nnatom:
funny one though. we honour her by loving and accepting her as the mother of our lord Jesus Christ and not as a mere vessel like many protestant will say.
for more read this.
Why do Catholics Honor & Love Mary ?
A1. She brought the Savior into the World. Mary said Yes! In Luke 1:26-35 The Angel Gabriel appeared to the young Mary and said that she would conceive a child and he will be called “The Son of the Most High.” Now Mary has free will, like all of us, she could have said no. She could have said find someone else, but what did she say? In Luke 1:38 Mary answered “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” By her consent, by her free will Mary united her will to the will of the Father and brought the salvation of the human race into the world in the person of Jesus Christ. Think about it, without Jesus Christ there would be no salvation for mankind. Mary carried the God-Man, the creator of time and space himself in her womb. She agreed to provide him with flesh and blood, carried him for 9 months and nurtured him throughout his life.
A2. “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with you!”
When the Angel Gabriel came to Mary she was greeted with a royal greeting. Luke 1:28 recounts Gabriel greeting Mary by proclaiming “Hail, full of Grace, the Lord is with you!” The Greek word for Hail that is used here is a word that is used to address royalty. Think of it, an Angel, a being far superior to a human, greeting a young girl with such respect and awe; in other cases when an angel approaches a human this is not the case. This would imply that Mary is no normal human being; God created her and prepared her to carry his son, to be a living tabernacle of the Lord. “Full of Grace”, this is said by Gabriel to Mary in Luke 1:38 before she even said yes to be the Mother of God. This would imply that she was full of Grace (God’s own life and love) even before she had Jesus in her womb. Like the pure and untouchable Ark of the Covenant in the Old Testament that held symbols of God, Mary was made pure and full of grace in order to hold the Word of God made flesh, Jesus Christ Mary was even given the grace she needed for the encounter with the Angel Gabriel. In Revelation 19 and 22 when an Angel appears to John, he is confused and mistakes him for God and begins to worship him. When Gabriel appears to Mary in Luke 1 something very different happens. Mary has the grace to recognize that this Angel isn’t God and Gabriel acknowledges that Mary isn’t just some ordinary girl but a girl that has been prepared by God from her conception to be the Mother of the God-Man, Jesus Christ.
A3. “Blessed among women”
After the Angel Gabriel left Mary she went to see her cousin Elizabeth who in her old age was pregnant with John the Baptist. In Luke 1:41 after Mary greeted Elizabeth, Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and John the Baptist leaped in her womb in joy at the sound of Mary’s voice. The Holy Spirit talking through Elizabeth said to Mary “Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb!” Wow, the third person of the blessed Trinity inspired Elizabeth to deem Mary blessed amongst all women; Mary isn’t just some ordinary woman. These words of the Holy Spirit talking through Elizabeth make up the middle of the Hail Mary “blessed are you amongst women and blessed is the fruit of they womb, Jesus”
A4. She is the Mother of the Lord
Jesus wasn’t created, as the Nicene Creed proclaims “He was begotten, not made, one in being with the Father, through him all things were made.” So how is Mary, a creation of God, the mother of God? This answer is intertwined with the mystery of the Trinity and the Incarnation. The Father, Son and Holy Spirit are of the same substance but are unique. The 2nd person of the trinity, Jesus Christ, entered time and space and took on Mary’s flesh in the incarnation; when this happened Mary became the mother of Jesus. Since Mary is the mother of Jesus that makes her the mother of God. Mary is not the mother of the trinity, she did not exist before the trinity; she is the mother of the 2nd person of the trinity in the flesh, Jesus Christ. Many protestant Christians today say that Mary was not the mother of God but just the mother of Jesus. If Mary is not the mother of God but just the mother of Jesus then this assumes that Jesus is not God. This ideology reapeats a 1600 year old heresy that was disputed and resolved at the Council of Ephesus in 431AD. The heretic Nestorius claimed that Jesus Christ wasn’t divine and that Mary should be called the Christotokos (Christ bearer) instead of the Theotokos (God-bearer) since Jesus isn’t God. The Church at this council reaffirmed that Jesus is divine and since he is divine that makes Mary the Mother of God so rightfully so she was to be called the Theotokos, God- bearer.
A5. My soul magnifies the Lord, my spirit rejoices in God my Savior”
After Elizabeth declares that Mary is blessed amongst women, Mary sings what is known as the Canticle of Mary (Luke 1:46-55). In verse 46 Mary sings that her soul magnifies the Lord. Think about that. The beauty and purity of Mary’s soul magnifies or intensifies the presence of the Lord. It has been said that Jesus is like the sun; the source of light and Mary is like the moon, reflecting that light of God. Mary is not just a vessel that held Christ, Mary’s body and soul was created particularly by God to be a living tabernacle of the Word of God, Jesus Christ. To say that Mary was just a mere vessel is undermining that majesty of God by undermining the greatness of his creation. Mary then says in verse 47 that her “spirit rejoices in God my savior” Mary is rejoicing in God because he has created her and destined her to the Mother of his Son. God has granted Mary particular graces that no other human has….the graces needed to be the Mother of God. The Catholic’s honor and love for Mary reflects the deep love of God who made her who she is.
A6. The Blessed Mother
In Luke 1:48 Mary proclaims that “All generations will call me blessed..” God created Mary as such a pure, graced filled creation that from then on until all eternity she will be called blessed. This is where Catholics get the title of “The Blessed Mother”; it’s straight out of the Bible.
A7. She is the Mother of Humanity
Mary was chosen to be the mother of Jesus but she is also our Mother. In John 19:26-27 when Jesus is on the Cross he looks at his mother and says “Woman, behold your son!” and then he looks at John and says “Behold, your mother!” Since early in the history of the Church this has been interpreted as Jesus extending Mary’s motherhood to all of humanity. This can be better understood in relation to the Father and the Son. God the Father has one son, Jesus Christ, but by extension of our baptism Jesus’ son ship is extended to all Christians so we truly become sons and daughters of God. In a similar yet different situation by Jesus’ words on the cross Mary’s Motherhood is extended to all of us. Although Mary is human and the Father is divine we have a mother in heaven who loves and prays for us.
A8. She suffered with Christ
Mary suffered with Jesus as only a mother could when seeing her child being mocked, humiliated, beaten and put to death in the most demeaning form of the day. Mary’s suffering was foreshadowed by Simeon when he said to her after she presented the baby Jesus in the temple “Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted (and you yourself a sword will pierce) so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.” (Luke 1:34-35). Mary is considered a co-redeemer with Christ due to the most personal role she played in salvation history by saying yes to taking on the role of the Mother of God and accepting all the joy and suffering which came with that. In fact every baptized Christian is called to offer up their suffering with that of Christ for the salvation of souls. Paul supports this in Colossians 1:24 where he writes “Now I rejoice in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am filling up what is lacking in the afflictions of Christ on behalf of his body, which is the church.” Since we are members of the Body of Christ we share in the life and mission of Christ. Mary has a particularly important share in this due to her unique and intimate role as the Mother of God.

knowledge4: She was highly favoured to be selected to be the vessel for the delivery of baby Jesus. i.e.His earthly mother. That is all about the Virgin Mary as far as the Bible goes. The mother of Jesus is not an idol to be worshiped as the Catholics erroneously do. Mary also fought for her salvation like every other did. Only Jesus Christ is the Savior of the World, who has a name above every other name Only Jesus is to be worshiped. Worshipping Mary is idolatry and a heresy that will condemn the offenders to eternal hell Catholics don't worship Mother Mary, we only honour her, just as we honour our mother's at home and as you pentecostal's honour your pastors, even some of you worship your pastors as god, I don't know why you guys keep saying Catholics are worshipping Mother Mary, Please we are not worshipping her but honouring her. Please take note of this. |

Having read the teachings of the greatest Christian leaders of the early church on this topic, I don't care about the falsehood being peddled by this poster. There is just too much dirt associated with the Catholic church. A church that embraces same sex marriage, why on earth should u want to continue in their doctrine. The church that has so much of satanic stories attached to it should be totally ignored. Darkness has nothing to do with light they are entirely separate. And until we christians come together as one in union our churches will not grow. Ever wondered why the muslims are growing so vast? We should not be too surprised at their exaltation of the Mary above Jesus, for Mary is the name they merely borrowed for the "the great goddess Diana.. whom all Asia and the world worship" (Acts 19.27), same as the queen of heaven that we read about in Jer. 7.18-20. To prove it's a borrowed name for an ancient pagan goddess, you would observe that the queen of heaven was being worshipped centuries before Mary was born, yet she is often referred to in the Roman Catholic Church as the queen of heaven. Also check out Jer. 44.17 - 19.
Talking about the evolution of the Catholic religion from a political force to a syncretic religious system, It may interest you to know that Mary (Diana of Ephesus actually) was not part of their worship originally as admitted by the Catholic Encyclopaedia: "Devotion to our Lady in its ultimate analysis must be regarded as a practical application of the doctrine of the Communion of Paints. Seeing that this doctrine is not contained, at least explicitly, in the earlier forms of Apostles' breed..".
And to think many good people still worship in that Church worries me a lot. The first picture shows Pope John Paul II, bowing and kneeling before a statue of Mary. Isn't kneeling and bowing an act of worship? The second is an image of the Catholic Monstrance and the third is an early picture of sun worship in Egypt. Look at the image of the sun in both pictures. If this is not paganism, I wonder what it is. 1 Like |

Stop your lies! New Testament was never made like a textbook in 397 AD. All the books in the Testament had been written in the First Century AD and not some 4th Century collections. Those who collected the books can worship Mary all they want, it doesn't dispute the fact that the entire Bible is in contrast to that. 1 Like |

God bless you OP. As for those idolatrous generation (Catholics), they can keep on worshipping Ashtoreth whom the Bible called, "Queen of Heaven"- Jeremiah 7:18, 44:15-23. Let them Christianize this goddess as Mary to deceive the unlearned. How can Mary who's dead and waiting in the grave for the resurrection intercede for the living? Are the dead conscious of anything? (ECC. 9:5, PSALM 6:5, PSALM 115:17). How can Mary be in heaven when Jesus says, "No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven?"- JOHN 3:13. Apostle Peter confirms it also in ACTS 2:34, "For David did not ascend into the heavens...". So, how can anyone say Mary is in heaven interceding for the living? This belief crashes like an earthquake in the light of the scriptures! The fact is that, all those supposed apparitions of Mary are actually satanic, yes! 2 Corinthians 11:14 attest to it, "And no wonder! For satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light". My brethren it is clearly written in the bible that the womb that bore Jesus never bore any other person it was shut... Eze.44:2. As u all know mother Mary is the rightful lineage of David..Joseph also is David's lineage but he has no procreation of Jesus birth.biologically he has nothing to do with his birth. Also, the use of image as veneration in the church was brought in as a means of converting pagan to christian by using their tools as a means of worshiping Jehovah the most high,The I am that I am...plz candidly read the law book of the Catholic church which is the "Canon law" have u all ask urselves that celebration of birthday are all pegan practice but the church choose to use it to mark the birth of Christ Jesus. well, let's not argue that but whichever way u look at it, your earlier statement that prompted me to respond is wrong. just wana correct that notion. You said that: "1 Cor 1:1-2 implies that all believers are saints" but that's not actually what the verse said as 1 Corinthians 1:2 Unto the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call upon the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours: the Bible didn't use the word believers, u invented that one yourself thereby u are of the opinion that those sanctified in Christ Jesus are believers "according to the verse" (of which I equally agree). But the same verse does not state or imply that they are saints. Ofcourse, There are many other saints that are not canonized or celebrated by the church but that's only because of absent of proof. The Church can only canonized the ones they've verified that's why I said only God knows that lived a life of extraordinary Holiness. My singular response still remains that all believers are not saints Well you are free to believe what you will, am sure my post was clear enough |

Re: "What Does The Bible Say About The Virgin Mary?" by dozai: 8:34pm On Oct 13, 2014 |
OLAADEGBU: Question: "What does the Bible say about the virgin Mary?"
Answer: Mary the mother of Jesus was described by God as "highly favoured" (Luke 1:28). The phrase "highly favoured" comes from a single Greek word, which essentially means "much grace." Mary received God’s grace.
Grace is "unmerited favour," meaning something we receive despite the fact that we do not deserve it. Mary needed grace from God just as the rest of us do. Mary herself understood this fact, as she declared in Luke 1:47, “. . . and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour. . .”
Mary recognized that she needed the Saviour. The Bible never says that Mary was anyone but an ordinary human whom God chose to use in an extraordinary way. Yes, Mary was a righteous woman and favoured (graced) by God (Luke 1:27-28). At the same time, Mary was a sinful human being who needed Jesus Christ as her Saviour, just like everyone else (Ecclesiastes 7:20; Romans 3:23; 6:23; 1 John 1:8.)
Mary did not have an "immaculate conception." The Bible doesn’t suggest Mary’s birth was anything but a normal human birth. Mary was a virgin when she gave birth to Jesus (Luke 1:34-38), but the idea of the perpetual virginity of Mary is unbiblical. Matthew 1:25, speaking of Joseph, declares, "But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus."
The word "until" clearly indicates that Joseph and Mary did have sexual union after Jesus was born. Joseph and Mary had several children together after Jesus was born. Jesus had four half-brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). Jesus also had half-sisters, although they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:55-56). God blessed and graced Mary by giving her several children, which in that culture was the clearest indication of God’s blessing on a woman.
One time when Jesus was speaking, a woman in the crowd proclaimed, "Blessed is the womb that bore You and the breasts at which You nursed" (Luke 11:27). There was never a better opportunity for Jesus to declare that Mary was indeed worthy of praise and adoration. What was Jesus’ response? "On the contrary, blessed are those who hear the word of God and observe it" (Luke 11:28). To Jesus, obedience to God’s Word was more important than being the woman who gave birth to the Saviour.
Nowhere in Scripture does Jesus, or anyone else, direct any praise, glory, or adoration towards Mary. Elizabeth, Mary’s relative, praised Mary in Luke 1:42-44, but her praise is based on the blessing of giving birth to the Messiah. It was not based on any inherent glory in Mary.
Mary was present at the cross when Jesus died (John 19:25). Mary was also with the apostles on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:14). However, Mary is never mentioned again after Acts chapter 1. The apostles did not give Mary a prominent role. Mary’s death is not recorded in the Bible. Nothing is said about Mary ascending to heaven or having an exalted role there. As the earthly mother of Jesus, Mary should be respected, but she is not worthy of our worship or adoration.
The Bible nowhere indicates that Mary can hear our prayers or that she can mediate for us with God. Jesus is our only advocate and mediator in heaven (1 Timothy 2:5). If offered worship, adoration, or prayers, Mary would say the same as the angels: "Worship God!" (see Revelation 19:10; 22:9.) Mary herself sets the example for us, directing her worship, adoration, and praise to God alone: "My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour, for He has been mindful of the humble state of His servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me — holy is His name" (Luke 1:46-49).
Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/virgin-Mary.html#ixzz3CGQKef6b LET ME EDUCATE U Matthew 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?” In the original Greek the words used are adelphoi (“brethren”) and adelphe(“sisters”). The words adelphoi and adelphe can refer to actual siblings. However, the Bible also uses these words to describe people who are not brothers, but cousins or relatives or step brothers or close neighbors. The Bible says Abraham was Lots Brother. But in actual fact he was his Uncle::: see Genesis 11:31; 14:12). Please follow this carefullyJames and Joses are two of the names given as “brothers” of Jesus. It can be shown, by the following points, that these were children of another woman and not siblings of Jesus. . There were three women at the foot of the Cross: 1) the Blessed Virgin Mary (the mother of Jesus); 2) Mary the wife of Cleophas (who is said to be the Blessed Virgin Mary’s sister); and 3) Mary Magdalene. John 19:25 “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus [1] his mother, and [2] his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and [3] Mary Magdalene.” Mary, the wife of Cleophas, is also described as “the other Mary” in Matthew 28:1. The Bible tells us that James and Joses are the children of this Mary: Matthew 27:56 “Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedees children.” Thus, James and Joses (who are called the “brothers” of Jesus) are not His siblings, but at least His cousins. However, they are probably not even first cousins. This is because Mary of Cleophas (the mother of James and Joses), who is said to be the “sister” of Jesus’ mother (John 19:25), is also named Mary. It’s extremely unlikely that two siblings in a Hebrew family would be given the same name. Most likely they were not sisters, but members of the same clan who were called “sisters” in the same way that James, Joses, Simon and Judas were called “brothers” of Jesus. All of this shows that none of the statements in the Bible about the brothers and sisters of Jesus disproves, in any way, the perpetual virginity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Now we must look at the proof that Mary had no other children and that she was perpetually a virgin. Ezechiel 44:2 “And the Lord said to me: This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall pass through it: because the Lord the God of Israel hath entered in by it, and it shall be shut.” While dying on the Cross, Jesus entrusts His mother to the care of St. John the Apostle. John 19:26-27 “When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple [John] took her to his own.” It’s also quite significant that when Jesus was found in the temple at 12 years old, there is no indication whatsoever that Mary and Joseph hadother children (Luke 2:41-51). The indication is that He is an only child. He is also referred to as “the son of Mary” (Mark 6:3), not as a son of Mary. Never once is Mary said to have had other children. Please my Brother i am a free thinker, but convince me with facts and not half truths. 1 Like |

dikenna: think of it objectively urself. Will jesus handover his mother to john and say woman behold your son, is she had any other son? (John 19:26). Furthermore, if jesus had any siblings (sister in particular) wouldn't they be with his mother at the foot of the cross at his dying moments? If a woman that is not his biological sister could take the risk and wipe his face with a cloth on his toturous journey to death does it make sense that is he had any biological sister at that time she wouldn't be mentioned? Food for thot my brother ''..Behold, your Son..'' (I am going to be killed, take this man as your son from now on). Does that mean she did not have or did have a son? I am not discussing this any further. 1 Like |

Stop your lies! New Testament was never made like a textbook in 397 AD. All the books in the Testament had been written in the First Century AD and not some 4th Century collections. Those who collected the books can worship Mary all they want, it doesn't dispute the fact that the entire Bible is in contrast to that. You live in denial! Yes,All the books were written in 1st century. Were these books part of the Bible in the 1st century? When Mark wrote his gospel account, did he include it in the Bible? How? How and when did Paul's epistles become the Bible? The books of NT were individual writings which were not in the scripture until the Church Fathers agreed to canonize a NT. Facts exist on who, where, when & how this was done. That you are ignorant of this does not change anything. It only makes you a Liar. |

Splinz: God bless you OP. Blind guides leading the blind!!! This could only have been written by a retarded mind! If heaven is where God is,would the Queen of that Heaven be Ashtoreth? Would a demon be in God's court? Clearly like most protestants/penticostals,you have not read about the queen crowned with 12 Stars(cf Rev 12)who gave birth to the Child who saved the world. Kindly read Rev 12 and revert to me Pentecostal/Protestant hypocrisal teaching claim that Mary and others are in the grave but when Idahosa died, they asserted that 'Idahosa has gone to be with the Lord' 'Anayo Iloputaife has transited to glory' etc. Let me ask oo.. Does the soul stay in the grave even for one second or is it the carcass that's usually buried? How does a sane mind quote an OT(pre Jesus' ressurection )text to prove that all christians(post Jesus' resurrection)are still in grave? Does the scripture not say that Jesus liberated such grave-held persons at His death? Did Jesus not tell the 'good thief' on the cross '..this day you willl be with me in paradise' Is grave paradise or Jesus didn't fulfill this promise or only the 'good thief' is in paradise since 2000yrs? My dear, your points are empty and shallow. Your bible quotes are irrelevant and out of context. Your conclusions are baseless, unfounded and not supported by any authority (biblical or theologial) All marian apparitions certified by the CC are proven beyond every reasonable doubt. Unlike those who rush to celebrate unproven miracles, the CC is known to be painstaking and intrusive in its investigations. It also has the greatest colllection of human arsenals to unravel any truth of faith(theologians, bible scholars, exorcists etc) |

Unity in darkness? Never! I thank God for the lives of those who first protested. "By their fruits, you shall know tnem" Martin Luther and Calvin were peers and soulmates when they started protestantism. After a few years, they disagreed on doctrine, protested against each other and Calvin moved and started his own church. Later, many Calvinists & Lutherans protested against heir leaders, made own bible interpretations and founded own churches. Today, there are tens of thousands of protestant churches teaching different at times contradicting doctrines |

enigmaotr: And to think many good people still worship in that Church worries me a lot. Oga keep your ignorance to yourself. If we agree that kneeling and bowing amount to worship, then all those who kneel or bow before their elders,pastors,parents,kings,father-in-laws,judges etc are also involved in worship. Do you accept this? How does the look alike of the Monstrance and your picture of early sun worship make yhem similar? Are both of same substance? Is their any similarity in the theology behind both? The monstrance can be made in any shape not neccesarily the one in your pix, do other shapes and designs also make it look like egyptian early sun worship? It is painful when slow minds attempt to ridicule with shallow points, what geniuses like Augustine of Hippo,Thomas Aquinas Francis of Assisi already confirmed and affirmed to be true, correct with the deepest of scholarship |

my brother. Read this and u will understand that mary had only jesus as her biological son. www.catholic.com/tracts/brethren-of-the-lord. A summary of what is there are as follows: 1. The meaning of brother in the bible can also be an extended relative e.g gen 13:8 where brother was used to describe the relationship between abraham and lot who are uncle and nephew. Also 1 cor. 15:6 doesn't mean that mary gave birth to 500 children even tho they are all called brethren of christ. 2. These brothers were never once called children of mary the mother of jesus. 3. There are other women in the bible called mary. James nd joseph who are called jesus' "brothers" (mark 6:3) are indeed children of Mary but not the blessed Mary who bore Jesus. This mary was among those who witnessed the crucifixion from afar (matt 27:56) while the blessed Mary stood by the cross(john 19:25). So u see, christ had no biological brothers. Ichiato:
Please read carefully and seek to understand. The bible passage above only states the following, 1) That mary is christ mother. 2) That christ had brothers and sisters. It didn't say mary had other children. The brothers of christ could have been close relatives, step brothers or adopted children of mary. As To why out of all these options Catholics refuse to accept that mary had other biological children please read the link my fellow brother gave to you. Please just give him the benefit of doubt. That's all. chalbert:
OBJECTION!! matthew 13:55-56 doesn't say Jesus had other brothers. it says (I quote from.the Bible: ) Matthew 13:55 Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Matthew 13:56 And his sisters, are they not all with us? Whence then hath this man all these things? brethren doesn't mean they are of the same parents rather it means they have same faith. James, joses, Simon,Judas were hie followers.. This same Judas betrayed him
dozai:
LET ME EDUCATE U
Matthew 13:55 “Is not this the carpenter’s son? Is not his mother called Mary? And his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas?” In the original Greek the words used are adelphoi (“brethren”) and adelphe(“sisters”). The words adelphoi and adelphe can refer to actual siblings. However, the Bible also uses these words to describe people who are not brothers, but cousins or relatives or step brothers or close neighbors.
The Bible says Abraham was Lots Brother. But in actual fact he was his Uncle:::see Genesis 11:31; 14:12).
Please follow this carefully James and Joses are two of the names given as “brothers” of Jesus.
John 19:25 “Now there stood by the cross of Jesus [1] his mother, and [2] his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and [3] Mary Magdalene.”
Mary, the wife of Cleophas, is also described as “the other Mary” in Matthew 28:1.
Ezechiel 44:2 “And the Lord said to me: This gate shall be shut, it shall not be opened, and no man shall pass through it: because the Lord the God of Israel hath entered in by it, and it shall be shut.”
While dying on the Cross, Jesus entrusts His mother to the care of St. John the Apostle. John 19:26-27 “When Jesus therefore had seen his mother and the disciple standing whom he loved, he saith to his mother: Woman, behold thy son. After that, he saith to the disciple: Behold thy mother. And from that hour, the disciple [John] took her to his own.”
It’s also quite significant that when Jesus was found in the temple at 12 years old, there is no indication whatsoever that Mary and Joseph hadother children (Luke 2:41-51). The indication is that He is an only child. He is also referred to as “the son of Mary” (Mark 6:3), not as a son of Mary. Never once is Mary said to have had other children.
Please my Brother i am a free thinker, but convince me with facts and not half truths.
Question: "Did Jesus have brothers and sisters (siblings)?"Answer: Jesus’ brothers are mentioned in several Bible verses. Matthew 12:46, Luke 8:19, and Mark 3:31 say that Jesus’ mother and brothers came to see Him. The Bible tells us that Jesus had four brothers: James, Joseph, Simon, and Judas (Matthew 13:55). The Bible also tells us that Jesus had sisters, but they are not named or numbered (Matthew 13:56). In John 7:1-10, His brothers go on to the festival while Jesus stays behind. In Acts 1:14, His brothers and mother are described as praying with the disciples. Galatians 1:19 mentions that James was Jesus’ brother. The most natural conclusion of these passages is to interpret that Jesus had actual blood half-siblings. Some Roman Catholics claim that these “brothers” were actually Jesus’ cousins. However, in each instance, the specific Greek word for “brother” is used. While the word can refer to other relatives, its normal and literal meaning is a physical brother. There was a Greek word for “cousin,” and it was not used. Further, if they were Jesus’ cousins, why would they so often be described as being with Mary, Jesus’ mother? There is nothing in the context of His mother and brothers coming to see Him that even hints that they were anyone other than His literal, blood-related, half-brothers. A second Roman Catholic argument is that Jesus’ brothers and sisters were the children of Joseph from a previous marriage. An entire theory of Joseph's being significantly older than Mary, having been previously married, having multiple children, and then being widowed before marrying Mary is invented without any biblical basis. The problem with this is that the Bible does not even hint that Joseph was married or had children before he married Mary. If Joseph had at least six children before he married Mary, why are they not mentioned in Joseph and Mary’s trip to Bethlehem (Luke 2:4-7) or their trip to Egypt (Matthew 2:13-15) or their trip back to Nazareth (Matthew 2:20-23)? There is no biblical reason to believe that these siblings are anything other than the actual children of Joseph and Mary. Those who oppose the idea that Jesus had half-brothers and half-sisters do so, not from a reading of Scripture, but from a preconceived concept of the perpetual virginity of Mary, which is itself clearly unbiblical: “But he (Joseph) had no union with her (Mary) until she gave birth to a son. And he gave Him the name Jesus” (Matthew 1:25). Jesus had half-siblings, half-brothers and half-sisters, who were the children of Joseph and Mary. That is the clear and unambiguous teaching of God’s Word. Read more: http://www.gotquestions.org/Jesus-siblings.html#ixzz3G6UeR5M8 3 Likes |

Weah96:
I'm always open to anything brother. But I need a reason.
I doubt that you're able to TELL me this reason but I'm willing to give to the opportunity to try.
Let me give you the benefit of the doubt and furnish you with this information and hope that you can digest it. "And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS" (Luke 1:31) The commentary below is for your perusal. See how God planted the Holy One in the womb of Mary. Note that her egg was not fertilised in the fallopian tube. It was a special creation in her womb just as God miraculously created the body of Adam and Eve. Luke 1:31 1:31 conceive in thy womb.
The miraculous conception was unusual in that it took place directly in the womb rather than first in the tubes, but it was uniquely miraculous in that no man was involved. "That holy thing" was placed directly in Mary’s womb by God "the Holy Ghost" (Luke 1:35) and thus was uniquely "the seed" of the woman (Genesis 3:15). Just as the body of the first Adam was directly formed by God (Genesis 2:7), with no genetic connection to either father or mother, so the body of "the last Adam" (1 Corinthians 15:45) was directly formed by God (Hebrews 10:5), with no genetic connection to either parent. Since the very "ground" was brought under God’s curse because of sin (Genesis 3:17), all the elements of the ground (i.e., "the dust of the earth",) out of which the bodies of Adam and Eve and all their descendants had been formed, were contaminated with the "bondage of corruption" (or decay—Romans 8:21-22). This was just as true of Mary’s body as of Joseph’s, so there could have been no natural genetic connection of Jesus’ body to that of Mary, any more than to Joseph’s. The "holy thing" placed in Mary’s womb by the Holy Spirit could have been nothing less than a special creation—just as was the body of Adam! Otherwise, like all men born of women, Jesus would have inherited both physical defects and the sin-nature of Adam and Eve. This could only have been prevented by a miraculous cleansing of the conceptus, and this, of course, would be a special creation. Jesus was the only begotten Son of God, as well as the son of Mary, but He was not the Son of God and Mary. |

this is clutching at the thinnest of straws just to discredit the whole occurrence. So this was a questionable need but was recorded as our Lord's 1st miracle.! So No significance in providing a better wine than what had just run out?no significance in the words -do whatever he tells you? I think you need to read the verses in a wider context. It wasn't recorded that he refused to carry out the miracle so you have no point.
If you knew what Jesus' mission was here on earth you will not be saying that miraculously creating wine in a wedding was one of them. Many folks have misconstrued the type of wine and ended up a sot. 1 Like |

Please try to address the points raised. Are there exceptions to the use of ALL?a while ago I gave you gen 3.15 as the basis of immaculate conception. Also, the angel Gabriel called Mary full of grace.
Neither Gen 3:15 nor angel Gabriel's proclamation say that Mary was immaculately born. |

You better not worship Mary. Give God all the honour, praise and glory for He will not share His glory with anybody, dead or alive. 2 Likes |
