What has APC got to do with all this if not the PDP lead govt. Your point is contradictory

Justcash:
My list includes;
1. APC
2. SAHARA REPORTERS
3. NORTHERN OLIGARCHY
4. SABOTEURS AMONGST CITIZENS
5. FEDERAL CHARACTER
6. POLITICS OF DESTRUCTIVE STRATEGY
7. TERRORISM AS A POLITICAL TOOL
8. CORRUPT SECURITY FORCES
9. FICTITIOUS UNITY AMONG NIGERIANS
10. OLUSEGUN OBASANJO AND HIS CRONIES

Take away these ten factors and leave Nigeria as she is now, we would have moved way ahead in terms of development. They know it, they can't just let it happen for some reasons noted above.

The fall out of the Biafra war amplified the gross vices that wasn't really a threat at that time. We started witnessing all manner of social ills after they Igbos were integrated into Nigeria. This remains contageous up till this present day.
In that case Shino Rambo, Dr Oyenusi etc must be an Igbo man, ain't they?

Thanks! The bolded part above is answer enough to your question as to why it was retained. It's also the reason why Ironsi and his ibo advisers foisted this form of govt on us with even consulting us beforehand. It's for this reason also that you ibos were all for one nigeria even as it's obvious that your so-called potential nigerians especially from the north, hate your guts and want nothing whatsoever to do with you greedy covetous beings.

They slaughtered you lot with gusto to emphasis how much they dislike you ibos but yet you insisted on been one with them hoping that eventually you will outsmart them and enslave them in their own region. Afterall, they are not as educated and hence not clever as you guys. They had their first graduate in 1953! You have forgotten that one does need a masters degree in Human Biology to know when you are been sodomised.

After killing most of their leaders whom they have willingly chosen to look out for their interest in the new nation, you "smart" ibos now want the northerners to accept your own definition of "united" Nigeria. You thought, the ibo domination you promised us in 1949 was here but alas! you did not bank on the northerners paying you back in your own nasty coin.

Bottomline is, the ONLY reason why you guys wanted One Nigeria with the northerners was because you thought you can outsmart them and over-run their region but your insidious plans failed, ojukwu then 419 you emotional beings into fighting a secessionist war that you were not fully prepared for.

Keep pulling assumptions from your backside.

So after all said and done, there is still ONE Nigeria. Is that such a big issue for you to grasp?
It does not matter the amount of hate or tribalism you pour into your comment, fact still remains that OP was pointing out some things which have not helped our stagnating country, and Tribalism clearly had a spot.
Your vocabulary does not even necessarily qualify you as a tribalist, It defines you as a threat to peace and someone who is deeply consumed by sadism and hatred for the IBO folk. It's something to describe the death of a people casually and another thing to describe their killers as "Slaughterers with GUSTO" shocked shocked shocked shocked

Yes, this is a Social Network and you can hide your arrogance behind your computer and be shriveled in your delirious picture of human life and how much it is worth; but you a probably a terrorist waiting to happen.

10. Ignorance

Definition By definition, Ignorance is lack of knowledge about a thing in a being capable of knowing.

Overview: The ‘I don't care attitude’ of Nigerians is slowly killing us on the inside. We play deaf and dumb to our political problems. We refuse to ask questions like -

Where is OUR missing money?
Where are the Chibok girls?
What about the refineries they promised Us?

We simply don't ASK!

those are the symptoms you mention and is found in all nations . the proportion may differ. our main problem is lack of the fear of God and secondly lack of love for our fellow human. period. lack of love makes us think that one tribe is low and one is better and so one must always rule ..etc lack of fear of God lead to corruption etc.

if igbo is the problem of Nigeria why do other Nigerians insist igbos be in one Nigeria? untill other tribes accept igbo in Nigeria that mean they like it that way. secondly, corruptiom is not the problem. the problem is impunity and nepotism.

The biggest problem with Nigeria is that it's a prison of tribes that don't belong together. I say dissolve Nigeria now,and let Yorubaland be free, with Lagos as our capital. Yoruba first! Yorubaland is my only nation.

@Op the problem of Nigeria is non of the above you so painstakingly elucidated... As IGBOSON has succinctly pointed out, it is the political structural deficit that is hampering the growth of this country. Restructure the polity where everyone has a stake and everyone can choose how they want to live their lives wihout encumberance of other "parties" then sit back and watch the growth trajectory of this nation.

All the voters should be demanding from these politicians is an absolute need to completely restructure the the nation politically... any other thing outside that is mere embelishment.

Nigeria is in the position that she is today because of the stringent adherence to federal character principle.

Definition:
According to Ladipo Adamolekun, John Erero and Basil Oshionebo in the Journal of Federalism 1991 21(4):75-88;

[b]The "federal character" principle, which has been enshrined in Nigeria's Constitution since 1979, seeks to ensure that appointments to public service institutions fairly reflect the linguistic, ethnic, religious, and geographic diversity of the country

The definition clearly stated that "Federal character" is a tool for ensuring fairness in public service over professionalism and goal attainment.

Problem:
Is Federal character the solution to the problems that we are facing in this country?

My thought:
I believe that Professionalism and goal attainment ability should be considered above federal character.

In Nigeria, Federal character has become more of a curse than a blessing. The total systemic collapse in Nigeria's socio-economic and political environment can be attributed to the Federal character practise.
Our political system is in shambles because professionals and experienced individuals are over-looked due to the fact that they are more in one part of the country than the order. The imbalance in the literacy rate between the South and the north of Nigeria has made it impossible to have qualified people in sensitive government positions. For example, the North would rather let an Arabic "Alamijiri" teacher from the north to be the minister of education, than to allow a southerner to play the role, all because of the a perceived need for a proper representation.
Parties now adopt the principle as a means of gaining credibility. PDP had to resort to a zoning arrangement for their political positions in order to reflect a federal character, and win credibility among the ethnic groups in Nigeria. We all know the result. Thay have produced inefficient and ineffective leaders, who would never have been able to compete with other potential pro-developmental leaders in the country.

Umar Musa Yar'adua is an example. We all know his story. It simply shows that "Federal character" does not bring about development.

The worst thing is that Nigeria practices this "Federal character" in every sphere of the country, including sports. This is sad because the more we do that, the more we ignore the more qualified and effective Nigerians, for less efficient and non-result oriented people. Look at our National soccer team, it is the federal character idea that has kept us where we are now.

Proposition:

If We must stay as one nation, then we must exist without a consideration of the dividing factors of our Nation. If we are Nigerians, then We should be Nigerians. Religion, sex, tribe, language etc must not matter atall.
We need to harness the abundant potentials in this country by not pretending to be one. We must know and believe that we are one.
There is an urgent need to use more of professionals and result oriented Nigerians to carry out national tasks, than to use unprogressive people due to this "Federal character " issue.
If Tunde Fashola is the best leader in the country, he should be able to run for the presidential post in this country without having to say, "it is not yet the turn of the Yorubas."
Recruitment in our armed forces should be done based purely on capabilities and prospects than by ethnic consideration and malicious aims.
Our National sports teams should have people that are ready to deliver irrespective of where they come from in the country. After all we are all Nigerians and want to move forward.

I can go on and on.

Proposition:

If we simply cannot stay in Nigeria as Nigerians, and do things based of capabilities and qualification, then we need to divide into ethnic lines, no matter how many.
We are Nigerians. Every Nigerian that is capable needs to be given a chance without his tribe being of importance.

Final statement:

Please, let us fight against Federal character in Nigeria. It is killing us!
