No one seem to be posting questions on mensuration, I was asked onesphere and one longitude question. Let's not limit mathematics to world problem alone. My observation though, I stand to be corrected. Ehn ehn, someone should differentiate btw ' I stand to be corrected and ' I stand corrected'. abi na d same thing ni. I don't think so. 1. A boy thinks of a number. He squares it and Let the number be x x2 - x = 42 x2 - x - 42 = 0 x2 + 6x - 7x - 42 = 0 x(x+6) -7(x+6) = 0 (x-7) (x+6) = 0 x-7=0 or x+6=0 X=7 or x=-6 2. The altitude of a triangle is 2cm less than the let the base = x Height(altitude) = x-2 A= 1/2*b*h 262.5= 1/2 * x(x-2) 262.5*2 = x2 - 2x 525= x2 - 2x x2 - 2x - 525 = 0 Use quadratic formular, x= 23.93cm 3. A pupil multiples 3 numbers. One of them isthe numbers are fractions. 4. A rectangle has a perimeter of 54cm and an P= 2(l+b) and A = lb 2(l+b)= 54 l+b=27........... (1) lb= 180........ (2) From eqn (1), L= 27-b Sub for l in eqn (2) (27-b)b= 180 27b-b2= 180 -b2+27b-180=0 b2-27b+180=0 b2-12b-15b+180=0 b(b-12)-15(b-12)=0 (b-15)(b-12)=0 b=15 or b= 12. When b = 15, Sub for b in eqn (1) L+15= 27 L= 27-15 L= 12 ( Wrong because the breadth can not be longer than the length ) When b= 12 L+12= 27 L= 27-12 L=15 Therefore l=15cm, b= 12cm. |

Guys be careful as regards who you call o. I just reported a guy that copied my introductory speech and put his number at the end of it making it look like I dropped my number for u guys to call. The rule should be for u to post ur enquiry and u will be responded to on this thread, no need to call anyone and if there is urgent need to call anyone, I guess u can all call labodinho and maybe tobexin. |

A pupil multiples 3 numbers. One of them is the number 4. of the other 2 numbers, one is let the other two nos be x and y 4xy= 45...... (1) x= 6+y..... (2) Sub for x in eqn (1) 4(6+y)(y)=45 24y+4y2=45 24y+4y2-45=0 y2+24y-45=0 Use the quadratic formular, You will get y= 3/2 or -15/2 But y cannot be negative, so, y= 3/2 Sub for y in eqn (1) x= 6+ 3/2 x= 12+3/2 x= 15/2 The unknown nos are; 15/2 and 3/2. |

Let the number of old students be y, Age of old students=40y, age of new students=120x32=3840, total average age is 40y+3840/y+120=36, cross mutiply and solve for y, y will be 120, d total number of students is 120+120=240. 4 I=PRT, 225=3PR, R=75/P, compound intrest A=P(1+R)^n, but A=P+I, 153+P=P(1+75/P)^2, 153+P=P(1+150/P+5625/P^2), 153+P=P+150+5625/P, 153P+P^2=P^2+150P+5625, solve for P which is 1875. Number 5 and 6 require a diagram to explain, and i cannot draw it here |

Draw a diagraw to complete d pyramid frm d frustum, using similar triangle to find the total height of the pyramid, let the total height of the pyramid be x+5, then x+5/5=6/3, cross multiply, x=5, total height of pyramid is 10,volume of frustum=vol of big pyramid-vol of small pyramid=1/3xarea of square base x height=1/3x6x6x10- 1/3x3x3x5=120-15=105 OR since the square at d top and bottom is 6 and 3 which is in 6:3=2:1, then height of big and small pyramid will also be in 2:1=10:5, vol of frustum=1/3x6x6x10- 1/3x3x3x5=120-15=105 |

David:You have to look for someone to help u buy the form in skul, then u register in makurdi. I don't think there is. you can search though. I think this thread is our point of convergence since all applicants regardless of ones faculty is writing same putme combination |

Some Maths questions.... 1. The mean of seven numbers is 10. If six of the numbers are 2, 4, 8, 14, 16 and 18. Find the mode. 2. The radius of a circle is increasing at the rate of 0.02cm/s. Find the rate at which the area is increasing when the radius of the circle is 7cm. 3. In how many ways can a student select 2 subjects from 5 subjects? 4. Solve for x and y in equations below: x2 - y2 = 4 x + y = 2 5. The angles of a polygon are given by x, 2x, 3x, 4x and 5x respectively. Find the value of x. 6. Find the distance between the point (4,3) and the intersection of y=2x+4 and y=7-x. 7. If angle X is 135o, evaluate cos X 8. Evaluate S2 1(x2-4x) dx 9. The mean of seven numbers is 96. If an eight number is added, the mean becomes 112. Find the eight number. 10. A chord of a circle of radius 7cm is 5cm from the centre of the circle. What is the length of the chord? 11. A solid metal cube of side 3cm is placed in a rectangular tank of dimensions 3cm, 4cm and 5cm. What volume of water can the tank now hold? |

kidrossy:Maths English economics and govt are accepted that's more like a common knowledge. Strangely commerce isnt accepted and the school is quiet about account but miraculously, Biology qualifies you to study economics in unilag. Guy don't mind my story, to the best of my knowledge, u are eligible with the ffg combo, Maths, English, Econs, Govt and Biology |
