When will u realize onazi's case is a normal thing that happens in every football match. Both players went for the ball, onazi was faster and got the ball first, matuidi missed. That is clearly non international. We are only making a case out if it because it happened to one of ours. Even Mikel said it himself that yellow card was right. Its a 50/50. Some refs will give red while some won't. If FIFA are to investigate all such challenge then they will be too busy with silly investigations than concentrate on the game. Why is FIFA not investigating song's silly challenge on the Croatian player?
An ankle break is not a normal thing in everyday football. Remember Matuidi injured Onazi and Nazi left the field. Onazi came back and Matuidi broke his leg. That does not happen in every days football.

Laughable especially the premise. I hate sore losers!

Most African teams don't get past the first round, anyway.

And the best of the lot, never goes past 2nd round or Quarters - so you won't be missed.

At the end of the day, there are tons of black players and Africans playing for other countries...evidently without African teams, the world cup will still be multicultural.

Please, shut the door on your way out. grin undecided

You guys are quick to blame FIFA for Africa's failure, but fail to tackle the main reason Africa can't win the world cup. The number one reason why we can't win the world cup yet is INDISCIPLINE.

Of the five African teams which qualified to play in the World Cup, three were involved in pay scandals. Players from Cameroon got their protest in before the tournament had even started. They refused to board a plane to Brazil following an argument over money, delaying their arrival by almost a day. Next, Ghana made a laughing stock of itself when it flew $3m in cash to Brazil to avert a match boycott by players demanding their appearance fees. Finally, Nigeria’s Super Eagles cancelled a training session ahead of the crucial knockout round in protest over bonus payments. Presidential intervention was required to settle that argument.

It got worse from there. Ghana’s team fell apart only hours after its cash arrived. Two of its players were sent home, one for an alleged “unprovoked physical attack” on a Football Association (FA) official, and one for reportedly swearing at his coach. Then there were the match-fixing allegations. Cameroon’s football federation says it is investigating claims that seven “bad apples” on its team were involved in fixing the results of games.

Just take a look at this.

Now u talk about FIFA favoring other countries?

A lot of decisions went Africa's way but I will only list a few.

1. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santos scored 2 legitimate goals that were wrongly ruled out for offside. If that was against an African country it would have been a case study by now. But Mexico moved on, while Africans are still complaining.

2. Mexico vs Cameroun: Giovani Dos Santo's stone wall penalty that wasn't given. Again if that was against an African country we all would be crying by now and blaming FIFA.

3. Mexico vs Cameroun: Alex Song's 2 footed tackle on Dos Santos. Definite red card offence, he didn't even go for the ball. But guess what, he didn't get red. In the match report it stated that Song was lucky not to see red, but if that happened to an African player we all will be saying racism, fifa hates us, bla bla bla just like the case of Matuidi who was lucky not to see red just like Song, but Nigerians always look for someone to blame, so we blame FIFA.

4. Nigeria vs Bosnia: Edin Dzeko's legitimate goal that was ruled out for offside. Now nobody talks about this anymore, but u guys forgot if this goal had stood, we probably wouldn't have made it into the second round. If that was a Nigerian goal, I'm sure hundreds of threads would have been opened describing how FIFA didn't want us to get into the second round.

You talk about Matuidi's tackle on Onazi?
Yes its a bad tackle, but this thing happens in football. Onazi is not the first player to suffer a bad tackle in the world cup, so why the whinning? Again simple tactic by the French coach. Take out Onazi and Matuidi did this

Now ask an African player to take out a player and he did this

The difference between the 2? One went for the ball and missed, 50/50 situation depending on how the ref sees it. The other took out the player blatantly without the ball which leaves the ref with no option than give a red card.

Until we sort out our discipline problems and improve our academies, stop age cheating.. we will never win the world cup. Africa lack real talents when it comes to the big stage. We thrive in youth tournaments because we use over aged players. When it is time for these players to get into the national team, they would be too old and past their best and that is why we Bleep up at the highest level.

THANK YOU SIR, you totally analysed the situation with clear examples.

Back to topic: The sooner African countries start to improve our games the more chances we have to win the world cup. There was nothing like racism we just ain't a match for the stronger teams. If Nigeria plays Holland, i don't need a soothsayer to know that we cannot match their team and that isn't racism.

Don't believe in everything u read. Moreover, there is really nothing to investigate about Onazi's tackle, it happens everyday in football. Also Neymar's tackle happens everyday in football, if referee didn't give the card when the incident occurred, then its over. But then there was news that Neymar felt like he was paralysed when the incident occurred which made FIFA feel like they should investigate. I know they are just speculations, nothing will be done to Juan Zuniga. Also let's face the fact, Neymar is a player we dream to have in our team.. add all our players together them still no match his talents.. he's the golden boy of Brazil and they are just getting the edge as the host. Nothing more.
this is one of the reason i dont like comming to the sport section because you see stupid and useless low self esteem comment how can you say neymar is better than all our players. if not that am just coming from a ban i would 've use this word ''''fool''' on you but i 'll still ignore you to aviod ban

Meaning basically we should walk around with an inferiority complex, and accept we don't deserve fair treatment. I mean, some of you are so dumb and stup.id and really deserve to be shot. Like i said, if the slave trade was still on today, wastrels like you will promote its continuation pending when we ''solve all our problems''. BRAINLESS GOAT. Haba Ni!!!!! Which one is too abnormal. It is not normal. That was a crazy challenge.

Emmysteve: I never believed the saying that an African country can never win the world cup until i witnessed the recent showing of Fifa double standard policies. Even the appointment of match officials are done in such a way that it would favor a particular country. All what is done in the field of play has already been arranged before the kickoff.

To drive in my point is the case of Super eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi who was intentionally kicked in the angle by french player Matuidi which automatically send him out of play from 6 to 7 months, a replay showed Matuidi going after Onazi's leg instead of the ball.
Despites calls by many football legends including Maradona that Matuidi should be sanctioned, instead FIFA claimed that nothing is wrong with the tackle.

The following week, player Neymar jr, sustained injury from zuniga knee tackle that send him out for 6 to 8 weeks... Fifa to investigate Zuniga kneel tackle.

Isn't these two actions of racism too glaring? in other words, an African leg is breakable but white man's leg is untouchable. Kai Fifa please Fear God!!!

The hand writing is clearly written on the wall by Fifa that Africa can only try but can't never win the world cup. It's time Africa unite and protest against Fifa's injustice. AFRICA MUST BOYCOTT THE NEXT FIFA WORLD CUP TO REGISTER OUR DISPLEASURE. enough is Enough

Since when has Neymar became a white boy?

Don't mind them. Let them keep crying everywhere about an unintentional tackle, when Nigeria shouldn't even have made the 2nd round, if the Dzeko goal hadn't been disallowed.

This is the reason why I can't stand the mentality of certain black folks. Rather than worry about the lack of structure on the continent, and why African football hasn't improved since the 1990 world cup - we keep chasing shadow everywhere. 24 years and still no improvement. And that Cameroonian team still remains the greatest football team out of the continent.

Most African players are technically inept...and that's what we should be worried about. Also, how to develop football on the continent.

To start with, Beautiful Nubia Said in one of his songs that "darkness will give way to light" why should we act inferior to the other continents?

Game of soccer is not always fair, what will you say about Dzeko's goal against Nigeria? Should Bosnia as a country decide not to come to world cup again.

With persistence and more effort, it will be our turn one day.

@Op I think you just won the award for the most idiotic thread on nairaland. Why didn't you guys complain when the referee gifted nigeria the bosnia match. Or why didn't you cry foul play when two legit goals were ruled out for mexico when they played cameroun. You are here citing the opinion of a drug addict and former cheat.
African teams are not yet evolved enough to win the world cup. They are not only technically and tactically deficent, but also have poor mentality. How many countries other than African countries did you hear of fighting over allowances? You mentioned the Matuidi tackle, tell me what the reaction of our players towards the french players was after the tackle on onazi? Did they show outrage of any sort? Did they express their anger towards the referee and the french players? What did our coach do? Nothing! Instead they were strolling around meekly and drinking water. What stopped the NFF from pressuring FIFA to investigate the tackle? Algeria not only through their performance but also attitude is the only country that repped Africa well.
Learn to take responsibilty and fight your fight, nobody will fight it for you. *rant over*

In Nigeria, rumour is taken a s news.

Go and check - FIFA is not investigaing the tackle against Neymar. it is all rumour.

Go and check - Onazi did not suffer a fracture. Onazi spoke about it and has no blame for Matuidi. In his very profesional manner, Onazi said it could just be anyone and Mauidi could also have been a victim.

Go and check - Maradona was wrong about the tackle. Onazi had an injury but nothing close to a career threatening injury.

Africa and Asia are alike in their performance. Until you develop a strong local league with strong local participation, you may not win the WC. In addition, your players need to rank high in their clubs.

You cannot go tto the World Cup with players who have not been in competitive sports for months and expect to win.

Nigeria needs to focus on the younger teams and find how to get them the best opportunities.

Our time will come.

Please, I do not agree with Africans keeping quiet in the face of injustice.
