Microsoft the PC dominating company as I would like to call them for the first time ever felt the hammer , as the rise of tablets was bad news, as if the gathered popularity of apples mac book was not enough already. Three years after the launch of the first iphone, microsoft now seemed to be playing catch up to iOS and Andriod. Recently, it looks like Microsoft is now welcoming the competition, In fact, if you want an example of just how seriously Microsoft takes the competion, you need look no further than Windows 8, welcoming the touch-screen scene but lambasted by traditional desktop users for its clumsy interface, the whole OS was designed specifically for touch usage. The company which had built its empire upon the desktop scene had sacrificed its key user base in order to advance its tablet cause. Windows 8 was designed to be the operating system which would unify the desktop and tablet experiences, which I think is beginning to pay off (my opinion though) and there seem to be no going back because right now, it’s clear that Microsoft firmly believes that tablets are the future. In fact, it’s plugging the new Surface Pro 3 as the ‘tablet to replace the laptop’. Microsoft is actively hoping that you’ll ditch your laptop for its new tablet.
