Chidera Ezeh is talented but he is not yet in the regular squad list of FC Porto. It will be difficult to drop a regular pro like Simon Moses for Ezeh.

Let the young man battle it out with the U20 team
.
Just my sentiments though smiley... almost oblivious of his U20 eligibility....

@TheGoodJoe... whats up with Nacho man... hope he doesnt go 'senile' with this lack of first team football.... Am utterly amazed at pelle's decisions though.

The full squad is back, so he is back to his reserve role. There are too many top respected talents ahead if him.

When you look at Navas (who has rediscovered himself - that dribble of Baba Rahman was breathtaking), Silva, De Bruyne, Aguero, Nasri.

As long as he is working hard and training everyday with these top talents, it is okay. The time for regular starts will come.

It is almost certain that Isaac Success will not make the Olympics..... Siasia WHY?

Simon Moses style of play doesn't fascinate me, I'll rather not take him.... am objective

How about my boy Chidera Eze isnt he good enough for the olympics?.. He is making steady progress at Porto... It been clear right from the U15 tourney he is meant for elite football... Would not mind having him instead of Moses.... now thats sentiments

Chidera Ezeh ahead of Simon Moses? No naaa..
Talking about the way Simon Moses players, his style of play is more suitable to youth competitions. I know a couple of old Nigerian wingers that played the way Simon plays at youth level but when they got to the senior level they became average and later dropped.
Watch the way Iwobi plays from the wings, its very different from how Simon plays it. Iwobi is a more efficient modern winger than Simon.
Simon's style is more tilted towards Victor Moses' style of play.

Besides, Siasia prefers using natural wingers instead of converting Strikers to wingers. This is a major reason I feel a player like Stanley Dimgba stands a better chance than Isaac Success or Imoh Ezekiel.

I enjoyed Nacho's few minutes show against Chelsea. I could see what Pellegrini is developing him for.

When he dropped deep, he fitted seamlessly and sprayed some neat tidy passes. His short passing really looks good and I see Nacho breaking into the squad next season.

His style of play will Suit Guardiola's style which relies a lot on short passes.

Pius Ikedia, John Owoeri, Solomon Okoronkwo, Mohammed Manga. Tijani Babagida started like that but because he had a winger like Finidi George to learn from in the Team he improved on that. Ahmed Musa has little of it just that he is not much skillfull so rather than face the opposing defender he attempts a premature cross-in.

How do they play? They take on opponents one-on-one trying to out run and dribble them at the same time. They are usually skillful and full of pace but when they draggle/struggle their into danger areas they would have run out of steam and usually the CF would be running from behind to meet up with the anticipated cross. grin

They play with their heads down. Something we used to call Okada those players. I was natural Right Wing Forward. Them no dey catch my back those days o. Na " on the run we dey call am". grin

Sir TheGoodJoe, u see what I told you about Onazi?

A new coach and he is back in the starting line-up even scoring.

U dnt relegate a player just bc he has nt seen much football action for a couple of weeks or few months due mostly to new coaching staff.
We know Onazi's capability. He is still our best DMF.

I was Natural left, tagged "the fastest player on the pitch" when I played.

Nice to know we played with the same style. I was not much of a dribbler but, I can not be caught. Sprinting things.

Ironically, my favorite Super Eagles player is Pius Ikedia. Sad he did not last on the scene but he was an eyeful while he lasted. Created short and memorable moments.

Do you still remember Nigeria Vs Ireland in Nigeria '99? Damien Duff and Robbie Keane played for Ireland.

A commentator said after the game, "Ireland scored and Nigeria should have lost the game. But, that boy Pius Ikedia did not let the match go. He kept on running with the ball."

Onazi is one player I will always respect but I do not like his style when he plays for us because, I like a defensive midfielder sitting back and protecting the back four.

That is why Pellegrini played Fernando against PSG in the second leg and dropped Yaya Toure.

Fernando sits back. He let's the team do the playing, while he cleans up behind them.

That is why I will pick Hope Akpan over Onazi.

That is the only downside to Onazi's game but it is a thing of preference.

In the game we played Chelsea, you could see Pellegrini opted to tear Chelsea from the middle with penetrating runs from Fernandinho and Yaya. Such a system will suit Onazi. He can run up and down the pitch effortlessly.

His marking is flawless, he is a great tackler and has a powerful short in his leg.

It is up to the formation and strategy of Coach Siasia. I will opt for a standing defensive midfielder to shield the back four. But, we know Coach Siasia prefers a mobile midfield with his Defensive/Central Midfield players contributing to the attacking play.

That kind of play suits Onazi.

Glad the young man is back and proving he deserves a regular place.

To add to what Icon4s said, there is more to winging than Sprinting down the touchline and whipping in a cross. Holding the ball on the wings and showing how good you are on the ball. Simon Moses and Victor Moses are guilty of these.

When you watch the likes of Finidi George, Emmanuel Amunike, these men brought more to the team than crosses and goals. They had the midfield touch and combined with their wing backs effortlessly.

Tijani Babangida later adapted and became a fantastic player. I guess it was the influence of Finidi, a man he studied for a long time (did not think of this until Icon4s pointed it out).

I earlier pointed out that Simon Moses should reinvent himself. Few coaches want players on the wing who can not contribute more to the team than the natural wing play.

Look at the likes of Neymar and Messi who play wide for Barca. Look at Silva, Nasri and De Bruyne who get to play wide for City. Look at Bale and CR7 at Real Madrid.

There was an improvement in Victor Moses play I'm our second game against Egypt. I was impressed with his touches and the way he dropped the ball for Amuzie to cross. That was unlike the Moses I know and I hope he keeps improving.

Ex-Orlando City Defender Okugo Gives An Expose On Colombia U23 Players,Higuita&Rivas

Published: April 18, 2016

Colombia are one of the teams the Nigeria U23s will face during the group stage of the 2016 Olympic Games, with the South Americans qualifying for the tourney after they saw off the United States in the playoffs.

Based on the current roster of Los Cafeteros, there is a possibility that Orlando City pair Cristian Higuita and Carlos Rivas could be selected in the squad for the Olympic Games.

Former United States U23 international Amobi Okugo knows about the qualities of Higuita and Rivas, as he was on the books of Orlando City along with the two South Americans before he switched to Sporting Kansas City in July 2015.

“Both are very good and dangerous players who have loads of potential. They will definitely be playing in Europe within the next three years, ” says Amobi Okugo to allnigeriasoccer.com.

“Higuita’s strengths are ball winning, ball circulation. possession, technical , tackling and aggression, while he is injury prone and picks up yellow cards.

“Rivas’ strengths are speed, crossing, shots from distance, one v one dribbling, tactical awareness and finishing.”

Cristian Higuita,22, is a midfielder and represented Colombia at the 2013 South American Youth Championship while Carlos Rivas is a winger.

Aii, this wings play discussion has taken me back memory lane.

There was a boy then in our Ajegunle Team (U13) by name Ifeanyi Onuora aka oyibo. He was our first choice Right Winger. The coach then (coach Ibe) Usually introduced me in d second half to run ragged the defense of d opposing side. Ifeanyi hu was one yr my senior in secondary school later went on to play for Jigawa Golden stars while Taribo West, also in our team then, went to Julius Berger i think. While Taribo made d AYC team of 1993 Ify was never invited. Taribo then used to tell us say "hu b Tijani Babangida where oyibo(Ifeanyi Onuora) dey"? grin

James Peters was d Flying Eagles coach then. That was d team dat also produced JJ Okocha.

So many stars waste away in this country.

I stopped serious football after U13. Science student things. undecided

Team Atlanta had one thing that drove them.... Passion

I watched a compilation of their progress and it was evident in their play. sorry to say, who said Dosu is Nigeria's best?

The 96 team will be a goal down nd still dominate and track far better than they were doing when the score was even.

fast forward to present, we have more technicality and less passion. That Passion to forget whatever is at stake and zero your mind of all worries, save the game at hand and the idea that one must win and fight to the last.

The Passion of then+the technical of present will make us a deadly force.

Today few team still play with passion; Holland, Brazil, Germany, Spain.

we need that passion back mostly in the 'I'm afraid of getting injured on international duty' SE.

Tomori put the defending champions ahead in the tenth minute, scoring his fifth goal of the season off a rebound after Clarke-Salter ’s header was blocked.

Two minutes later, he gave away a penalty for a foul on Nkunku but the Chelsea goalkeeper, Collins, saved from Augustin.

PSG restored parity in the 58th minute through Meite before Palmer scored what turned out to be the game-winner three minutes later.

“Jordon Ibe’s family informed me by a telephone call that he was giving priority to an England call-up. We wish them well,” Oliseh said on Twitter
.

He has pledged his allegiance to England. Whether he is eligible or not does not matter. He rejected a Super Eagles call up because his heart is with England. So there is no need for his report here.

We wish him well.

They will now want consideration when it becomes clear England won't be needing them.

Ibe rejected the green white green jersey. He had his chance to choose and he chose to reject it.

He is an English player.

I am more interested in Solanke scoring today in the PSV Vs Vitesse game than whatever Ibe does for Liverpool.

Solanke declared that he will answer a call up from Nigeria. His case is totally different from Ibe who rejected a call up.

Sad Solanke is going through a rough patch. It seems the injury messed him up. I hope he finds his scoring boots soon
