investnow2013: ^^^Isn't it ironic that this post of Prince Arthur with his latest private jet acquisition comes immediately after the one showcasing the Obi Jackson world-class childrens hospital? Not trying to be funny, but can anyone point to any world-class investments by either Prince Arthur or Orji Uzor Kalu (that always features in Forbes richest Africans list) in their respective states or any other state in the South East!? 6 Likes |

Arthur 1000 can turn Toronto Hospital Onitsha owned by his late brother to a Worldclass specialist Hospital if he want!.He can also singlehandedly build The Anambra Cargo Airport Umuleri!...... InyinyaAgbaOku: Bro, you made that comment because you are a product of Nigerian iniversities without a benefit of knowing what is obtainable elsewhere. I haven't said Nigerian doctors are bad, but you can only drive a car if you were trained with a car. If you are trained with a bicycle, and someone buys a car and you jump into it without proper training, you will wreck it and wreck yourself in spite of your best intentions. There is a reason why our universities and hospitals consistently rank lower than south Africa's or USA universities or hospitals, yet when our doctors get to South Africa or USA and learn how to work with modern technology, they excel and beat their doctors. It clearly shows our problem isn't that we are not brilliant as you tried to twist my post, but we aren't well equipped to learn with the right tools in our local universities and teaching hospitals No public teaching hospital has modern equipment being installed at Obijackson hospital. It makes every sense to get doctors from USA or UK to train our people on how to leverage on those equipment to become a truly top notch referral hospital in this part of the world. It has nothing to do with USA doctor being smarter. Actually, our doctors are smarter considering what they achieve without modern equipment. Again, this is a case of teaching someone trained with a bicycle how to operate a motor vehicle so that he can use the new tool to achieve more. Not that he is less intelligent because he learnt with a bicycle. 11 Likes |

cjrane: Excellently written. Nwanne, its a common sense. If you put that world class facility into the hands of the Nigerian trained doctors and nurses they will run it to the ground...Its not even debatable. However,i suggest we invite people in the know to have them trained and NOT employing foreign practitioners to work in the hospital. If we must compete with the world best then we must properly train our people . 8 Likes |

AnamCity: Exactly. Trees are very important not just aesthetically, they purify the air and helps us stay healthy longer. Didn't want to post Uyo library to buttress Igboson's point, but even looking at this picture of Oraifite compound. Why is it beautiful? Definitely because effort was made to plant trees and grass in the environment. Many of us that liked that picture won't even notice that it is the effect of the trees and grass on the environment that they were admiring, not necessarily the house itself. 8 Likes |

patrick89: We live in the rain forest belt where trees and grass grow very well. There is no reason why we should not aspire to make our library environment conducive and up to international standard. The pictures below are from an LGA library close to my house. (Not even a State owned library). Apart from the structure being bigger than our state's Kenneth Dike Library, Awka, they took time to plant trees, grass and flowers in the environment to make it conducive. That is what it should be, and that is what we must aspire to do things properly. 5 Likes

How Obiano quelled Nkpor New Auto Spare Parts Market leadership crisis on November 25, 2015 / ONITSHA —THE prompt intervention of Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State, weekend, saved what could have led to loss of lives and property following a bloody leadership crisis rocking the New Auto Spare Parts Market, Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state. Obiano acknowledging cheers from his supporters at a recent function in the state Obiano acknowledging cheers from his supporters at a recent function in the state The week- old crisis was sparked off when the state government, in conjunction with the executive of Anambra Markets Amalgamated Traders Association, AMATAS, an umbrella association of the traders in the state, announced their decision to set up a caretaker committee to run the affairs of the market, following the expiration of the Emmanuel Uko-led executive of the market, but the traders revolted vehemently on the grounds that they preferred a democratically elected leadership to a caretaker arrangement, insisting that an election must be conducted. The fracas, which began at the New Auto Spare Parts Market, later spread to other markets in the vicinity until Obiano waded into the matter by convening an emergency meeting of the stakeholders in the markets which brought the situation under control at least for now. At the commencement of the crisis which paralyzed commercial activities in Onitsha, the commercial hub of the state, the traders protested against what they described as an alleged imposition of a caretaker committee leadership on them by the state government and AMATAS. Armed with their placards, with inscriptions such as, ‘We do not need caretaker committee in the New Auto Spare Parts Market, AMATAS,’ ‘Leave our market to have peaceful election,’ ‘Only traders who own shops in this market are qualified to contest election,’ ‘Governor Obiano, caution your Commissioner for Trade and Commerce,’ and ‘Anambra Commissioner for Trade and Commerce wants to cause crisis in our peaceful market.’ The traders maintained that the market had no crisis to warrant the planned installation of a caretaker committee by the state government and AMATAS to run the affairs of the market. As they were insisting that they preferred elections to pick their leaders and not an imposition of a caretaker committee, the Board of Trustees, BoT, of the market had to quickly seal the union’s secretariat to avoid an untoward action. The union’s secretariat remained sealed until Governor Obiano convened the close-door meeting held at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia, presided over by Obiano himself. In attendance at the meeting were the state Commissioner for Industry, Trade and Commerce, Ifeatu Onejeme and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Chief Chikodi Anaran from the side of the government, while the Chairman of the BoT, Chief Mike Emerah represented the traders. At the end of the meeting, both parties resolved that following the expiration of the tenure of Mr. Emmanuel Uko-led executive, a care-taker committee be put in place to run the affairs of the market for only one month, during which an election of new executive would be conducted to usher in a new democratically elected executive of the market. Speaking shortly after the meeting, Emerah, commended Governor Obiano for the peace initiative and attributed the crisis in the market to the attitude of some market executives who always refused to vacate their seats at the expiration of their tenure. He, therefore, urged future leaders in the market to imbibe democratic culture by leaving the stage when the ovation was loudest, meaning that they should conduct an election as soon as their tenure expires and handover leadership to their successors, for peaceful co-existence. I think this is how our mentality had always been we hate cheating gov Obiano can generate enough revenues from these guys just the same way fashola was milking them in lagos......obiano should continue with his magnificent job trust me he will generate billions from all these guys once they are happy with his performance 3 Likes 1 Share |
