Gov. Obi Flags-off 1.2 Billion Naira Credit Facilities to Anambra Farmers
Gov. Peter Obi yesterday at the International Women Development Centre, Awka flagged off the distribution of 1.2 Billion Naira credit facilities to farmers in the State, a collaborative project between the Bank of Agriculture and Anambra State Government.
During the flag-off of the project, Gov. Peter Obi, who recalled his visit to farmers in the State as soon as he became the Governor in 2006, said that since then, he had taken farmers as a critical group that needed the support of the Government for their role in guaranteeing food security in the State. He called on the beneficiaries of the loan to use it for the purpose it was meant for as to repay promptly for the loan to continue to revolve among them for the greater benefit of famers and the State ultimately.
Obi who said he would not relent in his work as a Governor till his last day in office, revealed that the Federal Government has generously granted the State the permission to do the Amansea to Amawbia dual carriage road, and assured that the reconstruction would commence very soon and that his Govt had set enough money aside for the project.

In his own remarks, the Managing Director of Bank of Agriculture, Mr. Mohammed Santuraki, represented by the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs of the Bank, Mr. Samuel Okechukwu said it was a sign of Gov. Obi's commitment to agriculture that Anambra was the first State in which the project was flagged off. "Even at a time the State was engaged in electioneering, Gov. Obi still paid Anambra State counterpart promptly and followed with commitment, every step towards actualizing the project, thus confirming his exceptional love for his people”, the MD said.
Speaking further, he said the loan was for support to farmers, SMEs and agro businesses and called on the beneficiaries utilize the it productively, repay back for more to be made available to farmers in the State.
Earlier in his speech, the State Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Ndubisi Menakaya, assured farmers of the State Government commitment to agriculture. Recalling the giant strides of Gov. Obi in agriculture, which includes being the first State to pay counterpart funding for FADAMA, NPFS, RUFIN, securing 150 million Naira and 1 Billion Naira loans for farmers in the State in 2006 and 2011 respectively, assisting the MASDEVAN farm to set up the first Songhai modelled farm in Urum, buying of tractors, collaboration with Rainbow Chicken of South Africa for the rehabilitation of Nkwelle Ezunaka farm, rehabilitation of irrigation facilities at Ogboji Rice farm, among others, he described the 1.2 billion Naira loan being flagged of as another giant step taken by the governor who had the advancement of agriculture in the State at heart.

Must he always wear the APGA uniform? I thought the election is over? All these late hour gestures will not change the fact that he rigged the election and 3/4 of my people didn't vote.
