What does IVF have to do with the child acting like a mumu ? His sperm will be used for his wife's egg, the only difference here is that only "heathy" embryos will be implanted. There is no problem with his sperm so he doesn't need a donor.

I'm kinda in the same boat with the Op, just that i just recently met the lady and it seems the love flush/rush is making us overlook the worst case scenerio. We've done a lot of readings on PGD( checking the babies genotype while in the womb) tho.Seems like the best option though Its quite costly, (abt 250k) in Nigeria.

I empathize with the op but will rather urge him to reconsider his decision. Unless you don't plan to have children. My sister suffered similar loss of a worthy partner due to this but now she has overcome the heart wrenching experience. In fact, after an honest advice she decided to quit even when the guy involved wanted them to go on(made contacts in Canada to fix things where they said my sister can take a certain injection prior to taking in and during pregnancy), yet she called it quit after sincere advice from another foreign doctor.

Sir, it could be your blood group that was checked and you saw A+ in your result and mistake it for AA. For exams and admission related cases like yours, it's blood groups that are usually tested for not genotype.
That was exactly what deceived my sister, plu virtually all of us in the family were AA at the time.

@op, it's great you guys are so in love, BUT, you both also owe at least the same amount of love to your unborn children if you marry. To deliberately bring SS children into the world in 2014 or beyond, with all the knowledge and information available not only will be callous, I think its outrightly cruel. Cruel to you and your partner too. If you do go ahead, then prepare to employ any of the methods of ante/prenatal diagnosis available. Please do not discard the voice of wisdom. I've seen too many who did to their utmost peril and regret. I've see them when they were in love, and 12 years later after 2 or 3 kids with SS. This is a candid advice from a senior doctor who has worked in 3 continents of the world and who has sicklers in his family. PM me if you wish to.

Our Lab scientists sometimes make costly mistakes in that stuff.
Even when my sister finally find out she's AS, some Lab scientists still goofed by declaring her AA by mistake.
