GEJ's reply to OBJ's letter makes OBJ's letter more believable.
The president asked for evidences, here are some that just comes to mind.
1. Oduahgate ( what more evidence do one needs)
2. Faroq Lawan and Otedola. ( It is illegal to give or receive bribe)
3. $12 Billion not remitted. (Whithout Sanusi's letter, who knows).

thanks.....when I said GEJ response was lame, now u see.Obj hit the nail on the head......all I can see GEJ saying in his in this letter by is that all these things have been happening before he became president. So he should not be blamed because it has been happening for years.

again GEJ,if u want to shoot,shoot.........DONT TALK

..am sure by lame, you mean not resorting to personal insults and name-calling...well you'll keep being disappointed cos abuses, insults and outright hooliganism are the trade-mark of APC members and supporters,so perhaps he can learn the ropes when he 'defects' to APC..

For the benefit of YIBOMUSTGO and toher grossly misinformed people here, who blatantly display their ignorance:

1) Al-Mustapha was prosecuted by LAGOS STATE. The case is cited as People of Lagos State vs Al-Mustapha. So, the Presidency would have had nothing at all to do with his matter
2) Officials of the Lagos State Ministry of Justice decided against APpealing his acquittal at the Supreme Court.

For anyone one is drag GEJ into this is just pure, unbridled mischief

Who ferries Al-Mustapha around in presidential jet?

You have to be f00lish to think presidency didn't have hands in the release of Al-Mustapha. Did you see where PDP Chairman, Bamnga Tukur was welcoming Al-Mustapha with the statement that he had been talking about his release with the president since he became PDP Chairman? It was Tukur who let the mouse out of the bag when he went to welcome Al-Mustapha in Yobe State.

You will recall that all the letters were brought to me by hand. Although both of us discussed some of the issues in those letters, I had not, before now, seen the need for any formal reply since, to me, they contained advice from a former President to a serving President. Obviously, you felt differently because in your last letter, you complained about my not acknowledging or replying your previous letters.

It is with the greatest possible reluctance that I now write this reply. I am most uneasy about embarking on this unprecedented and unconventional form of open communication between me and a former leader of our country because I know that there are more acceptable and dignified means of doing so.

Sounds like the type of excuse you get from a lazy, incompetent employee or a person who knows he did not do what he should have done. If he had replied to/acknowledged earlier missives there may not have been any need to write an open letter to him; thereby avoiding "this unprecedented and unconventional form of open communication" and less acceptable as well as less dignified means. The two paragraphs above should actually be replaced with one honest sentence:

"My hands have now been forced to respond......."

GEJ should pls declare his assets publicly and order his cabinet members to do likewise. His reply to OBJ's letter is weak, no substance.

PDP Chairman, Banga Tukur. Tukur said at the airport where he welcomed Al-Mustapha that he had been talking about his release with the president since became PDP Chairman. Tukur let the mouse of the bag.

Red Eboe: GEJ may end up being one of Nigeria's greatest politician/president ever. Unlike Obasanjo, who as President insulted a small boy musician on national TV for singing 'Nigeria jaga jaga'.

GEJ did not have to insult or character assassinate Obasanjo directly,he allowed a more potent and painful source to do the insulting,Obasanjo's own daughter. grin

And now GEJ comes up with a very articulate and matured response, which may seem ordinary to the normal eye but coded with very strong messages. E.g, GEJ has just indirectly told the world that Obj may have had a hand in Murtala Mohammed's Assassination
lipsrsealed

Right on the money. OBJ will spend the rest of his life explaining this letter.

You kill murtala because he wanted to retire you for corruption

You denied Awo his Victory in 1979

You stole us blind between 2000-2007

But above all, I am not you. This letter will be discussed for years to come.

yibomustgo: Jonathan did not address Obsanjo's allegations. What he has done is to just repeat the allegations and denied doing them. He tried to give Obsanjo some body shots while doing it. I don't see this a good response to what Obasanjo asked in his letter.

Jonathan failed to address the corruption allegations i.e Stellah Oduah and co....

Jonathan failed to address his talk about only Ibos voted for him and Ibos being his backbone....

Jonathan failed to address the allegation of Al-Mustapha release....

Jonathan failed to address the insecurity questions in the country....

Jonathan failed to answer the question of supporting opposition parties with the promise that they support him for re-election...

Jonathan failed to address the problem he caused in Rivers State as sitting Governor, Amaechi is being humiliated by police and GEJ loyalists...

Jonathan has failed to address the allegation of weapons being shipped to Enugu and not the rest of the country.......

There are more questions to be answered.

yibomustgo:

Who was OBJ talking about in the quote below? Was he talking about Al-Mustapha or not?

"Presidential assistance for a murderer to evade justice and presidential delegation to welcome him home can only be in bad taste generally but particularly to the family of this victim. Assisting criminals to evade justice cannot be part of the job of the presidency. Or, as it is viewed in some quarters, is he being recruited to do for you what he had done for Abacha in the past? Hopefully, he should have learned his lesson. Let us continue to watch".
...and here was GEJ's response
I also find it difficult to believe that you will accuse me of assisting murderers, or assigning a presidential delegation to welcome a murderer.
This is a most unconscionable and untrue
allegation. It is incumbent on me to remind you that I am fully conscious of the dictates of my responsibilities to God and our dear nation. It is my hope that devious elements will not take advantage of your baseless allegation to engage in brazen and wanton assassination of high profile politicians as before, hiding under the alibi your “open letter” has provided for them.

All he said is that; he shouldn't be blamed for not being able to fix the problems because the problems were there before he came in as president. GEJ doesn't know he was voted to fix problems that have been there for 30-40 years.
