RE: Mr. President Sack Engr Amuchi Now!

The attention of the National Executive of Eye of Niger Delta has been drawn to a Press Statement purportedly signed by the National Coordinator of Eye of Niger Delta, Mr. Tari Victor Ben and published in several online as well as print Media outfits.

It will amaze the general public to note that neither the National Executive nor National Coordinator ever sanctioned such call on Mr. President to sack SIR, ENGR. GABRIEL CHUKUBUEKE AMUCHI FNSE, an illustrious and hard working son of Niger Delta. We have no doubt that those orchestrating such publications are people who's primary aim was to down play the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR, as well as to pitch EYE OF NIGER DELTA against Sir, Engr, Gabriel C. Amuchi who incidentally is Niger Delta's most committed Public Servant.

We therefore use this medium to make a passionate call on right thinking members of the public to discredit such publication as same does not represent the collective aspirations of the good people of Niger Delta and Nigeria at large, nor did it emanate from the authorities of Eye of Niger Delta.

It is indeed most disturbing as the said publication came up only a week after Sir. Engr. Gabriel Chukubueke Amuchi FNSE was named by Eye of Niger Delta as being one of the most valuable "Transformers" in the administration of President Goodluck Ebele Azikiwe Jonathan GCFR, performing creditably well and thereby supporting Mr. Presidents Transformation Agenda!

We must add, that apart from clearly refuting the said publication, it is very imperative for us to take further steps for the general public to know that every single thing that‎ was said in that publication is totally false, especially the confrontation between the Lagos State Government and FERMA, this is even a well known fact to the media as that issue was extensively publicized when it occurred and that was a long time before Sir. Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi took over responsibility as Managing Director of FERMA.

We may have to remind Nigerian that Sir. Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi is a foremost HIGHWAY ENGINEER in Nigeria, and as usual Mr. President does not compromise merit and ability, it therefore goes without saying that he is a round peg in a round hole.

In terms of experience Sir. Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi is infallible, as he made careful and progressive growth until he eventually became the Managing Director! It must be stated that at different times he was Zonal Coordinator for the South South and South East respectively for which he bagged several awards from corporate and private, including traditional institutions all in recognition of his hard work.

The so called Road Abuse Surveillance Committee, which was mentioned in the said misguided publication, was actually a recommendation of Sir, Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi to the Hon. Minister of Works who inaugurated same and placed them under the supervision of Sir. Engr. Amuch, and today Nigerians are testifying to the efficacy and efficiency of the Road Abuse Surveillance Committee.

Recently Mr. President on National Television commended the collaboration between
‎FERMA and the FRSC, as well as the Zero pothole initiative of Sir, Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi which has reduced the rate of road accident to an all time low record.

In our view, no right thinking person would call for the sack of a man, whom many has described a blessing to Nigerian Highways, if the NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF ROAD TRANSPORT OWNERS (NARTO) can afford to sing the praise of Sir. Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi, the simple question is, who should know about Nigerian roads more than NARTO? Even as they have severally passed a vote of confidence on the MD of FERMA by way of their several awards.

The same man set up the Road surveillance and Monitoring Unit, as well as commence the Pavement Preventive Maintenance Programme on Critical High Ways. Not to talk of the Establishment of the Cold Asphalt Production sites at Kuje, Abuja and other locations at the six Geopolitical Zones of the Country to ensure year round maintenance Nation wide!

These are to mention just but a few of the developmental strides of Sir, Engr. Gabriel C. Amuchi as Managing Director of FERMA in such a shot period in office! It is therefore unthinkable and very unlikely that as a group with knowledge of all these and indeed much more progress recorded by the Managing Director of FERMA we or any other group at all for that matter would be calling for his sack, when for the first time in history a Highway Engineer is in charge of our High ways.

Finally we wish to once again state that the said publication here being referred should ‎be discredited from its root as it is a deliberate attempt to miss lead the general public and by all means the handy work of detractor.
