I need to purchase an automotive diagnostic equipment for a friend in Nigeria that has an auto repair workshop. One that could work with various brands such as Mercedes, Toyota, Honda and Peugot. 

Could you recommend any good one readily available here in the UK. His budget is about 500 - 700 pounds. How good are the ones that installs on a PC compared to the standalone self integrated ones that do not run on a PC. Thanks for your time

Hi, sorry I'm late in replying, have just seen your thread.

I'd recomment Carsoft - it's a PC-based diagnostic system, and works on different cars, you just add the manufacturers you want.

Then, there's the Sykes-Pickavant.
It's a stand alone system, and the MAP (Multi Application Pod) means you don't have to buy seperate pods for each manufacturer.
