I think we should give Ben Haim the right back position and forget Alves. Haim is decent enough from what I've seen and might do well in that position.

Instead of spending that outrageous figure on Alves, don't you think it would be better to get Quaresma instead?

Just my thought. cool

Hey guys, I've got some great news. cool

Alves is not in Sevilla's line up for this week's Champions League match.

We had concerns that if he plays for Sevilla in the C/L, he won't be able to play for Chelsea in the Champions League, but this development means he's likely to come to chelsea. wink

yes sure you are right Ben Haim in doing a great job
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by toba1909(m): 2:39pm On Aug 13, 2007
Not really a good start for Chelsea, are your defenders and attackers not as strong as you proclaim? You go see hell against Liverpool.

Alves is a good buy, i just think 20 million and above is too much. But for the mean time Ben Haim will be good at RB till Alves arrives.

I'd LOVE Quaresma to come to Stanford Bridge, The guy is just good!!

Lastly, what do u guys think of Johnson? I think he should just be sold out!! even if it is for 10,000

i think Alves is a better buy than quaresma because he is adaptable in quite a no of positions either in offense or as a wing back where-as quaresma is only an option goin 4ward.d money is too much sha.i am tired of these crazy clubs jacking up their demands once they know say na chelski de interested. dont be surprised if porto asks for 25 million pounds for quaresma as well.

Wtf! Abeg make the Q guy sit down where he dey. Yeah he's a good player but I don't see him fitting well into that team. even if JM starts singing his anthem of untouchable, Q 'll just bring in more confusion. Blue rules
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by FBS: 6:42am On Aug 14, 2007
Blue is the color and I think Chelsea played some amazing attacking football on sunday. Pizarro and man of the match SWP were simply fantastic. As for alves i think the money is too much but we need a solution at the right back. Johnson looses concentration atimes, maybe Diarra can fit in.

All the same, Chelsea FC Rules!!! we are record breakers!
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by amodu(m): 9:52am On Aug 14, 2007
The money placed n Alves is too much, if we can't get him for anything less than 20M, i think we should hands-off.

We can get a very good RB in the french league, look at Sagna for instance and host of others or what do you guys think.
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by wormedup(m): 10:45am On Aug 14, 2007
did sevilla say they rejected a 20m bid from chelsea
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by tng(f): 10:51am On Aug 14, 2007
You did not watch the preseason did you? The match with rangers.

No i didnt. he played badly heh? Anyway, i think we have to get someone with a lower price tag. i watched the UEFA cup finals and i think alves is more offensive than defensive. He would be a taiye taiwo-overlapping and not dropping back therefore leaving too much space behind. Most def. he is good but the price is too much nd with the above minus doesnt solve our problems.
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by topeorekoy(m): 1:21pm On Aug 14, 2007
ALVES for 20m pounds? teams just want to benefit from ROMAN'S money. a player thats not worth 10m pounds. but why does chelsea buy, buy, buy all the time. they should try not to buy stars all the time. the stars might not justify the cash spent on them
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by somze(f): 2:52pm On Aug 14, 2007
I think our buys have been terrific this season, they show a lot of potential.

Most of them were free and yet we see their contributions.

Alves is a bit expensive and more or a forward thinking player but we may not mind that. He also good with crosses and free kicks.

I've heard rumours about Quaresma but i'd prefer Robben stays, If howeva Quaresma comes in then it certain that Robben would leave.
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by A40(m): 3:02pm On Aug 14, 2007
Alves 20m? you guys would never learn would ya? but for real Pizarro and Malouda where good buys i wont front those guys go try
Re: Chelsea Fans: Identify Yourselves Here (Old) by kitaun(m): 7:07pm On Aug 14, 2007
Pizarro and Malouda? undecided

I doubt Malouda will come that good anyway . . . tongue

as for Pizarro, the battle for a place might make assessing him quite difficult, same with Sidwell, save for when the team looks or is actually depleted cool

Here is the latest news about Alves and Robben:

Robben Will Go If Alves' Bid Is Accepted

Arjen Robben's move to Real Madrid will finally be pushed through if Chelsea's latest offer for Daniel Alves is accepted by Sevilla.

The long-running saga of both players could be concluded after Roman Abramovich put forward another bid close to the €40m being demanded for Alves.

While the Russian oligarch can afford the outlay for the Brazilian full-back, he is keen to recoup the majority of his outlay by selling Robben.

According to reports in Spain, everything is in place for the Dutchman to move to the Bernabéu and the only thing holding the deal up is the transfer fee.

Chelsea want €40m, while Madrid are not prepared to go above €30m and negotiations have focussed solely on that problem.

The Spanish giants have also expressed their interest in Alves in recent days, but understand that Bernd Schuster's first choice is Robben.

Sevilla were open to Madrid's approach for Alves as it was believed to have included Cicinho, who would have been a welcome addition to the UEFA Cup holders' squad.

If they finalise that move, then they would be hard-pushed to justify spending a similar amount on Alves as well.

Marca expects both deals to be signed if Sevilla finally bow to the pressure being applied form Stamford Bridge.

Let me post a quote I culled from a poster in another website: :-

He is 23 years old, his name is Daniel Alves da Silva and right now he's the best player in Spain.Nowadays, Alves is a hero at Sevilla - loved for his personality and his play.

Dani Alves is no ordinary right-back. He has played at right-back, right-midfield, left-back, left-midfield, central midfield and in St Petersburg last season even played up front - winning a penalty and providing an assist. He plays everywhere - and in the same game, too. He is, says this morning's AS: "Three players in one: a central midfield playmaker with a winger's soul who plays at full-back." He is a one-man band, a phenomenal athlete who screams and tears round the pitch like a hyperactive child, a Roberto Carlos for the right. Only Alves can defend. In fact, he can be a right horrible little bastard when he wants to, diving and kicking and tugging to his heart's content. It's no coincidence that as well as topping the assists charts, he leads the way in yellow cards and fouls. In short, Alves can do everything.

grin grin cheesy cool

he leads the way in yellow cards and fouls.
