@obnelly,
There are a couple of islamic channels on intelsat 7,10. There is NourSat on ku and Samaa TV on C, but I think they would most likely be on C-band where you have a lot of indian and chinese stuff. Don't forget that they have sabc too and aljazeera on that slot to boot, so don't be too sure that it's disused.
And as for pointing to nilesat, I think that is where the other dish in the distance is doing. In the distance, it appears smaller but I think it is just as big as the first one. It is the angle which the picture was taken that is making it look smaller.

Dear people,

I am new to the forum Had a look around at the posts i can see so many people trying to help each other and it feels great to be at right place for my questions. I am sure you guys will answer my question and help me out as well.
I am living in Lagos, Nigeria and would like to tune into 7.0W NILESAT 101.102, Can you please guide me what dish shall i use and what LNB , It would be great if you can recommend the LNB make to be purchased and decoder make as well. Also can you please let me know if its possible to have a C band LNB fitted on a 90 Cm dish to catch 68.5E INTELSAT 7.10 signals which is currently used to catch DSTV west using multichoice decoder. I plan to catch some Indian channels on Intelsat.

Thanks in advance for the help.

I believe the mosque in question is an Ahmadi mosque. And they have a channel called MTA and can be found on W3 @ 7 deg E.

@weierstras
The answer is no. Get MY TV card. It is cheap.

Re: Official Thread of Free To Air Satellite TV (Part 2) by Jesude: 6:18pm On Jan 19, 2009
Ecimadh,

you are welcome to the forum, the answer to your question is right there, if you can take time to read through all the pages discussed on this forum, you will not only learn about Nile bird but other bird,  or better still ,  look for (1.8m dish or 2.4m depending availability of space,  strong decoder can also serve you, C band LNB if you can provide all this ingredient will definitively give you nilesat in lagos.

secondly, 90cm dish can not use C band LNB to track intelsat 7,10k but  Ku-band LNB , if you wan to achieve any result,

Oga KIB,
It is possible to use the two Ku and C band together on 1.8m dish, You can use the C band for Nilesat and Ku band LNB for Nss 7 and it can also goes with  W3A depending on your place of abode, i mean your state in case if you are from nija.

fxproff:
all

Hello friends: OK, here we go.
Load BIN:
Download bin 189 (or most current version) from this site & load it on your receiver. Forget about the channel or keys part of it, just load the bin (firmware) using the STB Tool (Loader). Be sure to unzip / extract / open files after download both Loader & Bin. (right click on icon) If you don't do this, you won't find Bin in Loader.
Factory Reset:
Next go to Menu hit OK, go down to System Setting, go over & down to DataBase Reset, hit OK, enter PIN "0000", go down to Factory Set, hit OK, select YES, next select English. (now you have wiped unit clean to start over)
System Settings:
Next go to Menu on receiver, go down to System Setting, go over to Time Setting, hit OK, go down & turn ON Summer Time, Hit Exit 1 time & save it. This will allow the correct time to load for Channel Guide. (if where you live, you don't have daylight savings time, disregard this step).
Options:
Next go back up to Installation, hit right arrow, enter pin code "0000", go down to Options, hit OK, leave all settings as they are, go all the way down to last option, Renumbering local CH, select your City & State for your local channels, save changes & hit Exit 1 time.
LNBs:
Go back up to Dish Setting, set up LNBs to work correctly, depending which LNBs you are using. (I use 2 Legacy Twins w/ SW-21 Switch or I use 1 Legacy Quad w/no switch, it's built in)
Dish Settings 110:
Satellite, 110.0W Echostar 6, 8
LNB Power, ON
LNB Type, Legacy Twin LNB1
LNB Freq, 11.250
22KHz, OFF
DiSEqC Switch, 1.0
Committed, 1
Legacy SW, ON (OFF if you use 4X1 DiSEqC Switch for 2
Dishes / DN & BEV)
* After selecting these settings, you should see 2 full green bars & a window in upper right corner that should appear with (EchoStar 110 West).
Next go back up to Satellite & select 119.0 W Echostar 7.
Dish Settings 119:
Satellite, 119.0W Echostar 7
LNB Power, ON
LNB Type, Legacy Twin LNB2
LNB Freq, 11.250
22KHz, OFF
DiSEqC Switch, 1.0
Committed, 2
Legacy SW, ON (same applies as above)
Verify Shift:
* Again, same as above but this time you should see (EchoStar 119 West).
* If you do not get the corresponding Satellite to appear in upper right corner, it will not get both Sats, so try changing settings until this works.
Now go back & select 110w to check if it switches, then do the same again for 119w. If these Sats shift correctly, proceed to next step. Exit 1 time to leave Dish Setting page.
Autoroll:
Go down to Autoroll Options, hit OK, everything should be ON, (if not change it) save changes & exit.
Auto Scan 110:
Now you are ready to scan the satellites. Go up to Auto Scan, hit OK, select (110.0 W Echostar 6, , now hit OK 1 time to highlight Sat (be sure it is highlighted), go right arrow, then up to Network Search, turn this ON (you will get more channels), now go down to Scan & hit "Press OK" to start scan. (When scan is near complete note number of channels found.)
Auto Scan 119:
Next select 119.0 W Echostar 7, repeat last step above, Network Search should should still be ON, confirm this & begin scan.
* (Tip), to be sure you get both Sats, go back to Dish Setting page & select 119 & check for 119 to appear in upper right corner to verify, prior to beginning this scan. (see: Verify Shift)
Notes:
After last scan is complete, hit exit 3 times (punch out) to return to TV. Sometimes it helps to select a low number channel near 100 to start with, wait 2-3 minutes. Also try this: Open Key Edit page by selecting 8282 with remote, wait 2-3 minutes, it should roll in. If not, try a unit reboot (power OFF, wait 10 seconds, Power ON). Still no TV, the problem will be keys. For this, check for current keys & enter them manually if all else fails.
I have had problems in past because I didn't verify current keys prior to scans. So if it seems not right, just go back & do another Factory Reset & start over again, after your sure about the keys.
It's good practice to repeat this process, you will be able to remember it better if you do it a few times.
Tips:
All info above is assuming you have the correct dish / LNBs / and the dish pointed & locked in correct position / correct switch (if needed). A good signal from a Satellite Meter is recommended. To be able to get both Sats you must have dish skewed to correct angle for your area. We have links for good Satellite Calculators. (This is an exact science, guesswork is for the lottery).

Hope this will help a lot of folks. It might not agree with all, but it works,, not theory. Now get busy & watch free TV, SatelliteJunkie
I'm sorry I have to sound harsh!! How in the world do you post instructions on 119°W & 110°W which are all located in North America!!! embarassed shocked  Listen buddy, No be by force nah? I know these birds you are writing about here, and they have no bizwax being here. Come on, next time you want to give a tip on FTA keys, sat location etc, stick to what you know.  Why do people take pleasure in pointing people to wrong directions?? My advise to you, consult lyngsat, study your satellite locations and foot prints, then post on issues regarding Satellites around Nigeria and Africa in General!!!!

Edited: Took out the "F" bombs from my initial post.  Didn't mean to come off the way I did initially.  By the way, in the future check your info before posting. Sorry  for the out burst.

@ jesu de,
nilesat doesnt make use of a c-band lnb, all TPs on nile bird are ku.

@ george_D,
abeg, leave Marshal to spill out his venom here oooo, or do you want him ta take that out of his kids or his installation, am sure he'll be ok after writing that. Most times it feels good to spill out your anger instead of keeping it within, and taking it out on others who are very close to you.

@ salamander,
you got it right, the 2nd dish is tune to w3a cos it aint tilting to the westside, and perhaps to cut the long story short, from the distance i got the picture shot, the size i could imagine is 1.8m

Actually this jossybless is a rubbish kind of person. After posting my request about the Disney Channel, the man contacted me and we met on yahoo messenger. If you see the way he was drilling me about the Aljazeerah sports! I noticed his rubbish nature, but I ignored it. I e-mailed him the details of the aljazeera patch and even sent the patch as an attachment to him. In the process, he even threatened to report me to administrator to ban me, as if I owe him a thing.

When it was his turn about the Disney Channel, he told me that the thing stopped working immediately after it oppened, which I have confirmed is a lie.

Now, he comes here to announce his brain dead success in opening the Jazeerah sports without even acknowledging my help, what a total douch bag!

This is one reason people should be careful about places like this. You may meet excellent people with impeccable personalities, but somewhere around the corner are low lifes like jossybless.

Yes, today marks an historical world event as His Excellency, Sen. Barrack Obama, takes over the rulership of the White House as the 44th President of the United States of America. Amazing! The journey of a tyranical president came to an end today! GOD is so wonderful! All students of world history will bear witnesses to the leadership roles of President Gorge W. Bush's invasions in countries like Iraq, Afganistan and lately, his government's collaboration with Israel to invade the land of GAZA. Particularly, Bush ordered the invasion of Afghanistan in November, 2001and U.S. invasion was launched on Iraq in 2003.  So, whoever that reminds his day of exit in office or world should think well and act well. The unborn people of these invaded countries will leave to read and hear all what President Gorge W. Bush had done to the socio-economic and political strengths of their countries.

On the other hand, I think we have to send our FECILITATION LETTER to the President-Elect, Sen. Barrack Obama, courtesy of the nairalanders. I suggest it may be an open one which can be also released to the FACEBOOK. Secondly, we have to view his INAUGURATION CEREMONY live on FTA television channels. Please, let someone remind us of all FTA channels that will broadcast the event live. Yes,we have to watch him as he takes the oath and presents his inaugural address to the people of US.

Sir, You are welcome, THE MAN OF THE MOMENT, Sen. Barrack Obama.

In a forum like this you keep away with all dis kind of a talk ok we shoul dreally face what this forum is meant for. It is not a place we begin to fight each other over unnecessary things like what Adrusa is saying I thought members in this forum are respectable Nairalanders how i wish he behaves like one and stops all this acts of childish. In as much this is a new year let start on a clean note.

@jossybless & adrusa,
Please take it easy on yourselves, ok? Whatever differences you have, I'm sure you can settle it out of this forum. Let us try and be civil to one another. It's too early in the year to engage in this kind of brick-bat. And, I'm not a soot sayer but it is clear to see that this path you're both on will never advance the cause of FTA for any one of us on this thread.

I've just checked but I've not seen any mail. Maybe you sent it to the wrong person.

In any case, you can solve the audio problem by pressing the green (audio) button on your remote. Change the sound track to french and change the output from stereo to either left or right. Hope this helps.
