what is the cost of installation of that stronger dish for 1.8 motorized?

toxnaija and i are still waiting on your account info and a date for your coming, please send the info to olofofo@gmail.com

are all those lnb KU? i noticed the digisat in the Middle,

@all

i just realised tonite that the actual channel for sport on that package is showtime maghreb (ART). they show about 3 premiership matches per day, even more than showtime sport 1 and 2 which show the same matches together most times, tox, if you are looking to enjoy the echolink, show Maghreb is the channel to have. the down side to this is that i heard they might be leaving the package next year and also all their commentaries are in French.

liveonsat now provides a 2 weeks schedule of matches and i checked and found out that MAGHRED will be showing like 70% of the matches over the xmas break.

It is much cheaper to buy a fairly used dish. You can get a 3.5m fibre dish for about twenty five to thirty thou. To make one will cost you nothing less than fifty thou. However, the biggest mould in Delta is currently 3.0m. A new 3.0m fibre dish is sold for about #45,000 here in Warri.

@sathob,
Thanks for your suggestions on the pictures. I quite appreciate them. You know, it's funny how we get carried away with advances in innovations that we quickly forget the simple tools that can get our jobs done faster. In my quest for a photo editing tool, I didn't even remember photo paint anymore. I've been so hot on adobe photoshop, corel draw, U-lead and all the heavier packages that I forgot about the usefulness of the very program installed on my desktop! Ha, na so life be o!

It is comfirmed that 2.4m eurostar pan can be bought in lagos even though it is presently out of stock, but we don't know yet about 3.0m-i.e, if they even make them at all?

if you are using it for nilesat, then you will have to cut it like that, it improves the signal tremendously. no it will not be damaged from weather but you might have to remove cobwebs from inside once in a while
@olofofo,
Ok, don't bother. I will keep it because I need it for Nilesat too ; grin  Abeg, cut another one for yourself jooo! cheesy

You are surely a great addition to the fta family here.
What are my chances of catching the Nilesat bird with the following:

2.4m mesh dish
Fuji Lnb as i do not have digisat around here
Strong's srt 4653x/4663x

i also have a compass and i am in Ibadan.

I must say you're far behind the times. The trend here now is for bigger, better dishes. But, no problem-you can still use your 90cm dish (most of us still have ours and they are serving us). Just go back to the beginning of this thread and read all the postings. As a matter of fact, I answered a similar question from wrex001 a few days back. Go to page 42 and start from there. all,
if you are in the Starcomms coverage area,please rush the Starcomms promo offer of N11000 for your internet connection and software download for Echolink.It is out of stock in their offices at that price,you can get it at N15000 but you can contact this lady -Seun Olaku,Head Customer Service,Saneki Inc. 1st floor suite 9 LSDPC Office Plaza beside Lagos council for Arts and Culture,Radio bus stop,Ikeja.08056067097.The company is a Starcomms agency still selling at the promo price and tarriff for now.I got one I-Zap broadband there a few hours ago at 11k with 100 hours free 24/7 in 30 days.But they are going on break from tomorrow till Jan.17,2009.
Starcomms IZAP Broadband service is the fastest wide area wireless service commercially available today. It has typical download speeds of 300-600kbps, but is even capable of speeds of up to 2.4Mbps. Downloading complex, large files remotely is now a reality.That is not all, with its dual function; you can switch over to CDMA 1x data access, whenever you are out of the IZAP coverage area.
I got tired of waiting for free browsing and epileptic wireless in the office.I am really happy to be with you all 24/7 online now.

OHTV on Intelsat 10 KU band is showing live the RCCG Holy Ghost Convention.This will be broadcast LIVE on OH TV, SKY channel 199 from Monday December 15 through to Saturday December 20.
The broadcast will be LIVE to UK, Europe and South Africa with a High Bandwidth Webstream to USA and the rest of the world.
Watch live on www.ohtv.co.uk/congress

Adewest is ready for all interested and serious members.His return to Lagos depends on the number of people ready to pay now.Olofofo and I are sending our money to him tomorrow.He was in Kano yesterday and found out that Eurostar 2.4m pan dishes now come in 3 grades-19k,20k,24k but I am going for the highest grade.please call him to book for ur installation.

olofofo,
the showtime maghreb(french) has always been there but you can never compare it with Showsports which comes in English,arabic and stadium commentaries.Adewest has sent the list and account number.I will mail the number to you now.I don't think I am interested in the live demonstration again.We will report all findings to the house but all members can come on Adewest's invitation.I think we would end up spending the whole day on lectures.

George_D,
I am in the same boat with UI wish I could pick up a 3m pan but I was told they don't make them.The max is 2.4m for now.I think my 2.4m mesh dish was made by Comstar.I will confirm Saturday.

Okaakoko,
I like your username.I have pals from that town.Anyway,we are tired of talking about 60 and 90cm.we are talking 1.8,2.4,3,3.5,4,even 6m here.please try to upgrade for Nilesat and Hotbird.Adewest promised to try track all the European birds on 2.4m motorised pan when he comes to Lagos/Abeokuta in a few weeks.

@Toxnaija,

Thanks for this fantastic information.  I was actually considering the MTN F@stlink which I tested last week friday. It was quite fast. The USB device (similar to the IZAP device) is N25,000.   They have the option of daily browsing (N500/day) which is quite cheap compared to the Multilinks dial up (N520/day). I think the starcomms IZAP thing is quite cheap but can you please confirm their billing package. Do they have this browse-per-day option and what is the rate. I actually have access to broadband internet in the office and I can download anything "downloadable". I'll will only need it at home to replace my multilinks.

Cheers

@All,
There is nothing like Free - to - Air ooo.  With the coming of OHTV, I have been "attending" the Holy Ghost Congress in my room.  Isn't that nice.  In fact, my Landlady (Redeemed pastor) was overjoyed when i  scanned her MyTV setup  yesterday to reveal the channel.  Her shouts of "Jesus" startled me.  I told her i've been "attending" since monday. She planned to travel to the redemption camp  for the program but some things held her back.  I saw her this morning and she was still full of thanks. In fact, I believe that with what i have done, I might get a reduction in my house rent grin . At least, i saved her the money and stress now
Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by obnelly: 10:38am On Dec 18, 2008
All, getting hotbird signal is not the issue,although its individual differences,I for one i think with the Bouquet on Nilesat we are ok only if their is a way we can get showsport signal to come up on our 2.4m.

if the signal can come up on 2.4m pan dish with that new digisat lnb ,i dont think we need to stress ourselves anymore but for the fun derived from tracking different satellite we can keep on and on.
Adewest, what is the possibility of 2.4m getting showsport1-4,i believe if their is a way of increasing the signal strenght to 80% showsport will definately come up but the chance is 50-50.Has anybody try that Digisat lnb?

The problem of showsport i think is in the H polarisation,because all V polarisation signal are really working fine but with signal above 66% but all H less than 55%.if there is a way of boosting the signal on H polarisation showsport will definetly come up.Anybody with CNN on 2.4m lets us know your signal strenght pls.

Then ,hunting for premiership feed should be next.there are so may feeds in europe but the possiblity of getting it has to do with Adewest.and since we have most of the satellites in east than west ,then i think motorised will be our best bet.
But people with 2.4 we can construct head to that effect

I intend to install nilesat on 2.4M dish this weekend.  I need to know what and what we people in the north can catch on that bird with 2.4M dish.  I am not planning on motorised though, I will keep you posted about the experiment.

I still have the offer open for anyone interested in the abracadabra cards with the receivers.  The receiver is Starsat 7100CU a upgrade to the popular 6300cu, it is the same with echolink receivers, because they are both ali c receivers.

Strong technologies text a friend of mine yesterday that they had phased out the SRT 4651 and 4653X decoders and they are now replaced with SRT 4661 and 4663X decoders. They further warn members of the public to beware as the decoders had been phased out.  This goes on to show that, any member of the forum who need to purchase 4653X should now go for 4663x.

@toxnaija,
Yes, it's unfortunate they don't make 3m pan for eurostar. I'm not even sure all the 2.4m eurostar we are seeing here are original ones because in their website they only stop at 1.8m. So we all have to be very careful that we are not buying fakes in the name of eurostar. Afterall, anybody can make any pan dish and print eurostar on it.
I know STRONG makes 3.2m pan prime focus but they don't seem to be available anywhere in this country.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by jujukemist(m): 4:35pm On Dec 18, 2008
George_D, your lnb cutting is wrong-I had told alcovx where to do the cutting,at the end of the white covering. As it is now you are losing 10% of signal which can make or break your installation.
wish you success.
