Where Is Lagos State's 40 Billion Dollars? by aljharem(m): 7:18am On Nov 10, 2014 |
Lagos state government has earned $40 billion plus in revenues between 1999 and now. The money – less salary and running expenses - was partly shared between Alhaji Bola Tinubu, and Alhaji Raji Fashola under corporate guise in the worst scam ever in modern Yoruba history. Last year, Lagos state floated a loan bond of about 80 billion Naira and got public investors to subscribe for repayment with interest but once the bond was fully subscribed, Raji Fashola took 40% of that money - about 35 billion Naira or so - and handed it over in cash to Bola Tinubu, via a bogus corporate front. This patently corrupt deal was ostensibly to buy back Lagos state 'concession rights’ on the Lekki tolled Expressway, according to Raji Fashola. But what the corrupt and clever by half Raji Fashola did not say is that the land at issue belongs to Lagos state and was never sold to Bola Tinubu’s company in the first place. Or did Bola Tinubu’s company invest 35 billion Naira developing the road. In other words, by sheer fraud, Raji Fashola paid Bola Tinubu 25 years profit upfront without any further work. A lien was then imposed on Lagos state allocation of federal revenue for the next three [3] years to pay for this 80 billion Naira debt by all Lagos residents. This transaction must count as the worst fraud ever in Yoruba history since Nigeria became independent on October 1, 1960. In fact, On May 21st, 2014, the Lagos State Commissioner for Finance, Ayodeji Gbeleyi, confirmed that Lagos state debts, as at May 2014, stood at N435 billion - including N275 billion in bonds - equivalent to 2.7 billion United States dollars. Now, discounting monthly interest rates on the commercial portion of this debt, the gross Lagos state government debt is now equal to all of the expected federal revenue allocation to Lagos state in the next three and half years, at $3.7 billion, without equivalent benefits on the ground to show for it - dollar for dollar. We are not deceived by flowers and other aesthetics Fashola claimed he has done. 10 Likes 3 Shares |

A very nice Monday Morning topic for discussion. From all indication, Lagos State debt profile calls for urgent attention. The Gearing Ratio of Lagos is in a critical mode. The government of ACN now APC having ruled Lagos for SIXTEEN YEARS is being run in secrecy without accountability, openness and transparency. I presume Lagos is mortgaged already. Lagos been the vocal selling point of ACN/APC is in dear need of a Messiah. APC Lagos can simply be regarded as wolf in sheep clothing. 9 Likes 2 Shares |

I guess TANoids internet talking point from your meeting last week is Fashola. The debt issue has been overflogged and it is sad that your thick skulls cannot understand how the money was spent and how the repayment of the principal is being provided for annually in current budgets. 2 Likes |

We all know why Fashola does not want to make public the books/accounts of Lagos state. Somehow that has nothing to hide and has been prudent with its finances will not be keeping his accounts in secret, especially when several allegations have been made. I am, therefore, confident that if this man called Fashola ever gets to be president of Nigeria, Nigeria will be doomed. People will remember the days of GEJ and shed tears in pain & agony, poverty & misery. An intelligent or educated 419er, a lawyer for that matter, that knows how to cover all his tracks like Fashola is the most dangerous. But as some have made public the sufferings of lower class Lagosians from worse to worst, one can only pray for deliverance from APC and the theif calld Tinumbu. I recall one loser bragging before the Anambra elections, he was probably high on urine when he said that the budget of Anambra will be calculated in the room of Tinumbu... imagine... anyways, I wish Lagos the best, afterall it belongs to all Nigerians. 1 Like |

Firefire:most times when u people talk, u alwys think u make sense. Did u knw the debt profile of the USA? Google it... Did u knw why it's that high? Did u knw why they won't stop borrowing? Did u knw why they u be short of lenders even with the high debt profile? Well, the answer is: they are economically position, blessed with resources, both human and technologically to pay back... Now, in the case of Lagos, the govnr has explained the repayment method that was on ground that will ensure all debt it paid without effect on the economy of the state. Yet, this lagos's economy is more than some countries and u're worried abt a debt that doesn't even hinder it's progress. The thing remains: stop worrying abt Lagos, Lagos will take care of herself... |
