Here's Another Reason Why Foreign Media Should Be Banned In Nigeria by iterator25: 1:31pm On Aug 16, 2014
Read this report by AFP:

While you read, Note this, Nigeria withdrew her athletes because of discrimination by the organisers of the Olympics in the Chinese city of Nanjing over ebola scares.

Here's how the media constructed it.

Beijing - Nigeria has withdrawn from the Youth
Olympics in the Chinese city of Nanjing, state media
reported Saturday, as four African nations battle the
worst outbreak of the Ebola virus in decades.
Nigeria's decision was confirmed by International
Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach in
Nanjing, China's official Xinhua news agency said.
"We feel sad for the athletes as it will be extremely
difficult for them," Bach said of the Nigerians, Xinhua
reported. "They already felt the excitement of living in
the Village and now they have to leave - that's a very
difficult task."
The IOC had said on Friday athletes from Ebola-hit
countries would be barred from competing in pool
events and combat sports.
The decision, which affects three athletes whose names
and nationalities were not identified, was made "to
ensure the safety of all those participating", the IOC
and Chinese organisers said.
According to the Youth Olympics' website, there were a
total of 25 people on the team lists of Sierra Leone,
Liberia, Guinea and Nigeria, the west African countries
affected by the outbreak.
The Youth Olympic Games begin Saturday in Nanjing,
China's former capital, and run until 28 August.
They will feature more than 3,700 competitors aged 15
to 18, some of whom hope to build towards a place in
the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
The World Health Organisation said on Friday the death
toll from the worst epidemic of the disease in four
decades has climbed to 1 145 in the afflicted countries.

Exactly! It's our fault anyway. We are the ones flooding into their country. Our own movie industry and news media isn't helping either.

We only had 3 cases, and we're on the fore-front... MY PROBLEM WITH GEJ IS JUST KEEPING MUTE WHILE ALL THIS HAPPENS. Reportings such as this will allow other countries treat us like some sort of plague.. Premium times, and our own media are on helping issues either. If this is not serious for you as a Nigerian, leave the country and get the treatment first hand!!!!

They said 'living in the village' not 'leaving the village'. The statement is quite clear. The Nigerian team was excited about LIVING IN the village. Common sense will tell you that they were reffering to the olympic village. If they were referring to Nigeria, then the words would be 'leaving the' not 'living in the'..... You title should be renamed to 'here's another reason why Nigerians don't make good reporters'

Unfortunately, we are not helping ourselves. Any small thing we resort to abuses and posting pictures of bad things in Africa. We show the world our floods, we tell them about our leader's ineptitude, we wash our dirty linens outside. Take the West for example, they will never show you that they have 'pot-holes' on their roads, they will never tell you about beggars on the streets of New York, London, Berlin, Beijing, Moscow. You will never see CNN telling you about barbaric lifestyles. All you see are people smiling and exuding life of sweetness.

Take for example, in the last 10 years that I have known Punch Newspapers for instance I have never seen good news on its front page with people smiling. May be I missed it but is rare. We are our worst enemy!

Are you guys daft. The village they are referring to is the games village. Nigerians are daft

They are felt the excitement of living in the village and now they have to leave. They are in the Olympics village interacting with others now they have to leave because of Ebola.
Nigerians are very dull
