soulglo: wizzymate: soulglo: U guys are really trying, I can read what you typed but I have never written or read in etsako before now. U text etsako, that is something I would never accomplish. Was born in Lagos, so even my cousins laugh at the way we speak, talk more of write. My husband is worse, he lost his parents at a very young age, when he speaks, its like murdering the language. Agenebode is after fugar, the water side/ river niger people. 2 Likes |

egopersonified:Egopersonified naigbia. U na le ghue? We write better than we speak. It comes out all wrong whenever i try to speak. Your dialect is quite different from ours. I wasn't born close to home and my parents chose to use english language as their preferred means of communication. 1 Like |

Okijajuju1: No. especially not if the tribe is expanding slightly. and as long as you dont marry blood relatives which is the norm. It goes on a rotational basis. maybe genes even mutate by slight degrees after a while. we dont know. because that is probably how humans evolved from their ancestor species. We have been doing intra-tribal marriages for 1000s and 1000s of years, since the beginning of mankind. It is how it is. Again, maybe an occasional marriage from a related, close-affiliated ethnic group (e.g., south-east/South-west groups) is not a big problem, as long as the overall genopool is kept strong. This is different from say, a Nigerian marrying Somali. We humans know our limits. Its our 6th sense. 2 Likes |

Reading tru this thread, i discovered that a lot of contributors replaces their ethnicity with their states. states are mere administrative cleavages which is not to be confused with your ethnicity/heritage. Meanwhile, my father is of YORUBA Ethnic group/Ijesha Tribe while my mother is of the UROHBO Ethnic group/Uvwie Tribe. 2 Likes |

favouryemmy: Dad=Yoruba Not sure that combo works. I think its mostly yorubas who are comfortable with igbo/yoruba combos for marriage. At least to a somewhat greater extent than other tribes, not that some folks would still not kick against it, but such people would kick against everything regardless. Yorubas marry from anywhere anyway. 1 Like |
