`what is y raised to power -10 |
Re: The Mathematics Game by hotangel2(f): 7:05am On Sep 25, 2005 |
To answer nike's question. 25 to the power of 3/2 25=5 to the power of 2. therefore: 5 2x3/2 53 = 125 |

i dont get the last question? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 7:11am On Sep 25, 2005 |
next question: it took 10 people to lift 5 bags, how many people will it take to lift 10 bags? 20 people double the 10.. 5x2=10 10x2= 20 i cant explain much cos i just worked out in my head my question was wats y raised to the power of -10 |

I dont know the answer oo. Wes, can u please explain how Y-10 is 20? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by WesleyanA(f): 7:25am On Sep 25, 2005 |
nike asked how many people it'll take to lift ten bags and i answered 20. i guess she modified her post |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 7:26am On Sep 25, 2005 |
Lizzy how u get de raised to power sign y raised to power -10 any thing dat has minus b4 de power will be reduced to 1/y raised to power 10.. |
Re: The Mathematics Game by WesleyanA(f): 7:28am On Sep 25, 2005 |
i thought we had to solve for Y . . . . you should have said "what's another way to write the statement". |
Re: The Mathematics Game by hotangel2(f): 7:29am On Sep 25, 2005 |
to get the raised to power sign... you higlight the thing you wanna raise.. and click SUP. It's right above the smileys. |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 7:30am On Sep 25, 2005 |
thanks y-10 = 1/y-10 |

hot-angel: where dis u press on the keyboard to make 2 the power of x, i can't. |
Re: The Mathematics Game by queen2(f): 5:38pm On Sep 25, 2005 |
x2 + 2x - 3 = 0 ans: x2 +3x - x - 3 = 0 x(x + 3) - 1 (x + 3) (x + 3) = 0 (x - 1) = 0 x = -3 or x = 1 |
Re: The Mathematics Game by hotangel2(f): 8:37pm On Sep 25, 2005 |
Queen for you to raise something to the power... you highlight what you want to raise, and click SUP, it's right above the smileys. There's no next question?? NExt Question: If f(x)= x-4; Find f(4), and f(-2). |
Re: The Mathematics Game by queen2(f): 8:49pm On Sep 25, 2005 |
ok hottie thanx |

Re: The Mathematics Game by kamakula: 9:49pm On Sep 28, 2005 |
umm. . wow. . . my ppl need more math. . the lowest common multiple of 24 and 48 is rightly 48. the highest common factor of 24 and 48 is 24 - 24 is a factor of itself. factors of 24: 1,24, 2,12, 3,8,4,6 factors of 48, 1,48, 2,24, 3,16, 4,12, 6,8 you guys sure learned weird ways of doing stuff. . . |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 6:13am On Sep 29, 2005 |
so its 24 and 48? if it is..am right |
Re: The Mathematics Game by kamakula: 10:12pm On Sep 29, 2005 |
yes - 24 is the lcf, 48 is the lcm. |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 10:17pm On Sep 29, 2005 |
then am right huh? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by kamakula: 10:24pm On Sep 29, 2005 |
yep, you are right! Now, my own question: What is the probability of getting at least two heads when a fair coin is flipped three times? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 10:42pm On Sep 29, 2005 |
answer is 4/8 when you fliped coin 3times , total outcome is 8 because 23 is 8 and probability of at least 2 heads is 4 therefore, its 4/8 u feel me? solve (2 7/9) 1/2? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by kamakula: 10:56pm On Sep 29, 2005 |
Your answer is Correct!!! though, its not that the probability of 2 head is 4, but the total number of possible ways of getting two heads is 4. And the answer to your question, (27/9)1/2 = 27/18 so, answer this: what is wrong with this proof: x = y. Then x2 = xy. Subtract the same thing from both sides: x2 - y2 = xy - y2. Dividing by (x-y), obtain x + y = y. Since x = y, we see that 2 y = y. Subtracting y from both sides: y = 0 |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 12:15am On Sep 30, 2005 |
kamakula am sorry to bust your bubble but your answer is wrong! (2 7/9) 1/2= 5/3 or 1 2/3 how its done: first change (2 7/9) into an improper fraction which is 25/9 then 1/2 means squareroot..u feel me? therefore its gon be √- sqareroot of 25/9 which is 5/3: 25-5 9-3 so answer is 5/3 or 1 2/3 do u get it ? |
Re: The Mathematics Game by hotangel2(f): 12:17am On Sep 30, 2005 |
kamakaula.. i don't get the LCM thingy. And i seriously don't know how to do proofs. Call me dumb. |
Re: The Mathematics Game by nike4luv(f): 12:18am On Sep 30, 2005 |
gurl ur not dumb ok.. do the long hcf and lcm thing we were taught in primary school, u'll get it but if u know venn diagram, it works too |
Re: The Mathematics Game by hotangel2(f): 12:18am On Sep 30, 2005 |
I used the way i knew.. but that's wat i keep getting. |
