EBOLA: Abuja Schools Adopt Home School Programme by Nobody: 11:43am On Sep 12, 2014
As new date for resumption of schools in Nigeria remain uncertain after the outbreak of ebola disease in the country, some schools in Abuja the federal capital have adopted a what they call Home School Programme HSP. Under this programme, parents have been issued all the relevant textbooks for the session which they will use in teaching their wards at home. BabyLove School, Lugbe Abuja is one the schools running this programme. They have made it compulsory for parents to come to school and pick up their children's textbooks (even when parents have not paid for these books). Teachers in the school in the first week of September welcomed parents and gave them studying materials (mainly textbooks ). On Fridays parents are expected to report back to school with completed assignments done by their children and collect another assignment. Many parents of the school have praised this initiative and believe it will go a long way to fill the gap created by the forced holiday.
