corporations.
Obama's phone is a modified version of the standard
BlackBerry device, but he struggled to hang on to
his mobile after claims surfaced that German
Chancellor Angela Merkel was being monitored
unlawfully by U.S. spies.

Why would you imagine that the PRESIDENT of THE UNITED STATES phone will have such issues? If you read the post carefully, you'll notice that he uses a slightly modified blackberry phone.
However, probably the most important reason why he chose a BB is because of the enhanced security features. Your communications( text, sms, chat , etc) are already scrambled before they reach the secure connection.
That means BB also has an edge over other smart phones. As the President has confirmed.
